"Latar Belakang. Th17 merupakan sel T efektor proinflamasi yang berperan pada proses autoimunitas. Pada pasien Graves yang sulit remisi terdapat peningkatan Th17. Sebagai imunomodulator, vitamin D dapat menekan sitokin inflamasi yang diproduksi oleh sel dendritik, termasuk IL-23. IL-23 berperan pada diferensiasi, ekspansi dan survival Th17. Alphacalcidol bersinergi dengan tionamid dalam menghambat sintesis hormon tiroid. Belum diketahui apakah pemberian alphacalcidol juga memberikan efek imunomodulator pada penyakit Graves, terutama supresi Th17 yang dinilai dari konsentrasi IL-23 serum.
Tujuan. Mengetahui efek alphacalcidol terhadap konsentrasi IL-23 pada pasien Graves.
Metode. Studi ini merupakan cabang dari studi induk mengenai efek alphacalcidol terhadap pematangan sel dendritik. Studi induk merupakan uji klinis tersamar ganda yang diikuti oleh pasien Graves hipertiroid yang terbagi menjadi 12 subjek pada kelompok perlakuan dan 13 subjek pada kelompok plasebo. Kelompok perlakuan mendapatkan alphacalcidol 1,5 µg per hari dan tionamid, sedangkan kelompok plasebo mendapatkan tionamid dan plasebo. Serum pada studi induk disimpan pada suhu -80oC. Pada penelitian ini IL-23 diperiksa pada serum kedua kelompok baik sebelum maupun sesudah suplementasi alphacalcidol.
Hasil. Konsentrasi IL-23 serum pada kelompok perlakuan adalah 12,322 pg/mL sedangkan pada kelompok plasebo adalah 12,380 pg/mL.
Simpulan. Tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna (p >0.05) konsentrasi IL-23 serum antara kelompok yang mendapatkan alphacalcidol 1,5 µg per hari dengan kelompok plasebo.

Backgroud. Th17 is a pro-inflammatory T cells effector which has a significant role in autoimmunity. Increasing proportions of Th17 cells found in intractable Graves` disease patients. As immunomodulator, vitamin D able to suppress inflammatory cytokine produced by dendritic cell, including IL-23. IL-23 has a significant role in differentiation, expansion and survival of Th17. Alphacalcidol and tionamid has a synergic effect in inhibiting thyroid hormone synthesis. There is no evidence weather alphacalcidol has immunomodulatory effect in Graves` disease, especially in suppressing Th17 which is evaluate by IL-23 concentration.
Aim. To evaluate effect of alphacalcidol to IL-23 concentration in Graves` disease
Method. The parent study used randomized clinical trial desain. In present study 25 Graves` hyperthyroid patients, divided to 12 subjects in intervention group and 13 subjects in placebo. Alphacalcidol 1,5 µg a day and tionamid given to patients in intervention group, meanwhile subjects in placebo group only got tionamid. Serum sample from parent study stored in -80oC. In present study evaluation of IL-23 performed in both groups before and after alphacalcidol supplementation.
Results. Serum concentration of IL-23 is 12,322 pg/mL in intervention group, and 12,380 pg/mL in placebo group.
Conclusion. There is no significance differences (p > 0.05) of serum concentration of IL-23 between patients receiving alphacalcidol and placebo."

"Kadar vitamin D darah diketahui berhubungan dengan perbaikan disregulasi imunitas dengan menekan badai sitokin, sehingga mencegah perburukan klinis pasien COVID-19. Namun, uji klinis terkait efek suplementasi vitamin D terhadap pasien COVID-19 masih belum konsisten. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggabungkan secara sistematis temuan terkait suplementasi vitamin D terhadap derajat keparahan dan mortalitas pasien COVID-
19. Penelusuran literatur dilakukan di pangkalan data Pubmed, Cochrane, Science Direct, ProQuest, MedXriv, WileyOnline Library, dan Scopus pada 27 September 2020. Studi yang menilai efek suplementasi vitamin D terhadap derajat keparahan dan mortalitas pasien COVID-19, tanpa adanya restriksi desain studi, diinklusi dalam penelitian ini. Penilaian kualitas studi dilakukan oleh tiga panelis. Empat studi dengan kualitas rendah hingga sedang diikutsertakan dalam penelitian. Seluruh studi melaporkan risiko mortalitas, dan tiga di antaranya yang melaporkan derajat keparahan. Dua dari tiga studi ini sepakat bahwa pasien dengan suplementasi vitamin D mengalami risiko keparahan penyakit yang signifikan lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan tanpa suplementasi. Satu studi lainnya menemukan tidak adanya perbedaan bermakna, meskipun proporsi terjadinya COVID-19 derajat berat lebih tinggi ditemukan pada kelompok tanpa suplementasi. Berkaitan dengan mortalitas, tiga dari empat studi melaporkan suplementasi vitamin D merupakan faktor protektif dari risiko mortalitas pasien COVID-19. Satu studi lainnya, dengan validitas yang rendah dan risiko bias yang tinggi, melaporkan bahwa pasien dengan suplementasi vitamin D lebih banyak mengalami kematian dibandingkan dengan pasien tanpa suplementasi. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan derajat keparahan dan risiko mortalitas antara pasien COVID-19 yang mendapatkan suplementasi vitamin D dengan tanpa suplementasi vitamin D. Suplementasi vitamin D menjadi faktor protektif terjadinya keparahan kondisi dan mortalitas pasien COVID-19.

Vitamin D levels are known to be associated with improved immunity dysregulation by suppressing cytokine storms to prevent clinical worsening of COVID-19 patients. However, clinical trials regarding the effects of vitamin D supplementation on COVID-19 patients are still inconsistent. This study aimed to systematically analyze the vitamin D supplementation’s effect on the severity and mortality risk of COVID-19 patients. A literature search was conducted in Pubmed, Cochrane, Science Direct, ProQuest, MedXriv, WileyOnline Library, and Scopus on 27 September 2020. Studies assessing the effect of vitamin D supplementation on the severity and mortality of COVID-19 patients were included without any study design restrictions. Three authors carried out the study quality assessment. Four studies of low to moderate quality were included in the study. All studies reported a risk of mortality, and three of them reported the degree of severity. Two of the three studies agreed that patients with vitamin D supplementation had a significantly lower risk of disease severity than those without supplementation. One other study found no significant difference, although a higher proportion of severe COVID-19 was recorded in the group without supplementation. Three of the four studies reported vitamin D supplementation as a protective factor for mortality in COVID-19 patients. With low validity and a high risk of bias, one of the studies reported that a group of vitamin D supplements had a higher death rate than the group without supplementation. Researchers concluded that there were differences in the degree of severity and risk of mortality between COVID-19 patients given vitamin D supplementation and COVID-19 patients without vitamin D supplementation. Vitamin D supplementation was a protective factor in the severity and mortality risk of COVID-19 patients."

"Infeksi STH (Soil transmitted helminth) masih merupakan masalah kesehatan di Indonesia dan dapat ditemukan bersamaan dengan Kurang Vitamin A (KVA). Infeksi STH dapat menyebabkan gangguan penyerapan nutrisi termasuk vitamin A. Belum diketahui pengaruh pengobatan cacingan terhadap status vitamin A anak SD. Penelitian pre-eksperimental dilakukan pada anak SD kelas 3-5 di salah satu SDN di Jakarta Utara. Sampel tinja dan darah diambil sebelum dan tiga minggu sesudah pengobatan (albendazol 400mg tiga hari berturut-turut). Pemeriksaan FLOTAC dilakukan untuk infeksi STH dan High Performance Liquid Chromatography untuk retinol. Prevalensi STH didapatkan sebesar 61,9%. Dari 99 anak, prevalensi KVA kategori ringan (<1,05 μmol/l) ditemukan pada 17,2% anak dan sedang (<0,70 μmol/l) pada 2% anak. Status infeksi STH tidak berhubungan signifikan dengan konsentrasi retinol baseline. Anak laki-laki memiliki konsentrasi retinol baseline lebih rendah dibandingkan anak perempuan (p=0,045). Terjadi kenaikan konsentrasi retinol mendekati bermakna (p=0,05) setelah pengobatan, pada anak terinfeksi STH dan tidak terinfeksi. Konsentrasi retinol baseline memiliki hubungan terbalik dengan perubahan konsentrasi retinol (􀀁= -0,340, p=0,002). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa infeksi STH tidak mempengaruhi konsentrasi retinol baseline atau perubahan konsentrasi retinol setelah pengobatan. Jenis kelamin berperan sebagai salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi konsentrasi retinol baseline. Selisih konsentrasi retinol setelah pengobatan dapat diprediksi oleh konsentrasi retinol baseline.

Soil Transmitted Helminthes (STH) infection is still a health problem in Indonesia and often found together with Vitamin A Deficiency (VAD). STH infection can impair absorption of nutrients including vitamin A. The effect of deworming on the vitamin A status of primary school children is unknown. Pre-experimental study was carried on children of grade 3-5 at one of primary schools in North Jakarta. Stool and blood samples were taken before and three weeks after treatment (albendazole 400 mg for three consecutive days). FLOTAC examination was used to determine STH infections and High Performance Liquid Chromatography for serum retinol. The prevalence of STH was 61.9%. Of 99 children, 2% had moderate deficiency (<0,7 μmol/l) and 17,2% had mild (<1,05 μmol/l) deficiency of vitamin A. STH infection was not significantly associated with serum retinol concentration at baseline. Boys had lower serum retinol concentration compared to girls (p = 0.045). After treatment serum retinol concentrations was increased with marginal significance (p = 0.05), occurring in those infected with STH or not. Serum retinol concentration at baseline had an inverse association with the change in serum retinol concentration after treatment (ß = -0.340, p = 0.002). To conclude, STH infection had no effect on serum retinol concentration before treatment as well as the change in serum retinol concentration after treatment. Gender was one of the factors that influenced the serum retinol concentrations at baseline. Serum retinol concentration at baseline can be used as a predictor for the magnitude of change in serum retinol concentration after treatment."

"Kulit yang sehat dan bersih dapat dirawat dengan menggunakan produk perawatan kulit (skincare). Salah satu kandungan pada produk perawatan kulit yang banyak digunakan ialah niasinamida. Niasinamida dapat lebih efektif ketika dienkapsulasi oleh niosom yang mengandung vitamin E (tokoferol asetat). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membuat niasinamida terenkapsulasi niosom yang mengandung vitamin E untuk uji antimikroba terhadap bakteri Cutibacterium acnes. Niosom dibuat menggunakan Span® 60 dan tokoferol asetat dengan metode thin film hydration. Niosom yang dibuat di penelitian ini menggunakan tiga variasi konsentrasi tokoferol asetat, yaitu 0, 5, dan 10%. Niosom ditentukan efisiensi enkapsulasi, potensial zeta, dan ukuran partikelnya. Aktivitas antimikroba niosom terhadap bakteri C. acnes dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode broth dilution. Efisiensi enkapsulasi niosom niasinamida tanpa tokoferol asetat (72%) lebih rendah dibandingkan niosom niasinamida yang mengandung tokoferol asetat (99%). Niosom yang diperoleh memiliki ukuran partikel ≥ 1000 nm dan potensial zeta -3 sampai -0,8. Niosom niasinamida yang mengandung tokoferol asetat 10% memiliki aktivitas antimikroba terhadap C. Acnes dengan nilai OD600 sebesar 1,598.

Healthy and clean skin can be maintained using skin care products. One of the ingredients in skin care products that is widely used is niacinamide. Niacinamide can be more effective when encapsulated by niosomes containing vitamin E (tocopherol acetate). In this research, antimicrobial activity of Niosome-encapsulated niacinamide was determined against Cutibacterium acnes. Niosomes were prepared using Span® 60 and tocopherol acetate by thin film hydration method. The different concentration of tocopherol acetat were used in this research, i.e. 0, 5, and 10%. Niosomes were determined for their encapsulation efficiency, zeta potential, and particle size. The antimicrobial activity of niosomes against C. acnes bacteria was carried out using broth dilution method. The encapsulation efficiency of noisome-encapsulated niacinammide without tocopherol acetate (72%) was lower than that of niacinamide niosomes containing tocopherol acetate (99%). Niosomes obtained had a particle size of ≥1000 nm and a zeta potential of -3 until -0,8. Niosome-encapsulated niacinamide containing 10% tocopherol acetate had antimicrobial activity against C. acnes with a OD600 value of 1,598."

"ABSTRACT
Goiter in school children is one of the symptoms of iodine deficiency for a long period. This condition will have a wide spectrum of mental, psychomotor and growth abnormalities if there is no correction immediately. According to many studies, there is an interaction between selenium, vitamin A and iodine. Indonesia has a program of iodine supplementation to eradicate IDD; however, there is still prevalence of IDD in endemic areas. It can be suspected that goiter is not only caused by low intake of iodine but also by other cause, trace elements such as selenium, calcium and other heavy metals. In Indonesia, the study of trace elements is still needed. Therefore, this study has the main objective to assess the effect of selenium and vitamin A supplementation on the goiter size among school children in Central Java.
The study was conducted in Cimanggu sub-district, Cilacap district, Central Java Province, Indonesia from November 1997 till January 1998. School children age 8 - 12 years with palpable goiter was allocated randomly into 2 groups? treatment and control. First group receive once 400 mg iodine capsule and vitamin A (200,000 [ti); Selenium (200p.gram) twice/week for 8 weeks. Second group receive once 400 mg iodine capsule and vitamin A (200,000 IU); placebo. At the beginning and the end of the study, serum selenium, goiter size, UIE, weight and height were measured.
The prevalence of goiter based on palpation was 40.5%. By using ultrasound, the subjects with palpable goiter were 57.3% in treatment and 46.7% in control who positively suffering from goiter. Mean of selenium status of both groups was low (29.lpgll in treatment and 30.1 pgll in control) compared with normal value (86-99 µgI1). After two-month supplementation, serum selenium was increased in treatment group (29.1 to 44.1µg11), but decreased in control group (30.1 to 23.2 p,gll). Median of Urinary Iodine Excretion before supplementation was already high, the prevalence of U1 E < 100 ggll was 5.3% in treatment and 6.7% in control. In conclusion, selenium supplementation had significant effect on the reduction of thyroid volume and the goiter prevalence determined by ultrasound. Further research is required to know the effect of selenium status on thyroid hormone metabolism in groups of iodine deficient and Vitamin A deficient human subjects."

"ABSTRAK
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui suplernentasi vitamin B12 pada penderita HIV terhadap jumlah CD4, sehingga diharapkan dapat mencegah progresivitas penyakit HIV. Penelitiam ini merupakan uji klinis tanpa pembanding, terhadap 15 orang pasien HIV di poliklinik UPT HIV RSUPNCM Jakarta mulai satu Februari sampai dengan 20 April 2010. Subyek mendapat suplementasi vitamin B12 (metilkobalamin) 1000 pg/had, peroral, sclama enam minggu. Data dikumpulkan meliputi data demografi (usia dan jenis kelamin), adanya hepatitis gastroenteritis dan infeksi akut selama penelitian, status gizi (indeks massa tubuh), analisis asupan zat gizi dengan metode had record 3 x24 jam dan FFQ semikuantitatit2 lcadar vitamin B12 serum dan jumlah CD4. Analisis data menggunakan uji t berpasangan atau Wiicoxon dengan batas kemaknaan p < 0,05. Sebanyak 15 subyek mengikuti penelitian sampaj sclesai. Setelah enam minggu perlakuan, didapatkan adanya peningkatan yang bennakna terhadap kadar vitamin Bn serum awal 270,71 i 71,04 pmol/L, pada akhir perlakuan 419,11 =4= 122,95 pmol/L meningkat signiiikan (p > 0,001). Terdapat 11 dari 15 subyek mengalami peningicatan jumlah CD4 pada akhir penelitian. Median jumlah CD4 subyek pada awal penelitian 143 (23 - 372) sei/pL dibandingkan dengan median pada akhir pcrlakuan 166 (18 - 428) /pL, didapatkan perubahan signifikan (p = 0,03l). Uji korelasi Spearman, tidak menunjukan korelasi bermakna antara perbedaan jumlah CD4 dengan perbedaan kadar vitamin B12 serum (r= -0,375, p= 0,l68). Dcngan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa, walaupun tidak terdapat korelasi pada perbedaan jumlah CD4 dan kadar vitamin B12, namun suplementasi vitamin B12 menggunakan metilkobalamin 1000 pg/hari, peroral, selama enam minggu pada penderita HIV dapat meningkatkan secara bcrmakna kadar vitamin Bn serum dan terdapat perubahan bermakna jumlah CD4.

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to find the effect of Vitamin B12 supplementation in HIV patients on the counts of CD4 so it would prevent the HIV progressiveness in RSUPNCM Jakarta. It is an one-armed clinical trial in 15 HIV patients in UPT HIV RSUPNCM Jakarta. The subjects received vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) supplementation 1000 ug/day, per oral, for six weeks. The data was collected included demographic data (age and sex), the presence of hepatitis co-infection and gastroente1itis,and acute infection during nutritional status (body mass index), nutrition intake analysis with 3 x24 hours food record method and semi-quantitative FFQ, the level of serum vitamin B12 and CD4 counts. The study used paired t-test or Wilcoxon with significant value p < 0,05. There were I5 subjects who completely participated. After six weeks of intervention, there as a significant increment of early serum Vitamin Bl; level which was 270,71 1 71,04 pmol/L, and at the end ofthe intervention was 419,11 :h 122,95 pmol/L; increased significantly (p > 0,00l). There were ll of 15 subjects who had an increment at the end of the study. Early CD4 counts at the beginning of the study was 143 (23 - 372) cells/pL then changed significantly at the end of the study which was 166 (18 - 428) cells/pl., p = 0,03l. Though there was no significant correlation in CD4 counts difference to serum vitamin B12 level (r= -0,375, p= 0,l68)- It can be concluded that after six week intervention with vitamin B12 supplementation in methycobalamin form 1000 ug/day, per oral, in HIV patients would significantly increase serum vitamin B12 level and would significantly change CD4 counts, even-though there was no correlation on CD4 difference and vitamin Bl; level difference.

"Mengetahui pengaruh suplementasi vitamin C 1000 mg i.v dan E 400 mg oral selama empat hari berturut-turut terhadap kadar malondialdehid (MDA) plasma, sebagai penanda stres oksidatif pada penderita luka bakar sedang berat.
Penelitian ini merupakan one group pre post test, yang memberikan suplementasi vitamin C 1000 mg i.v dan vitamin E 400 mg oral yang pada 13 subyek penclitian, yaitu penderita luka bakar kategori sedang berat dengan tuas luka bakar kurang dari 60%, yang dirawat di Unit Luka Bakar RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, rekam medik, pengukuran antropometri, analisis asupan menggunakan metodefood record, dan pemeriksaan laboratorium. berupa pemeriksaan kadar vitamin Ct E serum dan MDA plasma pada sebeium dan setelah suplementasi. Analisis data untuk data berpasangan menggunakan uji t berpasangan dan uji Wileoxon, sedangkan untuk dua kelompok tidak berpasangan menggunakan uji Mann Whitney. Batas kemaknaan pada penelitian ini adalah 5%.
Sebanyak 13 orang subyek penelitian~ terdiri dari perempuan 53,85%, dengan median usia 32 (18-55) tahun, sebagian besar subyek memiliki status gizi normal (61.54%). Median luas luka bakar adalah 22 (5-57)"/o, dengan kasus terbanyak adalah luka bakar berat (61.50%), dan penyebab terbanyak adalah api (76.9%). Kadar vitamin C pasca suplementasi mengalami sedikit peningkatan yang tidak bennakna. Kadar vitamin E subyek penelitian meningkat bermakna (p=O,Ol6) pasea suplementasi, walaupun masih dalam kategori rendah. Kadar MDA pada suplementasi mengalami penurunan bermakna W'(l,O 19).
Simpulan: Terdapat penurunan bermakna kadar MDA plasma pada subyek penelitian setelah suplementasi vitamin C 1000 mg i.v dan vitamin E 400 mg oral selama empat hari.

Laboratory test for serum vitamin C, B and plasma malondialdehyde levels were evaluated before and after supplementations. Differences in mean values were assessed by paired t-test for normal distribution data or Wilcoxon fur the not normal distribution. Mann Whitney was used for unpaired data. Values of p < O~OS were considered to indicate statistical significance.
Results Among thirteen subjects. seven (53.80%) subjects were female, median of age 32 (18-55) years. Body mass indek in most subjects (61.54%) were categorized as normal. The median percentages of bum injury 22 (5-51)%, and the frequency of severe bum was 61.50%, while the most cause of bum was flame (76,9%). Level of vitamin C after treatment was increased, but not significant. Level of vitamin E after treatment was significantly increased (p=O,Ol6). Level of MDA after supplementation significantly reduced (Jl 0,0l9).
Conclusion There was significantly reduced of level plasma MDA after four days vitamin CIOOO mg i.v danE 400 mg oral supplementations.

The Effect of Vitamin C and E Suplementations on Serum CReaetive Protein Level in Moderate-Severe Bum Patients.
To study the effect of vitamin C 1000 mg i.v and E 400 mg oral supplementation on serum c-reactive protein level as parameter of inflammation in bum patients.
This study was a one group pre post test that gave i. v 1000 mg vitamin C and ond 400 mg vitamin E supplementations to thirteen moderate-severe bum patients, with percentage of bum less than 60%, in bum unit Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Data were collected using questionnaire, medical record, anthropometric measurement, dietary assessment using fol.lf consecutive days food record. Laboratory test for serum vitamin C, E and serum c-reactivc protein levels were evaluated before and after supplementations. Differences in mean values were assessed by Wilcoxon for the not normal distribution.
Results Among thirteen subjects, seven (53.80%) subjects were female, median of age 35 (18-55) years. Body mass index in most subjects (69.2%) were categorized as normal. The median percentages of bum injury 22 (5-57}%, and the frequency of severe bum was 61.50%, while the most cause of bum was flame (76.9%). Level of vitamin C after treatment was increased, but not significant. Level of vitamin E after treatment was significantly increased (!Pi),OI6). Level of CRP after supplementation significantly increased (!Pi).04).
Conclusion There was significantly reduced of level serum CRP after four days vitamin CI 000 mg i. v dan E 400 mg ond supplementations.

"Latar belakang. Pandemi akibat COVID-19 telah menyebabkan jutaan kematian di seluruh dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Anak, sebagai salah satu kelompok berisiko juga rentan terinfeksi. Hingga saat ini belum ada bukti definitif pengobatan etiologi terhadap COVID-19. Pemberian vitamin C dosis tinggi, yang diketahui memiliki efek antivirus, antioksidan, antiinflamasi, dan imunomodulator, menjadi salah satu pilihan terapi potensial pada pengelolaan COVID-19. Akan tetapi, belum ada data terkait pengaruhnya pada anak dengan COVID-19 dalam mempercepat penyembuhan.
Metode. Penelitian uji klinis acak tersamar tunggal dilakukan pada anak dengan COVID-19 derajat ringan-sedang di RSCM antara Oktober 2021 sampai Maret 2022. Kelompok perlakuan diberikan vitamin C dosis maksimal, sedangkan kelompok kontrol diberikan vitamin C dosis berdasarkan angka kecukupan gizi. Luaran yang dinilai adalah durasi konversi menjadi negatif dan perbaikan gejala batuk, demam, diare, serta penggunaan oksigen. Analisis dilakukan untuk membandingkan pengaruh vitamin C yang diberikan pada kedua kelompok.
Hasil. Sebanyak 40 subjek terlibat dalam penelitian, terbagi atas 20 subjek pada kelompok perlakuan dan 20 subjek pada kelompok kontrol. Median durasi terjadinya viral clearance pada kelompok perlakuan adalah 12 hari sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol 15,5 hari (p=0,588). Durasi gejala batuk pada kelompok perlakuan dibanding kontrol memiliki median 6 dibanding 5 hari (p=0,629), pada gejala demam 2 dibanding 3 hari (p<0,05), pada keluhan diare 2 dibanding 4 hari (p=0,172), dan lama penggunaan oksigen pada kedua kelompok adalah 5 hari (p=0,647).
Simpulan. Pada penelitian ini, vitamin C oral dosis maksimal dapat mempersingkat durasi demam serta memiliki kecenderungan untuk mempercepat durasi terjadinya viral clearance dan hilangnya diare dibandingkan pemberian vitamin C dosis sesuai angka kecukupan gizi.

Background. COVID-19 pandemic has caused millions of deaths worldwide, including Indonesia. Children, as one of the risk groups are also susceptible to infection. To date, there is no definitive evidence of an etiologic treatment for COVID-19. Administration of high doses of vitamin C, which is known to have antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects, is a potential therapeutic option in the management of COVID-19. However, there is no data regarding its effect in children with COVID-19 in accelerating healing.
Methods. A single-blind randomized clinical trial study was conducted on children with mild-moderate COVID-19 at Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital between October 2021 and March 2022. The treatment group was given the maximum dose of vitamin C, while the control group was given a dose of vitamin C based on recommended dietary allowance. The outcomes assessed were duration of negative conversion and improvement in symptoms of cough, fever, diarrhea, and oxygen use. An analysis was carried out to compare the effect of vitamin C administered on the two groups.
Result. A total of 40 subjects were involved in the study, divided into 20 subjects in intervention group and 20 subjects in control group. The median duration of viral clearance in the treatment group was 12 days while that in the control group was 15.5 days (p=0.588). The duration of cough symptoms in the treatment group compared to the control group had a median of 6 vs 5 days (p=0.629), for fever symptoms 2 vs 3 days (p<0.05), diarrhea complaints 2 vs 4 days (p=0.172), and duration oxygen use in both groups was 5 days (p=0.647).
Conclusion. In this study, the maximum dose of oral vitamin C can shorten the duration of fever and has a trend in accelerating the duration of viral clearance and diarrhea compared to recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C.

"Vitamin C diketahui mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antioksidan dan antikerut. Perkembangan di dunia formulasi kosmetika memperkenalkan sediaan serum, yaitu sediaan dengan komponen bioaktif berupa peptida yang lebih banyak. Tembaga-Glisil-L-Histidil-L-Lisin (Cu-GHK) adalah salah satu peptida yang mampu memberikan efek antikerut dan menghidrasi kulit. Karena kemampuan hidrasinya, kemungkinan peptida Cu-GHK juga mampu memberi efek peningkat daya penetrasi komponen lain dalam satu sediaan. Maka dibuat penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh peptida Cu-GHK terhadap penetrasi vitamin C dalam sediaan serum dan pengaruh peptida tersebut terhadap stabilitas fisik dan kimia serum. Dibuat dua sediaan, yaitu serum vitamin C yang mengandung peptida Cu-GHK dan gel vitamin C tanpa peptida, kemudian dibandingkan daya penetrasinya secara in vitro dengan sel difusi Franz menggunakan membran abdomen tikus. Jumlah kumulatif vitamin C yang terpenetrasi melalui kulit tikus dari serum vitamin C adalah 17329 ± 865,55μg/cm2 dan dari gel vitamin C adalah 17869 ± 606,94 μg/cm2. Presentase jumlah kumulatif vitamin C yang terpenetrasi dari serum vitamin C adalah 49,98±2,06% dan dari gel vitamin C adalah 54,6±1,44%. Fluks vitamin C dari serum adalah 1250,40±43,58 μg/cm2.jam dan dari gel adalah 1285,53±89,09 μg/cm2.jam. Dari uji stabilitas fisik, suhu dingin didapatkan paling stabil, sedangkan uji stabilitas kimia menunjukkan terjadi penguraian Vitamin C pada semua kondisi penyimpanan.

Vitamin C still has antioxidant and antiwrinkle activities. The cosmeceutical formulation introduced serum, dossage form which contain a plenty of bioactive peptide compound. Copper-Glysin-L-Histidil-L-Lysin (Cu-GHK) is one of peptide well- known by its antiwrinkle and skin hydration activity. Beacuse of its hydration effect, Cu-GHK might enhance penetration of the other compound in a preparation. Therefore, were made a research to understand the effect of Cu-GHK peptide on vitamin C penetration in serum preparation, and effect of those peptide on its physical and chemical stability. Two kinds of preparation were made, i.e. serum vitamin C with Cu-GHK and gel vitamin C without Cu-GHK. Penetration ability through skin was examined by in vitro Franz diffusion cell test using rat abdomen skin. Total cumulative penetration of vitamin C from serum and gel were 17329 ± 865.55 μg/cm2 and 17869 ± 606.94 μg/cm2 , respectively. The percentage of penetrated vitamin C from serum and gel were 49.98±2.06 % and 54.6±1.44%, respectively. Flux of vitamin C from serum and gel were 1250.40±43.58 μg/cm2.jam and 1285.53±89.09 μg/cm2.hour, respectively. From physical test, cold temperature condition shown the most stable form, while chemical stability test using TLC densitometer revealed vitamin C degradation at all temperature condition.
