A lot of studies on the use of story media in FMCG marketing have been done quite a lot previously. However, a study that discusses the use of short brand stories in FMCG packaging has not been widely carried out and is not even available yet in Indonesia. Therefore, this study was conducted to see the effect of short brand stories on purchase intentions with the perceived brand quality acts as a mediator. Short brand stories are differentiated into self-transcendence and self-enhancement. This study was conducted online and attended by 432 participants who are at least 18 years old minimum of age. Purchase intention is measured using measurement scale adapted from Schiffman and Wisenblit (2015) and perceived brand quality is measured using measurement scare adapted from Boulding and Kirmani (1993). Process analysis from Hayes found that SBS positively influenced perceived brand quality, and at the same time, perceived brand quality positively influenced purchase intention. Therefore, the mediation effect is presented in this study. In addition, the statistics measurement also found that the self-transcendence type short brand story has a higher perceived brand quality and purchase intention than the self-enhancement type. The results of this study provide input to fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) producers in presenting the latest innovations related to product marketing."

The rise of collaboration between companies and charitable organizations has become a global trend where the term Cause-Related Marketing (CRM) is used to explain this phenomenon. As this strategy becomes a worldwide trend, the marketers need to understand whether the role of culture (e.g. self-construal) on their buying behavior and perspectives of CRM activities will differ across markets. To answer the problem, the current study investigates the effect of self-construals on their intention to purchase CRM products and brand attitudes towards CRM by operationalizing the self-construals using cross-country data. Besides, the role of emotion (e.g. empathy) was taken into account in mediating these relationships. By conducting surveys with Indonesian (interdependent) and the Netherlands (independent) participants, the present study reveals support from previous literature that the interdependent self-construals have higher intention to purchase CRM products than the independent self-construals and the relationship is exerted through the mediating role of empathy. Although self-construals do not differ significantly on their attitudes towards brand practicing CRM, empathy was found to be the factor mediating the interdependent self-construals to have more favorable attitudes towards brand practicing CRM than the independent self-construals. Practically, marketers are recommended to focus on implementing the CRM strategy in a country where the CRM strategy is viewed as more favorable and profitable."

This study wants to examine the effect of emojis on customer service toward purchase intentions mediated by positive affect. This research is using the Experimental Vignette Methodology Within-Subject Design with two conditions (emojis and without emojis) in an online chat between sellers and consumers. Target participants, in the age range of 18-35 years, domiciled in Indonesia, have used e-commerce and online chat. Participants are described by screenshots of online conversations between sellers and consumers. Furthermore, participants were asked to provide an assessment for positive affect variable with the PANAS (Watson & Clark, 1988) and purchase intention variable with the Intention to Buy Measure (Schiffman & Wisenblit, 2015) after every stimulus/condition displayed. Total of 300 participants was successfully collected in this study. The result showed that there is a significant difference between emojis conditions and without emojis, t(300) = 10,242, p<.001, d= 0.591 with emojis conditions that produce higher buying intention. Positive affect also proved to mediate the influence of emojis on purchase intention with a constant value of 0.327, t(297) = 4,831, p<.001. This result indicates that sellers can use emojis when serving consumers through online conversations to improve consumer buying decisions."
