"Tabot merupakan upacara tradisional Bengkulu yang bernafaskan Islam. Upacara tabot ini pada dasarnya merupakan peringatan atas gugurnya Hassan--Hussein, cucu Nabi Muhammad SAW sebagai syuhada di Padang Karbala. Upacara tabot dibawa ke Bengkulu oleh muslim India yang bekerja membangun benteng Inggeris Marlborough pada abad ke-17 Masehi. Tabot sarat dengan ritual keagamaan. Mulai dari persiapan, pelaksanaan hingga akhir upacara tidak terlepas dari kegiatan keagamaan. Tabot juga sarat dengan simbol-simbol religius yang mengandung makna yang dalam. Tabot walaupun bukan merupakan kebudayaan asli daerah Bengkulu, namun karena eksistensinya sudah sangat lama dan tidak bertentangan dengan kebudayaan setempat, maka kebudayaan ini dapat diterima dengan baik. Bahkan sekarang, kebudayaan tabot sudah dapat diidentikkan dengan kebudayaan Bengkulu. Selain itu, kebudayaan tabot ini juga telah menjadi primadona pariwisata budaya daerah Bengkulu."

This study aims to look at now The Culture and Tourism Office of Bantul Regency use social media in preserving local culture and disseminating information on art and culture as well as the natural wealth in Bantul Regency. This study drew the data from observation and related materials from libraries and internet. The results of this study indicate social media plays an important role in preserving culture preservation in Bantul regency. Websites have been used to inform the activities of The Culture and Tourism Office of Bantul Regency in preserving local culture. It also disseminates schedules of cultural events as well as photos and videos."

"Kondisi perkembangan kesenian utamanya seni pertunjukan tradisional Indonesia sekarang ini masih dirasakan belum mendapatkan perhatian yang cukup dari para pihak terkait baik dari pihak penentu kebijakan (dalam hal ini Kementerian Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata RI), para pelaku seni dan para pemasar seni maupun penggemarnya. Hal tesebut dapat dilihat dengan adanya persepsi/ anggapan dari berbagai kelompok masyarakat mengenai seni itu sendiri. Anggapan-anggapan tersebut antara lain: mereka yang menganggap bahwa kesenian (seni pertunjukan tradisional) lahir karena suatu kebutuhan untuk mengagungkan asma Tuhan YME atau membuat suatu tradisi bagi masyarakatnya, mereka yang menganggap bahwa seni adalah suatu karya yang dapat dinikmati baik bagi dirinya sendiri maupun orang lahir dan tidak pernah memikirkan untuk mendapatkan nilai ekonomi/ penghasilan dari hasil karyanya tersebut, kelompok masyarakat seni yang menyadari bahwa kesenian dapat dinikmati oleh masyarakat, bersama-sama dengan kegiatan pariwisata. Pagelaran-pagelaran semi tradisional ini biasa dilaksanakan sebagai pelengkap kehadiran wisatawan di daerah tujuan wisata, kelompok masyarakat utamanya para pelaku seni pertunjukan tradisional yang melihat peluang adanya penggemar seni tradisional Indonesia di luar negeri mencoba dengan caranya sendiri sehingga mereka mampu mengadakan pagelaran di luar negeri. Para penentu kebijakan pada umumnya masih menganggap bahwa kebudayaan termasuk kesenian khususnya seni pertunjukan tradisional di dalam negeri dapat digunakan sebagai perekat persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa sedangkan untuk di luar negeri dipergunakaa sebagai salah satu alat diplomasi untuk meningkatkan persahabatan antar bangsa.
Pokok bahasan dalam tesis ini adalah mengenai strategi komunikasi pemasaran untuk mengembangkan seni pertunjukan tradisional. Penulis melakukan analisa dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Adapun metode pengumpulan data menggunakan analisis data sekunder dan indepth interview untuk memperoleh data primer.
Dalam tesis ini, model perencanaan komunikasi pemasaran dari Smith (1996) dan bentuk-bentuk komunikasi pemasaran menurut Kotler (2000) merupakan model yang sangat relevan dalam kaitannya dengan model Strategi Komunikasi Pemasaran Seni Pertunjukan Tradisional.
Dengan dukungan komunikasi pemasaran yang tepat, sebuah kesenian tradisional khususnya seni pertunjukan tradisional pun dapat dijadikan industri yang memberikan manfaat dan keuntungan seluas-luasnya bagi Para pendukung seni di dalamnya. Tak jarang sebuah seni pertunjukan tradisional yang sebelumnya dilupakan dan dipandang tidak memiliki potensi bisnis (komersial), dengan pendekatan komunikasi pemasaran ternyata hasilnya menjadi tak terduga bahkan luar biasa. Dengan memasarkan seni pertunjukan tradisional khususnya ke mancanegara, Indonesia juga dapat memperbaiki citra bangsa di mata bangsa-bangsa lain. Pada saatnya nanti seni pertunjukan tradisional Indonesia diharapkan dapat sejajar kedudukannya dengan pariwisata sehingga seni pertunjukan tradisional dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap bangsa, yaitu dapat memberikan perolehan devisa negara.

Marketing Communication Strategy for Traditional Art Performance (Study: Strategy Marketing Communications for Traditional Art Performance The Indonesian Excellency of Culture and Tourism)Art development, especially traditional art performance in Indonesia is revealed as yet to have a sufficient attention by the decision-maker (government - Department of Tourism & Cultural), the artist and business sectors. This situation can be seen from some perceptions to the meaning of `traditional art' by some groups of people. Some people thought art was born from the need of religions (i.e. praise to the God) then create a `tradition' to those own people. Some other thought art is an activity that can be enjoyable by everyone but not for business purposes. These people thought that traditional art can not be commercialized (i.e. benefit purposes). They thought their traditional art was meant for their own group, not to be exposed for different purposes. They even don't think of getting economic value (revenue) from their art creation. However, there are specific groups of people who are aware that traditional art is economically potential and it is enjoyable/consumable by lot of people. These groups thought traditional art performances can be explored for a business purposes, especially in conjunction with `tourism'. Indonesian traditional art is used to be as a complementary to the tourism in some favorite tourism destinations. Recently, groups of people (especially the traditional artist) have seen the opportunity for traditional art performances to be more recognized by domestic or foreign tourists. They are aware of potential around the world fans for Indonesian traditional art. Given to this opportunity, Indonesian traditional artist try with their own way to be able to perform overseas. On the other hand, in general the decision maker (Government or investors) may still thinking that traditional art as part of culture is mainly good to be used for uniting the country, and in overseas, this can be used as a diplomatic tool for foreign relationship.
The main discussion of this thesis is about the marketing communication strategy in developing traditional art show business (commercial traditional art performances). Qualitative methods were used to support the analysis. In-depth interview and support data gathering were also used to get the primary data."
