This study aims to explain the existence of third wave feminism that empowers Japanese women post World War II in the form of the Harajuku fashion subculture Ama-Loli, and to explain Lolita street fashion and Ama-Loli through the eyes of Japanese Ama-Lolis themselves. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. The data collection technique is done by collecting data from several books or journal articles that discuss feminism, women’s empowerment, and Lolita fashion in general as well as those carried out by Japan, Japanese old magazines that specifically feature Lolita fashion that has been digitally archived, as well as informant data obtained through personal interviews with Japanese Ama-Loli models through social media. It should be noted that the feedback and input obtained through a couple informants cannot represent the entire Ama-Loli fashion subculture community in Harajuku. This study proves that there is an element of third wave feminism, which redefines femininity through the women’s point of view and how it emphasizes the women’s choice to feel empowered in the Harajuku fashion subculture, Ama-Loli."
