"This book reflects on 'the political' in queer theory and politics by revisiting two of its key categories: hegemony and heteronormativity. It explores the specific insights offered by these categories and the ways in which they augment the analysis of power and domination from a queer perspective, whilst also examining the possibilities for political analysis and strategy-building provided by theories of hegemony and heteronormativity. Moreover, in addressing these issues the book strives to rethink the understanding of the term "queer", so as to avoid narrowing queer politics to a critique of normative heterosexuality and the rigid gender binary. By looking at the interplay between hegemony and heteronormativity, this ground-breaking volume presents new possibilities of reconceptualizing 'the political' from a queer perspective. Investigating the effects of queer politics not only on subjectivities and intimate personal relations, but also on institutions, socio-cultural processes and global politics, this book will be of interest to those working in the fields of critical theory, gender and sexuality, queer theory, postcolonial studies, and feminist political theory."

The progression of the internet into a more democratic and inclusive public space paved the way for subcultural communities to thrive. One of them includes fandom, which main practice’s is the creation of fanwork such as fanfiction or fan-created fictional works, namely a narrative that combines the creativity of the author and the original source material from the text which is utilized as the basis of its storyline. Fanfiction itself is touted as a feminist production space due to women and queer individuals dominating it’s demography—none other than the most oppressed population under the hegemony of heteronormativity. One of the most popular genres of fanfiction is Slash; a fanfiction that depicts two characters from a particular medium being in a homosexual relationship regardless of the fact whether the characters are heterosexual in source material or not. Departing from this phenomenon, the researcher finds indications of slash fiction being a medium where the resistance of the writers’ towards heteronormativity is located, especially for those who identify themselves as queer. Using the concept of Cultural Hegemony and Counter-Hegemony as an approach, the researcher found that counter- hegemony towards heteronormativity is shown in slash fiction by depicting reality as the complete opposite of that in our everyday by queer individuals, as well as as a form of escapism from it which often subordinates them. Writers form a queer community as a safe space for their queer identity as well as to explore gender and sexual identity in a popular media texts, which can be transformed into a slash fiction which is uploaded on the Archive of Our Own website as a safe channel for queer writers."

"This book promotes dialogue and debate on the understudied and under-theorized topic of queer masculinities and education, offering scholarly contributions to critical masculinity studies, to gender and sexuality studies and to the field of education. The essays adopt a range of approaches from empirical studies to reflective theorizing, and address themselves to three separate educational realms, the K-12 level, the collegiate level, and the level in popular culture, which could be called ?cultural pedagogy?.

ABSTRACT

Sexuality is an important part within the life of human. Having such importance in individual?s life, any forms of constrains towards individual?s sexuality therefore estrange individual from their own life. Heterosexism becomes one of the constraints parting individual from their sexuality, especially those bearing alternative sexuality. Through the binary framework, heterosexism constrains alternative sexuality to exist in the intelligibility sphere. Queer theory then appears as a critique towards heterosexism in order to open up the possibilities within sexuality, liberating sexuality from the binary framework and freeing alternative sexuality from the unintelligibility sphere.<.p>"

Regions in general choose to only support universality in human rights. However, ASEAN supports universality through various international instruments. At the same time, the region also supports particularity through its AHRD by considering both regional and national particularities. This research aims to see how the contestation between both principles explain this case. In doing so, this research uses qualitative and interpretative approaces to achieve deep and thorough explanations. It also uses the logics of Queer Theory in realising such goal. When AHRD is analysed using that logic, it is found, that the document offers answers to ASEAN’s social reality.

"What is CMS for and what might its future be- both inside the domain of academia and outside it? It's a question that has beguiled and frustrated academics within and outside its community. At the hear of CMS is an enduring skepticism concerning the social and ecological sustainability of prevailing ideas and forms of management and organization. Using ideas from feminist and queer theory, authors of this volume aim to generate some thinking and possibly a nascent agenda. It focuses on the future of CMS but also intertwines it with ideas as to how scholarly communities can engage in working lives differently."

""Sex work is a subject of significant contestation across academic disciplines, as well as within legal, medical, moral, feminist, political and socio-cultural discourses. A large body of research exists, but much of this focuses on the sale of sex by women to men and ignores other performances, practices, meanings and embodiments in the contemporary sex industry. A queer agenda is important in order to challenge hetero-centric gender norms and to develop new insights into how gender, sex, power, crime, work, migration, space/place, health and intimacy are understood in the context of commercial sexual encounters. Queer Sex Work explores what it might mean to 'be', 'do' and 'think' queer(ly) in the study and practice of commercial sex. It brings together a multiplicity of empirical case studies - including erotic dance venues, online sex working, pornography, grey sexual economies, and BSDM - and offers a variety of perspectives from academic scholars, policy practitioners, activists and sex workers themselves. In so doing, the book advances a queer politics of sex work that aims to disrupt heteronormative logics whilst also making space for different voices in academic and political debates about commercial sex. This unique and multidisciplinary volume will be indispensable for scholars and students of the global sex trade and of gender, sexuality, feminism and queer theory more broadly, as well as policymakers, activists and practitioners interested in the politics and practice of sex work in local, national and international contexts""

This article highlights the significance of queer and trans representation in television. The LGBTQIA+ community continues to be discriminated against today, and Generation Z is more exposed to media than
ever (Francis, 2022). However, transgender storylines have become more prevalent in today’s media landscape, raising fundamental considerations concerning the forms of trans representation available to audiences (Berberick, 2018). Using Stuart Hall’s (1997) representation theory to analyse HBO’s hit TV series, “Euphoria”, which includes a good representation of a trans-femme character (Vice, 2019), this article observes the impacts of such representation in mainstream media on its audiences. This article argues that queer representation in the media directly affects queer people in real life.

mereka sendiri.;The concept of hegemony is often used in studying international relations,
especially in terms of international system and international stability. It is a
commonly used term in news of international politics. Nevertheless, its
conception is often not fully understood by those who use the term. It seems like
there is lack of uniformity in the common understanding of hegemony. This
literature review aims to deepen the core of the concept, which is its constitution.
In order to explore its constitution, this review develops four classifications in
how hegemony is constituted, which are preconditions, characteristics, expression,
and attitude of the subordinate states. Three typologies are developed from this
process, which are Realist-Liberalist view, Structural view, and Regime view.
These typologies are then implemented in studying the development of the
concept of hegemony chronologically. Through the chronological study, the
review found that there was a change of trend in how the constitution of
hegemony is viewed, which initially tended to focus on material power which
later developed into more softer, cooperative form of hegemony. The variation in
understanding of the constitution of hegemony and also how it changed along the
time shows why the conception of hegemony is often not unitary. It also showed
why the contemporary world politics focuses more on cooperative and multilateral
behaviors between states rather than preponderance of a single state. As a result,
the review suggests that the current development of concept of hegemony could
be utilized by the developing countries to their benefits.;The concept of hegemony is often used in studying international relations,
