"In 2000 a cephalometric survey has been done on both genders of Javanese, Bataks and Chinese students at the University of Indonesia (UI), the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) and the Christian University of Jakarta (UKRIDA) with the aim to detect their cephalometric characteristics patterns and the degree of their secular changes with their ancestors. Cephalometric parameters were measured as follows: the maximal head length (glabellaopisthocranion), the maximal head breadth (euryon-euryon), the minimal forehead breadth (frontotemporalefrontotemporale), the morphological facial height (suborbitale-gnathion), the bizygomatic breadth (zygion-zygion) and the bi-gonion breadth (gonion gonion). In addition measurements were done on facial soft tissue factors such as the nasal height (suborbitale-subnasale) the nasal breadth (alare-alare), the ear length (superaurale-subaurale) and the ear breadth (preaurale-postaurale). The results were treated statistically using t test to obtain the degree of significance. It was determined that some cephalometric characteristics have undergone secular changes but both genders of Bataks, Javanese and Chinese students seemed to depict their retainment of their respective ancestors cephalometric characteristics, consequently their cephalometric characteristic differences were still detectable."

"ABSTRAK
INTRODUCTION: Diabetes has become a major public health concern with an estimated 180
million cases worldwide. Nutritional changes are one of the key aspects in the management of
type 2 diabetes mellitus. Previous studies have suggested an association between vegetarian
diets and improvements in glycemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus, however the relationship
is not well established. The aim of this report is to perform a critical appraisal to analyze whether
plant-based diet reduces the HbA1c level compared to conventional diet.
METHODS: A comprehensive computer-based literature search was performed on June 20, 2016
using PubMed, Ovid, EBSCO, and the Cochrane Library. All abstracts and titles from the initial
search results were screened, reviewed, and appraised using critical appraisal worksheets by
Center of Evidence-Based Medicine, University of Oxford.
RESULTS: One systematic review and two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) met the inclusion
criteria and were considered eligible for this case report. In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,
HbA1c reduction was significantly greater in the plant-based group compared to conventional
diet group in participants who did not change medications after 22 weeks of follow up (P=0.01).
Similarly, there was also a significantly greater reduction in HbA1c level in the plant-based group
after 72 weeks (P=0.03). Furthermore, consumption of plant-based diet was associated with a
significant reduction in HbA1c (P=0.001).
CONCLUSION: In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, HbA1c reduction was greater in patients
with plant-based diet compared to patients with conventional diet. Further research should be
conducted with larger sample size and fasting blood glucose as the main outcome."

"The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of the peer counseling model for improving students' self-direction competence. The research aimed to describe, test and analyze the effectiveness of the peer counseling model and employed the descriptive-analytical method and quasi-experiments to do this. The research activities consisted of a series of model validity tests, namely the model rationality test, the model practicability test, and the limited test. The data collection techniques were interviews, self-direction competence inventories, observation and documentation. The result of the research demonstrate that the peer counseling model as an intervention program for the experimental group as a whole proved to effectively improve students' self-direction competence. The peer counseling model has its strengths in self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-control."

"Masa remaja merupakan periode transisi dari masa kanak-kanak menuju masa
dewasa. Pada masa ini remaja akan mampu berkembang secara optimal jika dapat
memenuhi tugas perkembangan yang harus dilaluinya. Remaja juga mulai
membuat keputusan-keputusan dalam hal pendidikan dan memikirkan masa depan
(Hockenberry, 2007). Remaja mulai memiliki kebebasan, autonomi dan pilihan
dibandingkan saat mereka rnasih memerlukan pemeliharaan khusus bimbingan
dan perlindungan pada masa kanak-kanak. Hal ini pulalah yang mempengaruhi
remaja untuk mulai memperhatikan pendidikan. Pendidikan dalam hal ini
berkaitan dengan proses belajar yang dialami remaja, baik informal maupun
formal seperti sekolah.
Beberapa hal dapat mempengaruhi proses belajar pada remaja, salah stunya
motivasi belajar. Motivasi dan belajar merupakan dua hal yang tidak bisa
dipisahkan. Motivasi belajar adalah daya penggerak dari dalam diri individu untuk
melakukan kegiatan belajar untuk menambah pengetahuan dan keterampilan serta
pengalaman (Latief 2008). Motivasi ini tumbuh karena ada keinginan untuk bisa
mengetahui dan memahami sesuatu dan mendorong serta mengarahkan remaja
untuk sungguh-sungguh belajar dan berusaha untuk mencapai prestasi. Dalam
proses pembelajaran motivasi belajar dapat dinalogikan sebagai bahan bakar
yang dapat menggerakkan mesin. Motivasi yang baik dan memadai dapat
mendorong remaja rnenjadi Iebih aktif dalam belajar dan dapat meningkatkan
prestasi belajar di kelas.
Motivasi belajar dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor, yaitu faktor intrinsik dan
ekstrinsik. Faktor intrinsik atau faktor dari dalam diri manusia yang disebabkan
oleh dorongan atau keinginan akan kebutuhan belajar, harapan, dan cita-cita.
Sedangkan faktor ekstrinsik berupa adanya penghargaan, lingkungan belajar yang
menyenangkan, dan kegiatan belajar yang menarik (Latief 2008)."
