Altitudinal gradient effect on morphological characters of Calamus javensis Blume (Arecaceae) has been studied in Mountain Kendeng, Mountain Halimun Salak National Park (MHSNP), West Java. The goals of this study were to analyze morphological variation and variation distribution of C. javensis population, also to identify certain characters that affected by altitudinal gradient. 16 morphological characters from stem and leaf were analyzed using Cluster Analysis (CA) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The range of altitude that used in this study was 1000--1300 mdpl, but C. javensis population was absent in 1200--1300 mdpl. CA classified C. javensis specimens into 3 groups. The third group, characterized by few spines on its leaf sheath and spreading basal leaflet, was identified as C. javensis var. inermis. Characters that were analyzed using PCA showed that basal leaflet, spine abundance of leaf sheath, petiole length, basal leaflet shape, stem diameter, and leaf sheath spine length were important characters in morphological variation of C. javensis. Morphological variation of C. javensis showed overlapped distribution. Simple linear regression analysis showed there was no character of C. javensis that significantly affected by altitudinal gradient. In conclusion, morphological characters of C. javensis population in Mountain Kendeng, MHSNP, from 1000 to 1200 m.a.s.l. had not showed the clinal variation yet."

The paradigm of forestry sector still sees wood as the primary outcome resulted in high rates of deforestation in Indonesia. Whereas many other forest products that can be utilized and have high economic value. One of the benefits from forests that have not estimated is environmental services value, especially forest tourism. And one part of forests that have tourism benefits is Mount Halimun Salak National Park. One part of the national park that has a special attraction as a field project of Raptor sanctuary is PTNW Mount Salak I Resort. In PTNW Mount Salak I Resort there are 2 (two) tourist sites, which are Bumi Perkemahan Loji and Wana Wisata Sukamantri. This study aimed to obtain economic value from the site. This research using TCM and CVM method to determine the economic value from tourist area. The value of consumer surplus for TCM method PTNW Mount Salak I Resort is Rp. 909 000 per individual/year or Rp. 6.635.700.000/year, while for WTP value for current state of Rp. 8.500 and for the future condition of Rp. 9.700."

Java Island is a habitat for 6 primate species. Ebony leaf monkey (Trachypithecus auratus) is one of the endemic primates in Java, which has a body size of about 517 mm with an average tail length of 742 mm. Distribution of ebony leaf monkey in West Java is recorded in 12 locations, including Mount Ciremai National Park and Mount Gede Pangrango National Park. However, there is a lack of studies of ebony leaf monkey population in those two national parks. Based on this, this study was formulated with the aim of knowing the population size, population density, and the encounter rates of ebony leaf monkey in those two national park areas. The observed population size of ebony leaf monkey did not differ in the number of individuals in the group. The highest population density of ebony leaf monkey is in the Gunung Putri, while the lowest is in the Cilengkrang. The highest rate of encounter with the lutung budeng was on the Palasari and the lowest was on the Cilengkrang. The presence of the ebony leaf monkey is influenced by the high percentage of canopy cover and the level of human activity in the observation path. In addition, weather factors, observer visibility, and observer ability to detect the presence of ebony leaf monkey also affect the resulting data."

"Palms diversity composition, and density i six selected sites of 15 rectangular plots of 100 x 20 m were successfully studies. The sites are in kasepuhan ciptagelar, which located in the Gunung Halimun Salak National Park in West Java. The sites are in the disturbed primary submontane forest at 800 to 1400 m altitude. Ethnobotanical observations made in some of the villages in kasepuhan ciptagelar proceeded through informal unending open interviews involving some traditional elders, prominent communities, and handicraftsmen. There is no species addition to the park from the kasepuhan cigelar. Three species of rattans (calamus polystachys, C. burckianus, and korthalsia laciniosa) are added to the park from Cibedug, Leuwijaming, Ciptarasa, and Cikidang. Young leaves of doemonorops rubra are used for traditional inner baduy cloth. The use of C. javensis canes for bracelets and rings, and the infructescence of plectocomia elongata for decoration are new findings "
