Stool samples were collected and examined for soil-transmitted helminthic and protozoal infection in the first grade of three
primary schools, located on Pulau Panggang and Pulau Pramuka, which are parts of a group of islands not far from the north
coast of Jakarta. The stool examinations were part of activities during a control program on soil-transmitted helminthic
infections. The schools have never participated with control programs on soil-transmitted helminthiases. For the examination
of the samples a semi-quantitative Kato thick smear method was used and the direct smear with a 2% iodine solution. Four
intestinal helminth species and five protozoa species were found in a total of 101 stool samples. Ascaris and Trichuris
infections were found in 68.8% or more. Hookworm infection was only found in one school (2.9%). Eggs of Hymenolepis
nana were detected in one sample. Cysts of Entamoeba histolytica and Entamoeba coli were both found in 5.0% of the
samples, whereas Endolimax nana was recovered from 2.0% of the samples. High prevalence rates were detected for
Blastocystis hominis (36.0%) and for Giardia lamblia it was 30.0%. Most of the Ascaris infections were categorized as light
infections at School I (69.0%) and not a single heavy infection were found in this school. In School II and III most of the
infections were moderate i.e. respectively 51.4 and 81.8%. Also in Schools II and III heavy infections were detected,
respectively 11.4 and 5.8%. Fertilized Ascaris eggs were detected in 93.1%, 100% and 95.5% at School I, II and III respectively.
As a whole among 86 positive samples 96.5% were recorded as samples with fertilized eggs, whereas 3.5% contained
unfertilized eggs. The high prevalences of Ascaris and Trichuris infections in this area could be expected due to the low
level of environmental hygiene and sanitation. Among the protozoal infections B. hominis and G. lamblia were the
dominant species."

Preliminary Study on Marine Microalgae from Pramuka Island Waters, Thousand Islands: The
exploration on marine microalgae from Pramuka Island waters has been done on September 2004. The research is one of the parts of microalgae exploration researches?including isolation and collection?that aim to invent and apply the advantages of microafgae as natural resources, continuously. The sampling site based on the compass direction i.e. north, east, south, and west of Pramuka Island. In the first examination have been found 20 genera from 3 divisions could be found in Pramuka Island waters. Those are 1 genus of Cyanophyta/ Cyanobacteria, 16 genus of Bacillariophyceae of Chromophyta, and 3 genus of Dinophyta. Other microalgae from those three divisions and Chlorophyta and Haptophyta also can be found but still very difficult to be identify, because the microalgae is very tiny. Continued research on microalgae diversity still need to be done in order to better understanding the floristic study of microalgae from Thousand Islands.

"Indonesia is a centre of global marine bio-resources, particularly on its coral reefs ecosystem. Besides its physical ftmction, coral reefs also provide an aesthetic
function. This beauty of these reefs pioneered the ornamental fish hobbyists to keep the corals and marine iish in their own aquarium tank. Marine ornamental fish trade from Indonesia to the world had started around the early of '80s and still
continues to improve until today. Sustainable utilization plan in order to reduce the exploitation pressure on the reefs, particularly for aquarium industry, is done through coral captivity or known as coral culture. However, since the
commencement of this activity there has been no research yet which can explain on the gap between the action regulation on coral culture for the aquarium industry and its implementation in fields."

"An integrated study was conducted on nutrition, physical examination and soil transmitted helminthes (S-TH) in four
priminary schools in Cibubur, East Jakarta. In this report is shown data on prevalence and intensity of S-TH infections.
Very low prevalences were found for Ascaris lumbricoides (0.0 – 1.6 %) and Trichuris trichiura (2.5 – 8.9 %). Also
egg counts per gram (EPG) were very low. The prevalence and intensity rates were very low possibly due to factors
such as self-medication, reguler health education and efforts of surrounding factories to improve the health of the
community.

ABSTRACT
Pramuka Island, located in North Kepulauan Seribu, is a micro island with land area around 16Ha, surrounded by vast waters. Should be classified into micro island, Pramuka Island is considered too small according to definition of small island in UU No.27 Tahun 2007 about Management of Coastal and Small Islands, which maximum land area is 2000 km2. It has an impact on the lack of appropriate regulations to accommodate the peculiarities of micro island, including it?s spatial planning. Therefore, through this undergraduated thesis, I want to find out how the spatial planning works on Pramuka Island during this time, and how the spatial planning supposed to be in accordance with the peculiarities of the micro island. The result is that, the existing spatial planning has not yet accommodated the peculiarities of Pulau Pramuka as a micro island. Micro island?s spatial planning should have spatial structure and spatial pattern derived from comprehensive site analysis of the micro island, have integration between land space and sea space within a group of micro island, and have disaster mitigation aspect through adaptive strategy that is implied onto the site.
