"Penelitian ini membahas praktik nilai-nilai patriarki oleh keluarga diaspora Korea di Kanada yang direpresentasikan dalam serial TV Kanada Kim’s Convenience. Serial TV mempunyai peran sebagai media representasi yang dapat menggambarkan sebuah realitas sosial di masyarakat, seperti gambaran kehidupan keluarga diaspora di suatu negara. Salah satu negara yang banyak menjadi tujuan diaspora adalah Kanada. Kanada juga disebut sebagai negara multikultural karena banyaknya populasi imigran dari berbagai negara. Walaupun begitu, masyarakat diaspora, khususnya kelompok minoritas masih kurang direpresentasikan dalam media massa Kanada. Di antara acara TV Kanada yang menampilkan kelompok masyarakat minoritas, terdapat serial TV Kim’s Convenience yang menampilkan orang Asia sebagai pemeran utama. Serial TV ini bercerita tentang keluarga diaspora Korea di Kanada. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis naratif kritis dengan korpus serial TV Kanada Kim’s Convenience musim ke-3 (2019) dan musim ke-4 (2020). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serial TV Kim’s Convenience musim ke-3 dan ke-4 merepresentasikan generasi pertama diaspora Korea yang terwakili oleh pemeran laki-laki Tuan Kim yang masih mempraktikan empat nilai-nilai patriarki, yaitu perempuan bertanggung jawab dalam pekerjaan domestik, kepala keluarga mengontrol dan mengawasi anggota keluarga, kepala keluarga bertanggung jawab atas kesalahan anggota keluarga, dan kepedulian ayah kepada anak laki-laki. Sebaliknya, tokoh perempuan generasi pertama diaspora Korea dalam serial TV ini direpresentasikan sebagai seseorang yang menolak praktik patriarki terhadap dirinya.

This study discusses the practice of patriarchal values by Korean diaspora family in Canada represented in the Canadian TV series Kim's Convenience. TV series has a role as a media representation that can portray social reality in society, such as a representation of a diaspora family life in a country. One of the most popular destinations for diaspora is Canada. Canada is also known as a multicultural country because of the large population of immigrants from various countries. However, the diaspora community, especially visible minorities, are still underrepresented in the Canadian mass media. Among Canadian TV shows featuring visible minorities, there is a TV series, Kim's Convenience, which features Asian people as the main characters. This TV series tells the story of a Korean diaspora family in Canada. This study uses a critical narrative analysis method with the corpus of Canadian TV series Kim's Convenience season 3 (2019) and season 4 (2020). The results of this study show that the TV series Kim's Convenience season 3 and season 4 represent the Korean diaspora's first generation, Mr. Kim, who still practicing four patriarchal values. Those patriarchal values are a woman who is responsible for domestic work, the head of the family who controls and supervises family members, the head of the family who is responsible for the family member’s mistake, and the father's concern for his son. On the other hand, the female character of the Korean diaspora's first generation in this TV series is represented as someone who resists patriarchal practices against her."

"Tujuan Membandingkan reaktivitas kardiovaskular terhadap tes mental dan fi sik antara subjek normotensif dengan riwayat keluarga hipertensi dan subjek normotensif tanpa riwayat keluarga hipertensi. Metode Mahasiswa normotensif dengan (n=40) dan tanpa (n=40) orangtua hipertensi melakukan tes aritmatika dan cold pressor. Kedua tes tersebut terdiri dari fase istirahat pra-tes, fase tes, dan fase istirahat pascates. Parameter kardiovaskular diukur pada tiap fase dengan menggunakan alat pengukur tekanan darah osilometrik otomatis. Data di analisis dengan tes t atau Mann-Whittney. Reaktivitas kardiovaskular diketahui berdasarkan selisih nilai fase tes dengan fase pra-tes. Hasil Kedua kelompok tidak berbeda bemakna dalam usia, indeks masa tubuh, kadar gula darah puasa, dan kadar kreatinin plasma. Subjek normotensif dengan orangtua hipertensi menunjukkan tekanan darah sistolik istirahat (108,33+1,6 vs 103,00+1,6 mmHg) serta hipereaktivitas kardiovaskular (MABP 19,13+1,4 vs 15,5+1,0 mmHg, P= 0,04), yang lebih tinggi secara bermakna terhadap tes mental namun tidak terhadap tes fi sik (MABP 24,26+1,7 vs 21,74+1,7 mmHg) dibandingkan dengan subjek normottensif tanpa orangtua hipertensi. Kesimpulan Subjek normotensi dengan riwayat keluarga hipertensi mempunyai hipereaktifi tas kardiovaskular terhadap tes mental namun tidak terhadap tes fisik dibandingkan dengan subjek normotensi tanpa riwayat keluarga hipertensi. Akan tetapi, belum jelas apakah riwayat keluarga hipertensi atau tekanan darah sistolik istirahat yang berhubungan dengan hipereaktifi tas kardiovaskular terhadap tes mental.

AbstractAim To investigate whether normotensive young adults with family history of hypertension demonstrate exaggerated cardiovascular responses to both mental and physical stimuli as compared to normotensive young adults without family history of hypertension. Methods Normotensive undergraduate students of normotensive parents (n = 40) and of hypertensive father/ mother/both (n = 40), aged 20 ? 30 years, performed serial subtraction test in a sitting position for three minutes. After taking a rest, subjects performed cold pressor test in ninety seconds. In each test, blood pressure and pulse rate were recorded in pre-test, during test, and post-test using an automated oscillometric device. Changes score rather than absolute scores were analyzed using independent t-test or Mann-Whitney. Results There were no signifi cantly differences in age, body mass index, fasting blood sugar, and plasma creatinine between the two groups. Normotensives of hypertensive parents had signifi cantly higher offi ce systolic blood pressure (108.33+1.6 vs 103.00+1.6 mmHg) and delta change score of cardiovascular reactivity to serial subtraction test (MABP 19.13+1.4 vs 15.5+1.0 mmHg, P= 0.04), but not to cold pressor test (MABP 24.26+1.7 vs 21.74+1.7 mmHg) than thosenof normotensive parents. Conclusion Normotensive young adults with family history of hypertension demonstrated exaggerated cardiovascular reactivity to mental test but not to physical test. As compared to normotensive young adults without family history of hypertension However, this familial difference in cardiovascular reactivity to mental test is confused with offi ce blood pressure."
