"ABSTRAKKeseimbangan kekuatan karakter menurut Schwartz dan Sharpe 2006 adalah kekuatan karakter yang saling bergantung dan beroperasi pada sistem yang kompleks dan dinamis. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah keseimbangan antara kekuatan karakter berhubungan dengan makna dalam kehidupan pada 300 ibu bekerja. Dalam penelitian ini, terdapat empat pasang kekuatan karakter yang penting dijaga keseimbangannya oleh ibu bekerja yaitu kebaikan dan kecerdasan sosial, syukur dan harapan, semangat dan pengaturan diri, serta cinta dan keberanian. Pengukuran variabel dilakukan menggunakan Meaning in Life Questionnare MLQ dan Values in action inventory of strengths VIA-IS. Menggunakan regresi polinomal, hasil menunjukkan bahwa keseimbangan antara kekuatan karakter kebaikan dan kecerdasan sosial t = 8.28, p < 0.05 serta semangat dan pengaturan diri t = .17, p < 0.05 secara signifikan memprediksi makna dalam kehidupan pada ibu bekerja, namun pada keseimbangan pasangan kekuatan karakter harapan dan syukur t = 8.28, p> 0.05 serta cinta dan keberanian t = -.897, p> 0.05 gagal memprediksi makna dalam kehidupan pada ibu bekerja. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keseimbangan antara pasangan kekuatan karakter kebaikan dan kecerdasan sosial serta semangat dan pengaturan diri memiliki peran penting dalam memprediksi makna dalam kehidupan pada ibu bekerja.

ABSTRACTBased on Schwartz and Sharpe 2006 , balance among character strength is a character strengths are interdependent and exist within a complex and dynamic system. This study was conducted to determine the correlation between balance among character strength and meaning in life in 300 working mothers. In this study, there are four pairs of the character strength that are should be maintained in balance by every working mothers, such as social intelligence and kindness, zest and self regulation, hope and gratitude, also love and bravery. Measurement of variables were performed using Meaning in Life Questionnare MLQ and Values in action inventory of strengths VIA IS . Using polynomial regression, results indicated that the balance between character strengths social intelligence and kindness t 8.28, p 0.05 also zest and self regulation t .176, p 0.05 significantly predict meaning in life in working mothers, and the balance between character strengths hope and gratitude t 8.28, p 0.05 also love and bravery t .897, p 0.05 is not predicting meaning in life in working mothers. Findings of this study show that the balance among character strengths social intelligence and kindness also zest and self regulation has an important role to predict meaning in life in working mothers.
