"The study of hydrodynamic stability is fundamental to many subjects, ranging from geophysics and meteorology through to engineering design. This treatise covers both classical and modern aspects of the subject, systematically developing it from the simplest physical problems, then progressing to the most complex, considering linear and nonlinear situations, and analyzing temporal and spatial stability. The authors examine each problem both analytically and numerically. Many relevant fluid flows are treated, including those where the fluid may be compressible, or those from geophysics, or those that require salient geometries for description. Details of initial-value problems are explored equally with those of stability. The text includes copious illustrations and an extensive bibliography, making it suitable for courses on hydrodynamic stability or as an authoritative reference for researchers. In this second edition the opportunity has been taken to update the text and, most importantly, provide solutions to the numerous extended exercises."

"Matrix functions are of growing interest due to their fascinating theory and the many applications in which they provide insight and succinct solutions. Functions of Matrices: Theory and Computation gives a thorough treatment of the theory of matrix functions and numerical methods for computing them, as well as an overview of applications."

"The sixth edition of Structural Dynamics: Theory and Computation is the complete and comprehensive text in the field. It presents modern methods of analysis and techniques adaptable to computer programming clearly and easily. The book is ideal as a text for advanced undergraduates or graduate students taking a first course in structural dynamics. It is arranged in such a way that it can be used for a one or two-semester course, or span the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, this text will serve the practicing engineer as a primary reference.
The text differs from the standard approach of other presentations in which topics are ordered by their mathematical complexity. This text is organized by the type of structural modeling. The author simplifies the subject by presenting a single degree-of-freedom system in the first chapters, then moves to systems with many degrees-of-freedom in the following chapters. Finally, the text moves to applications of the first chapters and special topics in structural dynamics.
This revised textbook intends to provide enhanced learning materials for students to learn structural dynamics, ranging from basics to advanced topics, including their application. When a line-by-line programming language is included with solved problems, students can learn course materials easily and visualize the solved problems using a program. Among several programming languages, MATLAB® has been adopted by many academic institutions across several disciplines. Many educators and students in the U.S. and many international institutions can readily access MATLAB®, which has an appropriate programming language to solve and simulate problems in the textbook. It effectively allows matrix manipulations and plotting of data. Therefore, multi-degree-of freedom problems can be solved in conjunction with the finite element method using MATLAB®.
The revised version will include:
- solved 34 examples in Chapters 1 through 22 along with MALAB codes.
- basics of earthquake design with current design codes (ASCE 7-16 and IBC 2018).
- additional figures obtained from MATLAB codes to illustrate time-variant structural behavior and dynamic characteristics (e.g., time versus displacement and spectral chart).
This text is essential for civil engineering students. Professional civil engineers will find it an ideal reference."

The smoothed particle hydrodynamic (SPH) is an alternative method to fluids simulation. SPH has advantage over finite difference method which commonly used on fluids simulation. One advantage of SPH is it use no grid in its calculations. However, in some conditions, SPH still has some instability. In this thesis, the stability analysis of SPH based on the smoothing function will be investigated as well as some simulations of two di_erent smoothing function of SPH will be shown. In this paper , the smoothing function based on Gaussian and poly6 will be used and compared."

"The objective of this monograph is to provide a concise introduction tothe dynamics of systems comprised of charged small-scale particles. Flowing, small-scale, particles ("particulates'') are ubiquitous in industrial processes and in the natural sciences. Applications include electrostatic copiers, inkjet printers, powder coating machines, etc., and a variety of manufacturing processes. Due to their small-scale size, external electromagnetic fields can be utilized to manipulate and control charged particulates in industrial processes in order to achieve results that are not possible by purely mechanical means alone. A unique feature of small-scale particulate flows is that they exhibit a strong sensitivity to interparticle near-field forces, leading to nonstandard particulate dynamics, agglomeration and cluster formation, which can strongly affect manufactured product quality. This monograph also provides an introduction to the mathematically-related topic of the dynamics of swarms of interacting objects, which has gained the attention of a number of scientific communities. In summary, the following topics are discussed in detai l: (1) Dynamics of an individual charged particle, (2) Dynamics of rigid clusters of charged particles, (3) Dynamics of flowing charged particles, (4) Dynamics of charged particle impact with electrified surfaces and (5) An introduction to the mechanistic modeling of swarms.
