"ABSTRACTThe political commitment of the highest political leader in a country is the key to the success and failure of an anti-corruption institution body. In the first era of President Joko Widodo's leadership, the KPK faced a roller coaster of the agenda of eradication corruption. Various threats that present uncertainty about the future of the KPK has been carried out by external and internal forces of the KPK. This had a significant impact on the effectiveness of the KPK anti-corruption engine. This article tries to explain and evaluate the quality of President Joko Widodo's first-period government support (2014-2019) to the KPK and how it impacts on the continuation of the anti-corruption agenda in Indonesia. This article concludes that economic development targets that require socio-political stability make anti-corruption work is less adequately addressed. As a result, the Corruption Eradication Commission was hit by a counterattack from various political-business interest groups. Responding to the situation, President Joko Widodo chose to play it safe and did not show a precise alignment on the KPK. In this period also, there was no visible cooperation that took root and made the eradication and prevention of corruption as the main agenda that was systematic and sustainable."

"Tesis ini mendeskripsikan dan menganalisa mengenai seorang tokoh pengusaha Aburizal Bakrie dan politik. Dalam penjabarannya penyusun memfokuskan pada permasalahan bagaimana gambaran aktivitas politik tokoh pengusaha dan bagaimana juga ia dapat berhasil tampil dalam gelanggang politik. Kasus yang dijadikan studi pada penelitian ini adalah aktivitas politik Aburizal Bakrie pada rangkaian Pemilihan Presiden-Wakil Presiden 2004.Metodologi yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskripsi-analisis. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam (indepth interview) dan studi pustaka (library research). Adapun teknik analisis data dilakukan secara iteratif (berkeianlutan) dan dikembangkan sepanjang program penelitian, mulai dari penetapan masalah, pengumpulan data dan setelah data terkumpulkan.Sedangkan kerangka teori yang digunakan adalah kekuasaan dan sumber politik dari Charles F. Andrain. Secara umum teori ini menandaskan bahwa kekayaan politik itu terkait dengan tiga hal, yakni pertama, seberapa besar sumber daya politik yang dimiliki dan didayagunakan. Sumber politik itu meliputi: sumber fisik, sumber ekonomi (kekayaan), sumber personal, sumber normatif, dan sumber keahlian. Makin besar kepemilikan atas sumber-sumber politik semakin besar pula kesempatan seseorang untuk dapat tampil dalarn gelanggang politik. Kedua, sarana yang didayagunakan, seperti organisasi dan jaringan personal. Dan ketiga, faktor pendorong yakni motivasi. Di sini dijelaskan bahwa makin kuat motivasi untuk memperoleh kekuaaan maka makin kuat juga dorongan untuk mendayagunakan sumber-sumber politiknya.Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah berhasilnya Aburizal Bakrie tampil dalam gelanggang politik pada Pilpres-Wapres 2004 tidaklah didorong oleh faktor tunggal, namun difasilitasi oleh multi faktor, yakni, sumber kekayaan, jaringan personal, dan motivasi.

This thesis to describe and analyze about entrepreneur figure of Aburizal Bakrie and politic. In the explanation, writer will be focus on problem about how the picture of political entrepreneur activity and how he have success to act in political arena. The case will be studied on this research is AburizaI Bakrie's political activity in election of president and vice president 2004.

The methodology has used qualitative approach with kinds of description-analyze. Technical data accumulation is applied by in-depth interview and library research. Technical data analyze is applied by iterative and development while doing research program, namely deciding problem, accumulating data, and collecting data.

While, the frame of theory in this thesis are power and political resources from Charles F. Andrain. Generally, that theories explain that power of politic are related with three kinds, namely: Firstly, how much resources politic will he get and will be used. The resources of politic are included physic resources, economy resources (property), potential resources, normative resources, and skill resources. "More increasing someone have property of politic resources, easier he gets opportunity to act at political arena". Secondly, the usage of infrastructure of politic, as a organization and personal networking. Dan third, supporting factor, namely motivation. In here is explained that strong motivation to get power so that strong supporting to use politic resources.

The finding of this thesis is that the success of Aburizal Bakrie in political arena in president and vice president election 2004 is not supported by single factor, but it is facilitated by multi factor, namely, property resource, personal networking, and motivation."

"Tesis ini membahas komunikasi politik memanfaatkan Facebook yang dilakukan calon presiden muda melalui konvensi nasional Dewan Integritas Bangsa, Yuddy Chrisnandi, dengan melihat strategi komunikasi politik Yuddy dalam Facebook dan optimalisasi Facebook sebagai medium kampanye politik. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan strategi komunikasi politik dalam Facebook lebih banyak berkaitan dengan metode penyusunan dan penyampaian pesan. Sedangkan fitur-fitur dalam Facebook belum sepenuhnya dioptimalkan oleh Yuddy sebagai medium kampanye politik.

The focus of this study is political communication using Facebook which is utilized by Yuddy Chrisnandi as a young president candidate from National Convention of “Dewan Integritas Bangsa”. The purpose of this study is to understand how Yuddy Chrisnandi uses Facebook as medium for political campaign. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data were collected by means of deep interview with Yuddy Chrisnandi and observation to the substance of his Facebook. The researcher suggests that Yuddy Chrisnandi should improve his political communication strategy when communicate to the audiences through Facebook."

This thesis analyzes the development of the American warfare business, focusing on the case study of the utilization of the Blackwater private military corporation. This analysis is conducted through the description of the warfare business. The ideology that establishes the background of the utilization of the private military corporation is the main focus of this which is analyzed by using the Neo-liberalism theory. The writer uses data from books, journals, and other supporting source materials of relevant context. This research illustrates that the utilization of the private military corporation, in this case Blackwater, is a part of the market which is a product of the neoliberal ideology. Therefore, there is a connection between ideology, market, and private military corporations."

"ABSTRAKPeredaan ketegangan antara Amerika Serikat dan Iran mencerminkan pergeseran perilaku eksternal Amerika Serikat yang mengedepankan politik domestik (ideologi dan moralitas) kepada perilaku eksternal yang lebih ?normal? dan perhitungan strategis global. Peredaan tercapai setelah Amerika Serikat bersedia mengambil peran aktif dalam perundingan P5+1. Disisi lain, Iran kembali menyatakan kesiapan untuk berdiskusi dengan Amerika Serikat. Peredaan ini merupakan indikasi keberhasilan kompromi yang dicapai kedua negara terutama dalam permasalahan nuklir serta isu strategis di kawasan. Penelitian ini melihat bahwa Amerika Serikat meredakan ketegangan karena kemunculan Iran sebagai kekuatan regional merupakan pertimbangan penting bagi Amerika Serikat dalam persaingan strategis terhadap China dan Rusia. Amerika Serikat terlihat kembali menjadi offshore balancer untuk mencapai biaya rendah dalam hubungannya dengan Iran, maupun negara di kawasan Timur Tengah dan global.

ABSTRACTThe U.S.-Iran lowering tension reflect a shift of U.S.? external behavior from domestic politic (ideology and morality) oriented toward more ?normal? and global strategic calculation. Thanks to U.S.? active role in P5+1 and its counterpart ?Iran- readiness to discuss, so these lowering tension happened. The lowering tension indicate the success of compromised between both countries particularly to nuclear issue and other regional strategic issues. This reseach discern that U.S. lowering the tension in a way because the emerging Iran as regional power is key consideration for US? strategic competition against China and Russia. U.S obviously back to its role as offshore balancer to gain a low cost for its relations toward Iran, regional middle east countries and global."
