"Penerjemahan teks dari buku Occupational Safety and Health for Technologists, Engineers, and Managers ini bertujuan untuk mencari padanan istilah bidang Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja. Anotasi yang menyertai terjemahan bertujuan untuk membahas masalah penerjemahan dan mempertanggungjawabkan padanan yang dipilih sebagai jalan keluar. Dalam hal ini, kegiatan didasarkan pada pengertian bahwa penerjemahan adalah upaya untuk mengungkapkan kembali pesan yang terkandungi dalam teks sumber ke dalam teks sasaran sedemikian rupa sehingga hasilnya wajar dan berterima. Teks sumber banyak mengandungi istilah. Penerjemahan teks jenis ini termasuk penerjemahan teknis. Teks diterjemahkan dengan menggunakan metode semantis-komunikatif. Penggunaan metode itu didukung oleh penerapan berbagai prosedur. Prosedur itu tidak hanya bermanfaat untuk memecahkan masalah penerjemahan istilah, tetapi juga membantu mendapatkan terjemahan yang wajar. Penerjemahan istilah mengikuti ketentuan pemadanan istilah asing ke bahasa Indonesia yang berlaku. Jika ditemukan padanan BSa yang lazim, istilah BSu diterjemahkan dengan padanan itu. Istilah yang belum ada padanannya dalam BSa diterjemahkan semaksimal mungkin dengan memanfaatkan berbagai prosedur dan memperhatikan konteks. Dari penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa mengikuti langkah penerjemahan yang benar, memilih metode yang tepat, menerapkan prosedur, dan memanfaatkan ketentuan yang berlaku dapat memecahkan masalah penerjemahan, termasuk penerjemahan teknis.

The translation of Occupational Safety and Health for Technologists, Engineers, and Managers is aimed at finding out equivalent for Occupational Safety and Health terminology. The annotation accompanying the translation is made to elaborate on translation problems and account for the equivalent chosen as solution. The activity is done by considering that translation is an effort to reproduce source text?s message in natural and acceptable target text. It is technical translation for the source text contains many terms. The text is translated by using semantic-communicative method. The use of the method is supported by applying procedures. The procedures are not only useful to solve problems in translating terms but also helpful to result in proper translation. The translation of terms follows the applicable rules of translating foreign terms into Indonesian. If equivalent is available in target language, source language terms are translated by the equivalent. If there is no equivalent available, the terms are translated as maximum as possible by applying procedures and considering context. It is concluded that following proper steps, choosing appropriate method, applying procedures, and using applicable rules can solve problems related to translation, including technical translation."

"[ABSTRAKTesis ini menyuguhkan terjemahan beranotasi novel The Kaisho. Anotasi dilakukan untuk menjelaskan masalah penerjemahan istilah budaya dan penyelesaiannya. Keunikan novel dari segi budaya dan keinginan untuk memperkenalkan budaya latar TSu menjadi dasar penerjemahan yang menganut ideologi pengasingan, tanpa mengabaikan ideologi pelokalan. Ideologi pelokalan hanya digunakan pada bagian-bagian tertentu untuk mencapai pemahaman pembaca TSa. Metode penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah metode semantis-komunikatif dengan penggunaan berbagai teknik yang mendukung kesepadanan makna dan kewajaran bentuk. Penerjemahan yang melibatkan teks sumber (TSu) yang menghadirkan sejumlah budaya kuat memerlukan upaya dari penerjemah agar tidak terjadi ?penjajahan budaya?. Keterlibatan teks sumber yang menghadirkan sejumlah budaya kuat di dalam penerjemahan ini memerlukan upaya penerjemah untuk menghindari ?penjajahan budaya?. Dalam situasi ini, penerjemah perlu mencondongkan pada lima aspek, (1) pemahaman karakteristik TSu; (2) pemahaman tentang calon pembaca TSa; (3) pemahaman budaya-budaya di dalam TSu dan budaya sasaran; (4) pemahaman makna dalam penyampaian pesan; dan (5) pemahaman bahwa ada perbedaan cara pengungkapan suatu ide pada dua budaya yang berlainan.

ABSTRACTThis thesis presents an annotated translation of the novel The Kaisho. Annotation is performed to explain the problem and its solution translation of the cultural terms. The uniqueness of the novel in terms of culture and the desire to introduce the cultural background of the source text become a basic of translation that adheres to the ideology of foreignization, without ignoring the localization of ideology. The localization only used on certain parts to achieve the target text reader comprehension. Translation method used is semantic-communicative methods with the use of various techniques that support the equivalence of meaning and reasonableness shape. The involvement of the source text that presents a strong culture in this translation requires some effort of the translator to avoid the ?culturally imperialistic?.In this situstion, translator needs to be leaned on five aspects of understanding, (1) understanding of the characteristics of source text; (2) understanding of the potential reader of the target text; (3) understanding of the cultures in the source text and the target text; (4) understanding of the meaning in the delivery of the message; and (5) an understanding that there are different ways of expressing an idea in two different cultures.;This thesis presents an annotated translation of the novel The Kaisho. "Dalam penelitian ini dianalisis prosedur, teknik, dan metode penerjemahan yang dipakai dalam menerjemahkan lirik lagu Take Me Home, Country Roads dalam lirik lagu adaptasi bahasa Jerman Dieser Weg Führt Nach Haus (Neue Version). Lirik lagu dianalisis menggunakan teori prosedur, teknik, dan metode penerjemahan dari Newmark (1988). Penulis mengelompokkan masing-masing lagu per bait, satu bait berisi empat baris. Dengan begitu baik lirik lagu bahasa sumber maupun bahasa sasaran memiliki empat bait yang dianalisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan terbatas pada analisis prosedur, teknik dan metode penerjemahan yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu bahasa sasaran atau unsur lingual saja, kalaupun ada unsur lain seperti kultural atau musikal, hanya dijabarkan sepintas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, prosedur dan teknik yang dipakai dalam adaptasi lagu ini adalah modulasi bebas dan mempunyai fungsi komunikatif dan fungsi estetik. Metode yang dipakai adalah free translation, adaptation, dan idiomatic translation. Penerjemah dalam adaptasi juga memperhatikan unsur-unsur seperti jumlah suku kata, pemilihan kata, dan rima.

This study analyzes translation procedure, technique, and methods used to translate Take Me Home, Country Roads song lyrics into German adaptation lyrics in Dieser Weg Führt Nach Haus (Neue Version). The lyrics were analyzed using translation procedure, technique, and methods theory by Peter Newmark (1988). The lyrics of two songs are grouped by verse, one verse contains four lines. Therefore both songs will have four verses to analyze. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and is limited to translation procedure, technique, and methods used or lingual matter, other matters e.g. cultural or musical are briefly discussed. According to the results, translation procedure, technique, and methods used are free modulation, communicative purpose, and aesthetic purpose. Methods used are free translation, adaptation and idiomatic translation. The translator also takes into account elements like syllable count, word choice, and rhyme."

Hal itu bertujuan agar pembaca sasaran lebih mudah mengerti makna sebuah lagu itu, karena isi dari sebuah lagu biasanya berupa kata kiasan. Penelitian ini membahas prosedur dan metode terjemahan lagu I See the Light ke dalam bahasa Jerman yaitu Endlich sehe ich das Licht. Penilitian ini merupakan deskriptif-kualitatif karena menganalisis korpus data berupa lirik lagu. Data ini diteliti menggunakan prosedur penerjemahan Vinay dan Darbelnet, Molina dan Albir, dan metode V diagram Newmark. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan prosedur dan metode terjemahan yang digunakan penerjemah pada lirik lagu I See the Light ke dalam bahasa Jerman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode utama yang digunakan adalah metode komunikatif dan prosedur yang paling dominan untuk menerjemahkan lagu tersebut adalah modulasi.

Nowadays, music is in great demand. Including songs in a motion picture, which is a soundtrack. A song can be translated into multiple languages such as an English song translated into German. It aims to make it easier for target readers to understand the meaning of a song, because the content of a song is usually a figurative word. If we do not have knowledge of the source language, it will be difficult to understand the meaning. This study discusses the procedure and method used in translating the song I See the Light into German, namely Endlich sehe ich das Licht. This research was a descriptive-qualitative because it analyzes the corpus of data in the form of song lyrics. These data were examined using the translation procedure of Vinay and Darbelnet, Molina and Albir, and Newmark's V-chart method. The purpose of this study is to describe the translation procedures and methods used by the translator of the I See the Light song lyrics into German. The results of this study showed that the main method and procedure used for translate that song are the communicative method and modulation procedure."

Anotasi tidak hanya membahas permasalahan pernerjemahan dari segi linguistik tetapi juga dari segi sosial-budaya. Tujuan terjemahan beranotasi adalah memberikan pertanggungjawaban padanan yang dipilih pada penerjemahan mandiri yang dilakukan oleh penerjemah.Terjemahan anotasi ini akan membahas penerjemahan novel Under the Dragon: Travels in a Betrayed Land, karya Rory Maclean. Novel ini dipilih berdasarkan ketertarikan penerjemah pada cerita yang merupakan kisah nyata dan berisi kekayaan budaya. Metafora dan adegan percintaan dalam teks menjadi tantangan dalam menerjemahkan. Dalam menerjemahkan, penerjemah berusaha sedemikian rupa untuk mengalihkan pesan bukan bentuk. Metode yang digunakan dalam menerjemahkan adalah metode komunikatif. Metode ini dipilih dengan tujuan agar pesan tersampaikan dengan baik. Ada lima permasalahan utama yang dibahas dalam bagian anotasi: istilah asing, satuan ukuran, metafora, kalimat dan ungkapan. Beberapa teknik penerjemahan diterapkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan pemadanan.Dari analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerjemahan bukanlah pekerjaan yang mudah karena tidak ada bahasa dan kebudayaan yang sama persis. Namun, penerjemahan bukanlah hal yang mustahil. Penerjemah harus menggali berbagai informasi dan mendapatkan ide kreatif dalam menemukan solusi berbagai permasalah penerjemahan yang is hadapi.

ABSTRACT

Annotated translation is a translation with annotation on discussion of problems in translation and their solutions. Not only problems in linguistics but also in socio-cultural are discussed in the annotation. The purpose of this annotated translation is to provide responsibility of the equivalent words chosen for the independent translation done.

This annotated translation will discuss the translation of novel: Under The Dragon: Travels in a Betrayed Land, by Rory Maclean. The reason in choosing this novel is derived from the translator's interest in a story based on reality and culture heritage. Metaphors and the love scenes challenge the translator to render than. When translating, the translator gives such effort to transfer meaning. The method used in the translation is communicative. The purpose of using this method is to convey the message in the text well. There are five problems discussed in the annotation: metaphors, foreign words, measurement, sentences and expression.

From the analysis, it is concluded that translation is not a simple work because there are no languages and cultures that are similar in this world. However, translating is not impossible, there are- a lot of methods and techniques that can be chosen when translating. Translator should also dig as much information as possible and be creative to find solution of the problems he/she faces in translating the source text."

"Pengukuran kualitas terjemahan satire perlu mempertimbangkan parameter kesepadanan makna dan kemiripan interpretatif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah pencapaian kualitas terjemahan satire yang melibatkan makna tekstual dan relevansi kontekstual. Analisis makna tekstual meliputi analisis tema, analisis naming dan proses, serta analisis polaritas dan modalitas. Analisis relevansi kontekstual digunakan untuk menentukan derajat relevansi yang menunjukkan kesamaan interpretasi maksud satire pada TSu dan TSa. Adapun analisis kualitas terjemahan digunakan untuk menentukan kualitas terjemahan satire. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang berupa studi kasus penerjemahan satire dalam novel Animal Farm dengan mengkaji produk penerjemahan novel Animal Farm sebagai TSu dan novel Binatangisme sebagai TSa. Data yang digunakan berupa satire pada TSu dan terjemahannya di dalam TSa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya makna tekstual yang tetap lebih banyak daripada makna tekstual yang bergeser. Makna tekstual yang tetap berfungsi mempertahankan makna, sedangkan makna tekstual yang bergeser untuk menambahkan makna satire. Pemertahanan makna tekstual ditunjukkan dengan struktur tema, naming dan proses, serta polaritas dan modalitas yang tidak bergeser. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan derajat relevansi tinggi pada satire lebih banyak daripada derajat relevansi rendah. Derajat relevansi berpengaruh pada interpretasi satire. Pengukuran derajat relevansi satire melibatkan eksplikatur, premis terimplikasi, dan kesimpulan terimplikasi. Kesamaan premis dan kesimpulan terimplikasi menunjukkan tingginya derajat relevansi satire, sedangkan perbedaan premis dan kesimpulan terimplikasi menunjukkan rendahnya derajat relevansi satire. Makna tekstual dan derajat relevansi berkontribusi terhadap pengukuran kualitas terjemahan satire.

Translation quality assessment concerned in the equivalence of meaning and interpretative resemblance. The research aims to accomplishment of translation quality assessment satire using the textual meaning and contextual relevance. Textual meaning covers analysis of theme, naming and process as well as polarity and modality. Relevance analysis is determined by relevance degree and shows the similar interpretation of satire in source text (ST) and target text (TT). Meanwhile, translation quality analysis indicates the translation quality of satire. The study belongs to qualitative research with a case study of translation satire in Animal Farm novel. It discusses Animal Farm novel as ST and its translation Binatangisme as TT. The data is satire in ST and its translation in TT. The results show that the maintenance of textual meaning of translation satire is more than a shift of textual meaning. The maintenance of textual meaning preserves the meaning of satire, while the shift of textual meaning adds the meaning of satire. The maintenance of textual meaning indicates the preserving theme, naming and process, as well as modality and polarity. The results also describe high relevance degree in satire more than low relevance degree. The relevance degree has impacted in interpretation of satire. The evaluation of relevance degree involves explicature, implicated premises, and implicated conclusion. The similar implicated premise dan conclusion indicate the high relevance degree, while the difference implicated premise and conclusion shows the low relevance degree. Textual meaning and degree of relevance contribute to translation quality assessment of satire."

"Terjemahan beranotasi sebagai tugas akhir ini, bertujuan untuk memberikan pertanggungjawaban atas padanan yang dipilih dalam menerjemahkan secara mandiri buku How Come ke bahasa Indonesia. Teks sumber yang saya pilih adalah teks teknis, dan berjenis ilmiah populer. Dalam menerjemahkan saya menggunakan ideologi domestikasi dan metode komunikatif mengingat teks yang bersifat informatif. Unsur yang dipermasalahkan dalam penerjemahan dan dianotasi ada empat kelompok, yaitu istilah, nama jenis, idiom, dan tanda baca. Dengan demikian, sejumlah prosedur digunakan agar berbagai masalah yang ditemukan dalam penerjemahan dapat diatasi. Prosedur penerjemahan adalah transferensi, padanan budaya, penjelasan tambahan, calque, dan transposisi. Selain itu, untuk mencari padanan yang lazim dalam budaya BSa, digunakan berbagai rujukan baik dari narasumber, internet, penelusuran pustaka, dan berbagai kamus. Survei dan wawancara dengan narasumber digunakan untuk mengetahui kelaziman dalam budaya BSa selain pemaharnam teks sumber. Akhirnya dapat disimpulkan dari penelitian ini bahwa penerapan prosedur yang tepat dapat membantu penerjemah untuk mengatasi permasalahan penerjemahan akibat pertemuan dua budaya.

The objective of this final annotated translation assignment is to give justification of the equivalances chosen in translating the book How Come into Indonesian language independently. The source text chosen is a technical text and the type is popular science. The ideology used here is domestication and the method is communicative which is related to informative text. Some elements to be annotated is categorized into four groups: terms, common nouns, idioms, and punctuations. Therefore, some procedures are used in order to cope with the problems found in the translation. They are transference, cultural equivalance, contextual conditioning, calque, and transposition. Besides, to achieve a natural equivalance in the TL culture, some references, Internet, and dictionaries are used. Conducting surveys and interviews to gain the naturalness in TL culture and also comprehensibility of the SL. The conclusion of this research is, that the application of the appropriate method could overcome the translation problems which is caused by the two different cultures."
