"Aim: To observe the effect of calorie restriction on the formation of lipid peroxide (malondialdehyde/MDA) caused by free radicals and antioxidant level (glutathione/GSH) among healthy young males during Ramadan fasting.
Subjects and Methods: Prospective self-controlled study was performed on 22 healthy men aged 20-25 years who were presumed to be undergoing the calorie restriction. Subjects were observed four times: day 7 prior to the Ramadan month, the 7lh and 21"' days of Ramadan and day 7 after Ramadan. All data are presented as mean averages (SEM); all statistical comparisons were made using Anova Repeated Measures and Pearson's bivariate correlation.
Results: Caloric intake decreased by 22 - 25% and MDA decreased significantly (p- 0.002), while GSH levels increased significantly (p= 0.047). There was no correlation between calorie restriction and MDA levels (p= 0.27; r= 0.25), but calorie restriction and GSH were correlated (p= 0.049; r= -0.18).
Conclusion: This study showed that calorie restriction during Ramadan fasting decreased MDA and raised plasma GSH levels."

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian teh hijau
terhadap stres oksidatif postprandial pasca asupan makanan tinggi lemak pada
individu dewasa muda sehat. Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental dengan
desain alokasi acak menyilang tersamar tunggal yang melibatkan 19 orang
subyek, 8 laki-laki dan 11 perempuan, dengan median usia 20 tahun (19–
21tahun). Subyek penelitian diberikan 6 g teh hijau dalam 300 mL air atau air
putih setelah mengonsumsi burger dengan total energi 1066 kkal dan komposisi
lemak 57,71% pada dua kesempatan yang berbeda. Kadar MDA plasma diukur
pada awal dan 2 jam setelah mengonsumsi makanan dan minuman yang
diberikan. Median perubahan kadar MDA plasma pada pemberian teh hijau
adalah 0,04 (-0,19–0,11) dan rerata perubahan kadar MDA plasma pada pemberian
air putih adalah 0,01 ± 0,04. Tidak didapatkan perbedaan bermakna perubahan
kadar MDA plasma 2 jam postprandial antara pemberian teh hijau dibandingkan
dengan pemberian air putih (p=0,296). Pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan
bahwa konsumsi teh hijau dosis tunggal pasca asupan makanan tinggi lemak tidak
memberikan penurunan stres oksidatif postprandial pada individu dewasa muda
sehat.

ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to evaluate the ability of green tea cathecins to
modify postprandial oxidative stress after a high-fat meal in healthy young adults.
This is a randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled trial which involved 19
subjects, 8 men and 11 women, with median age 20 years (19–21 years) After
consuming a high-fat burger (1066 kcal with 57,71% fat), subjects were given 6 g
green tea in 300 ml water or drinking water on two separate occasions. Blood
samples were collected pre-meal (fasted) and 120 min post meal, and assayed for
plasma malondialdehyde (MDA). Median changes of MDA concentration after
green tea was 0,04 (-0,19–0,11) and mean changes of MDA concentration after
drinking water was 0,01 ± 0,04. There was no significant difference of MDA
concentration changes between green tea and drinking water. The data indicate
that consuming single dose green tea after a high-fat meal could not attenuate
postprandial oxidative stress in healthy young adult."

"Penelitian ini fokus pada analisis pengaruh investor sentiment selama bulan Ramadhan terhadap abnormal return saham perusahaan pada subsektor retail periode 2009-2013 di Bursa Efek Indonesia dengan menggunakan metode event study. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan dikembangkan dengan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Ramadhan effect tidak menghasilkan cumulative average abnormal return (CAAR) yang signifikan bagi investor selama periode peristiwa dalam setiap periode di penelitian ini. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata abnormal return sebelum peristiwa Ramadhan tidak berbeda dengan rata-rata abnormal return setelah peristiwa Ramadhan di setiap periode penelitian.

This study focused on influence of investor sentiment during Ramadhan on abnormal return of retail trade on IDX by using event study during 2009-2013. This study was a quantitative research and was developed by descriptive analysis. This study did not show significant results on cumulative average abnormal return (CAAR) for investors during event window in each study period. In addition, this study also showed that the average abnormal return before Ramadhan is no different to the average abnormal return after Ramadhan in each study period.

"ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine sway characteristics of a supported leg during a lateral stepping over obstacle task with different obstacle height and movement patterns, using a small triaxial accelerometer. We examined 20 healthy young adults to assess their trochanter malleolar distance traveled during a lateral stepping over obstacle task with obstacle heights of 30%, 50%, and 70%. The lateral stepping over tasks revealed flexion and extension patterns. We directed the subjects to grasp a forward handrail, perform the lateral step, and subsequently step over to the side. We calculated synthetic acceleration (SA) from acceleration data measured using two small triaxial accelerometers and two web cameras. We calculated supporting leg sway; RMS phases of X-, Y-, and Z-axes; and SA data. The subjects showed increased RMS of Y-axis and SA according to the obstacle height for the flexion pattern; however, they did not show change in RMS of Y-axis and SA according to the obstacle height for the extension pattern. During lateral stepping over, the RMS of Y-axis and SA for the flexion pattern were higher than for the extension pattern. The findings for the flexion pattern suggest that the center of gravity shifts higher according to increased obstacle height; consequently, the supporting leg becomes unstable. The findings for the extension pattern suggest that the "screw-home" rotation effect of the supporting leg during movement can support lateral stepping over better than the flexion pattern."

"Untuk melihat profil pembentukan DNA Adduct (8-OHdG) sebagai indikator kerusakan DNA, dilakukan studi in vitro pembentukan DNA Adduct (8-OHdG) dengan calf thymus DNA dan beberapa senyawa yang memiliki toksisitas tinggi, seperti PAH (Benzo[a]piren), TiO2 dan CuCl2 sebagai pemicu radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan DNA secara oksidatif dan memicu peristiwa karsinogenesis,. Pada percobaan ini, calf thymus DNA diinkubasi dengan senyawa Benzo[a]piren dan CuCl2 di bawah kondisi variasi pH serta suhu. Dilakukan pula inkubasi calf thymus DNA dan TiO2 dengan bantuan radiasi sinar UV (254 nm) yang dapat menginduksi terbentuknya spesi oksigen reaktif (ROS) sehingga menyebabkan kerusakan oksidatif DNA. Dari hasil penelitian ini, ketiga senyawa tersebut memiliki potensi dalam pembentukan DNA Adduct (8- OHdG). Rasio kemurnian calf thymus DNA pada λ260/ λ280 yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah ~1.9. Terjadi pergeseran puncak panjang gelombang maksimum dari hasil inkubasi calf thymus DNA dan senyawa B[a]P serta CuCl2 yang menandakan bahwa terjadi perubahan struktur DNA. Konsentrasi 8-OHdG pada inkubasi calf thymus DNA dengan senyawa B[a]P dan CuCl2 pada pH 8.5 dan suhu 60°C lebih tinggi dihasilkan dibandingkan dengan inkubasi pada pH 8.5 dan suhu 37°C, yaitu sebesar 120.856 μg/L. Inkubasi calf thymus DNA dengan TiO2 dan sinar UV (254 nm) pada pH 8.5 dapat menghasilkan 8-OHdG sebesar 57.025 μg/L.

This study is conducted to see the profile of DNA Adduct (8-OHdG) formation as DNA damage indicators, by using calf thymus DNA incubated with toxic and carcinogenic compounds. The compounds which could trigger free radicals in this research are PAH(Benzo[a]Pyrene), TiO2, and CuCl2 which could trigger to free radicals lead to oxidative DNA damage and carcinogenesis. Calf thymus DNA was incubated with Benzo[a]Pyrene and CuCl2 compounds under pH and temperature variations. The incubation of calf thymus DNA with TiO2-UV radiation (254 nm) is used to induce the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the process of oxidative DNA damage. Based on research, all of compounds have potency to trigger the formation of DNA Adduct (8-OHdG). The ratio of absorbance to assess the purity of DNA at 260 nm and 280 nm (λ260/ λ280 ) is measured at ~1.9. The shifted peaks at λmax are indicating changes on structures of DNA as a result of calf thymus DNA incubation with B[a]P and CuCl2. The level of 8- OHdG in calf thymus DNA incubation with B[a]P and CuCl2 under pH 8.5 and incubation temperature at 60°C is higher than incubation under pH 8.5 and incubation temperature at 37°C. The level is about 120.856 μg/L. Calf thymus DNA incubation with TiO2-UV radiation (254 nm) under pH 8.5 resulting 8-OHdG level at 57.025 μg/L."
