"This book shows how Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) can be used for operations management in public institutions. It covers theory and practical applications, ranging from tracking public health trends to mapping transportation routes to charting the safest handling of hazardous materials. Along with an expert line-up of contributors and case studies, the editor provides a complete overview of how to use GIS as part of a successful, collaborative data analysis, and how to translate the information into cost-saving decisions, or even life-saving ones."

"The result of the UK referendum in June 2016 on membership of the European Union had immediate repercussions across the UK, the EU and internationally. As the dust begins to settle, attention is now naturally drawn to understanding why this momentous decision came about and how and when the UK will leave the EU. What are the options for the new legal settlements between the UK and the EU? What will happen to our current political landscape within the UK in the time up to and including its exit from the EU? What about legal and political life after Brexit? Within a series of short essays, Brexit Time explores and contextualises each stage of Brexit in turn: pre-referendum; the result; the process of withdrawal; rethinking EU relations; and post-Brexit. During a time of intense speculation and commentary, this book offers an indispensable guide to the key issues surrounding a historic event and its uncertain aftermath."

"The increasing awareness of the importance of competition brings about the introduction for such a regulation at the national level and this is witnessed by the enactment of the Malaysian Competition Act 2010. The passing of a general competition law like the Competition Act 2010 will definitely have an impact on sectoral laws like the provisions in the Economic Regulation of the CMA 1998. Normally general competition law prevail over sector-specific law that regulates competition unless exemption to such laws is done which even if given, will have to be lifted at some time and the trend in the develop- ment in this area of law also supports this. Therefore, the integration of sector-specific competition laws into the general competition law will have to be made."

Unlike other energy storage devices; for example an air compressor which immediately releases almost all of its energy capacity at the start of use, or a capacitor, whose energy release rate decreases in proportion to the amount of energy stored; A lead-acid battery has a relatively stable rate of energy release from full capacity, until its capacity is nearly exhausted. When a lead-acid battery's capacity is nearly exhausted, it will reach a state of deep discharge, where its internal resistance will rapidly increase, thereby inhibiting the rate of energy release and causing an increase in entropy. However, as a lead-acid battery experiences more and more discharge cycles, the battery will degrade, so its rate of energy release will be disturbed and cause the internal resistance to increase too early. In this study, a new lead-acid battery and a used lead-acid battery were given the same load to compare their voltage, current and temperature output from 100% full capacity until the capacity was exhausted, so that the overall condition of the used lead-acid battery can be compared to a new lead-acid battery. The research results show that new lead-acid batteries lose current and voltage completely unlike previous observations, in a much more linear fashion compared to used lead-acid batteries. This linear loss causes the new battery to have a much more difficult to observe deep discharge point, and also causes it to lose power faster than the used battery."

"When news was new investigates how news has re–invented itself at different historical moments, from medieval storytellers to 19th century telegraph news agencies to 21st century bloggers. Tracks the evolution of news through history. Explores the regular reconstruction of news, the salability of news, and whether objectivity matters. Provides an innovative approach to the history of news ; clear, succinct writing; and effective use of photographs, maps, and tables which have strong appeal. Offers a new way of understanding news in our history and culture."

"he authors investigated whether sex-specific norms should be used to assess symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) in girls. It was hypothesized that (a) there would be a group of girls who exhibit ADHD or ODD symptoms using sex-specific norms but not using Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th ed.; DSM-IV; American Psychiatric Association, 1994) criteria; (b) these girls would be significantly impaired relative to typically developing girls. These hypotheses were examined using behavior ratings completed by mothers and teachers of 1,491 elementary school students. Results showed that there was a small group of girls who did not meet DSM-IV criteria for ADHD or ODD but who had elevated ADHD and ODD scores when sex-specific norms were used. The same was not true for boys. The girls identified with sex-specific norms were more impaired than other girls. These results suggest that there may be a small number of girls who have behaviors and impairment that are consistent with ADHD and ODD, but they are not currently being identified by DSM-IV criteria."
