"This study is an attempt to investigate the general level of fertility in Kafanchan, a town in Kaduna State of Nigeria. The main concern is to examine the individual and group behavior of the population with specific reference to the prevailing fertility rates. The paper examines some of socio-cultural factors that relate to fertility history, attitude related to fertility and knowledge and use of contraception. On the average, fertility in this community is high. Fertility is high while the mortality is low. However, as a measure towards demographic readjustment, a further reduction in the level of mortality may lead to decline in fertility. Some future planning implications of the existing fertility levels are discussed in the light of the current population policy and development planning in the country."

"
This study aims to find a relationship between gender equity and fertility transition in OECD countries as developed nations. This study looks at whether gender equity in family institutions have a positive effect on fertility in developed nations with low fertility. A fixed effects panel regression is used with panel data from 28 OECD countries between the years 2000 2012 to see whether gender equity has an effect on fertility. Results of the analysis show that an increase in gender equity in family institutions have a positive effect on fertility in countries where gender equity in individual institutions is high. This finding aligns with McDonald rsquo s 2000 theory which states that fertility will reach very low levels when gender equity is high in individual institutions is high low in family institutions.gender equity, social institutions, fertility"
