"Korea Selatan di bawah Amerika Serikat mengadaptasi nilai-nilai demokrasi yang juga sengaja diperkenalkan oleh the United States Army Military Government in Korea (USAMGIK). Setelah USAMGIK berhasil menyelenggarakan pemilihan umum di Korea Selatan pada tahun 1948, pemerintahan Korea Selatan dengan sistem demokrasi pun mulai berjalan di bawah kepemimpinan Rhee. Namun, sentimen Rhee Syngman terhadap komunisme menyebabkan rezimnya menjalankan pemerintahan dengan sikap antikomunisme yang sangat kuat. Bahkan, pandangan anti-komunisme tersebut membuat rezim Rhee Syngman sering kali menyalahgunakan nilai-nilai demokrasi untuk menyingkirkan komunis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini menjelaskan dan menganalisis bagaimana rezim Rhee Syngman memanfaatkan demokrasi Amerika untuk melanggengkan kekuasaan dan menjalankan anti-komunisme. Dengan menerapkan pendekatan behavioral dan teori kelompok kepentingan, penelitian ini mengungkap tindakan-tindakan politik rezim Rhee Syngman terkait demokrasi Amerika dan berbagai dampak dari tindakannya tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rezim Rhee Syngman telah banyak menyalahgunakan nilainilai demokrasi sebagai alat untuk mempertahankan rezimnya dan melawan komunis sejak awal sampai akhir pemerintahan. Hal tersebut menciptakan konflik internal dengan banyak dampak yang juga muncul sejak awal rezim Rhee Syngman berkuasa dan kemudian menjatuhkan rezim meskipun telah mengubah kabinetnya di akhir periode.

South Korea under the United States adopted democratic values which were also deliberately introduced by the United States Army Military Government in Korea (USAMGIK). After USAMGIK successfully held general elections in South Korea in 1948, the South Korean government with a democratic system began to run under the leadership of Rhee. However, Rhee's sentiments towards communism caused his regime to run a government with a very strong anti-communist stance. In fact, this anti-communism view made the Rhee Syngman regime often misuse democratic ideas to get rid of communism. Therefore, this study explains and analyzes how the Rhee Syngman regime takes advantage of American democracy to perpetuate power and carry out anti-communism. By applying a behavioral approach and interest group theory, this study reveals the political actions of the Rhee Syngman regime regarding American democracy and the various impacts of these actions. The results of the study show that the Rhee Syngman regime has misused democratic ideas as a tool to maintain its regime and fight against communism from the beginning to the end of the government. This created an internal conflict with many impacts that also emerged since the beginning of the Rhee Syngman regime in power and then brought down the regime even though it had changed its cabinet at the end of the period."

"Tugas Karya Akhir ini membahas mengenai peran negara dalam mendorong Chaebol dalam pembangunan industri dengan mengambil studi kasus industri otomotif di Korea Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Metode Kualitatif dan menganalisa mengenai peran negara dalam mendorong Chaebol untuk berpartisipasi dalam industri otomotif. Sebagaimana yang umumnya berlaku di negara industri baru yang belum tumbuh, para pebisnis besar di negara industri baru berada dalam kondisi kurang secara modal dan teknologi, peran negara yang besar dengan demikian menjadi sentral sebagai inisiator industrialisasi.Temuan penulis menunjukan bahwa daripada bermotif semata-mata ekonomis, untuk mempromosikan ekspor dan membangun sektor industri ini sebagai garda depan industri, tujuan pengembangan sektor otomotif lebih didasarkan pada faktor ekonomi politik. Begitu juga dengan kondisi para Chaebol yang berpartisipasi dalam industri otomotif, meskipun negara telah memberi kebebasan kepada mereka untuk berpartisipasi dalam sektor industri, namun negara masih memperoleh kontrol kuat melalui instrumen kebijakan yang membatasi ruang gerak para Chaebol.

This Final Paper discusses the role of the state in emboldening the Chaebol in bolstering industrial development which takes automobile industry in South Korea as case study. This research employs qualitative method and analyses the role of the state in encouraging the Chaebol to participate in automobile industry en masse. As generally prevailed in fledgling NIC's, South Korean conglomerates still lack both suffice capital and sophisticated technology. All in all, in such deplorable circumstances to economic growth the role of the state was pivotal as pioneer of industrialization.The finding of this research shows that the reason of the state to burgeon automobile industry was not solely on economic reason, that is to promote export and build this sector as spearhead in industrialization, as a matter of fact it was driven sheerly by political economic logic. So too the Chaebol which participated in automobile industry which was given freedom to participate in industrial sectors yet the state still harnessed them by means of policy instrument."
