"This book is a legal and political intervention into a contemporary debate concerning the appropriateness of sexual offence prosecutions brought against young gender non-conforming people for so-called 'gender identity fraud'. It comes down squarely against prosecution. To that end, it offers a series of principled objections based both on liberal principles, and arguments derived from queer and feminist theories. Thus prosecution will be challenged as criminal law overreach and as a spectacular example of legal inconsistency, but also as indicative of a failure to grasp the complexity of sexual desire and its disavowal. In particular, the book will think through the concepts of consent, harm and deception and their legal application to these specific forms of intimacy. In doing so, it will reveal how cisnormativity frames the legal interpretation of each and how this serves to preclude more marginal perspectives. Beyond law, the book takes up the ethical challenge of the non-disclosure of gender history. Rather than dwelling on this omission, it argues that we ought to focus on a cisgender demand to know as the proper object of ethical inquiry. Finally, and as an act of legal and ethical re-imagination, the book offers a queer counter-judgment to R v McNally, the only case involving a gender non-conforming defendant, so far, to have come before the Court of Appeal"

"How should we understand transgenderism, especially as it affects children and adolescents? Psychiatric manuals include transgenderism among mental illnesses (Gender Identity Disorder). Such inclusion is relatively recent, and even the words transsexual and transgender were coined only a few decades ago. Yet stories of children with an in-between gender have always been, albeit symbolically, a part of popular culture. Drawing on fairy tales, as well as from personal narratives and clinical studies, this book explains how "Gender Identity Disorder" manifests in children, critically evaluating various clinical approaches and examining the ethical and legal issues surrounding the care and treatment of these youths. The book argues that Gender Identity Disorder is not pathology, and that medicine and society should assist children in expressing themselves, without attempting to force them to adapt to a gender that does not match with their perceived identity."--publisher website."

Perdebatan ini berfokus pada topik people with the capacity for pregnancy yang berujung pada pandangan tentang identitas gender.

Based on Halliday’s transitivity concept, this paper aims to analyze the debate between Senator Hawley and Professor Bridges conducted on July 12, 2022. The debate focuses on the topic of people with a capacity for pregnancy which led to views of gender identity. A combination of quantitative and qualitative method is used to explore the distribution of the six processes within the transitivity concept and its relation to the clause chosen to showcase each of the participants’ ideologies. The analysis has found that Senator Hawley dominantly uses the mental process within his clauses consisting of the desideration process, cognition process, and emotion process. In comparison, Professor Bridges shows high use of relational process within her clauses consisting of the attribution process and identification process. The analysis shows that the used processes in the clause do hold function to put forward the different ideologies on gender between Senator Hawley and Professor Bridges. The relational processes used by Professor Bridges points out Senator Hawley's rigid identification of gender by identifying and valuing the variety of genders. Senator Hawley counters Professor Bridges' allegations using mental processes by asking clarification to align their awareness on gender, which also displays his gender polarization, leading to transphobia."
