"The patristic, ecclesiological, and liturgical revival in the Orthodox Church has had a profound impact on world Orthodoxy and the ecumenical movement. Orthodox leaders have also contributed to the movements efforts in inter-religious dialogue, especially with Muslims. Yet this book is the first comprehensive attempt to assess an Orthodox position on Islam. It explains why, despite being neighbors for centuries, relations between Orthodox Christians and Muslims have become increasingly complex as internal and external forces challenge their ability to understand each other and live in peace. It demonstrates how a growing number of Orthodox scholars and leaders have reframed the discussion on Islam, while endorsing and participating in dialogue with Muslims. It shows how a positive relationship with Muslims (and Islam in a general sense) is an essential aspect of Orthodox Christians historical past, present identity, and future aspirations."

The lyrics of a song are a medium for expressing the thoughts and emotions of the song’s creator about social issues that occur in society, particularly those surrounding their existence. In this case, music can serve as a form of resistance expressed by the song's creator, for example, regarding the condition of women in society who are still often viewed as inferior. This study aims to show resistance to patriarchal discourse based on postmodern feminist thought through the metaphors found in the lyrics of the song "La Grenade" by Clara Luciani. The research was conducted using a qualitative method and literary study techniques. The lyrics were then analyzed using Leech's (1981) theory of componential analysing of meaning, Ullmann's (2007) theory of metaphor, and Tong's (2018) postmodern feminism thought. The types of metaphor found from the results of this research are concrete to abstract metaphor and animal metaphor. The meaning of the metaphor used serves as a form of expression of the singer's complaints about being a woman in a patriarchal society, leading her to attempt to resist it. She does this by using two opposing metaphorical words in the same sentence in order to more easily show the strengths and powers of women that have not been seen by society. It was also found that her resistance to patriarchal discourse aligns with postmodern feminism thought, in which she successfully builds a new identity for herself as a woman free from patriarchal society's definition of womanhood."

"The production of a new and attractive ‘Japan Brand’—one that resonates with the emerging global image of ‘Cool Japan’ associated with Japan's popular culture—is a national project incorporated in the Japanese Intellectual Property Strategy promoted by the state since 2002. This article critically examines the Japan Brand Strategy as a government-owned production site of Cool Japan imagery and as a cultural policy designed to promote a specific sense of cultural identity. Detailed reconstructions of the selective appropriation of cultural products in order to create a new cultural imagery for Japan, of the meanings attached to this imagery and of the tactics devised to spread it, highlight how problematical it is to appropriate market-made images of Cool Japan for national ends. Furthermore, by examining the various functions attributed to this national strategy, I show that while it is primarily promoted as a means for enhancing Japan's industrial policy and cultural diplomacy, it is also devised as a mechanism to mobilize the nation during unsettled times. Through examining the Japan Brand Strategy, this article highlights the challenges faced today by cultural policy makers, questioning the contemporary relevance of the modernistic approach to the state as a regulatory cultural planning apparatus."

This undergraduate thesis aims to analyze woman’s body issues on posts related to No Bra Day movement. Basically, this movement assembles female netizens to fight breast cancer together by taking off their bras for a day. As it started globally on October 13th, 2013, this movement attracts pro and con responses, including pros and cons. The responses are linked by the use of related hashtags. Due to its challenge to bring women’s body to the public sphere, this movement is oftentimes underestimated. On the contrary, this movement brings a new meaning on women’s body. This encoded meaning cannot be absorbed thoroughly by the female netizens because of the patriarchal construction. The achieved meaning cannot be one hundred percent as it aims to. Furthermore, the decoded meaning still shows the affirmation to patriarchal order. As a media product, reception theory by Stuart Hall and postmodern feminism by Luce Irigaray are used to examine the new meaning interpreted and reflected in the responses, which also show the affirmation or even internalization to the patriarchal order.
