Speser, Phyllis L.
""Phyl Speser's personality comes across in the text-complicated, intrigued, highly rational, insightful, rich in context, and fun. She had me smiling throughout. This work represents the next chapter of the technology transfer profession's development, where it will be all about getting to market with a studied awareness of value. Phyl gives us the tools to get there with a great read, just the focus we are needing in the profession.""

"ABSTRAK
The fractionation of five heavy metals in a washing aggregate sludge, a sewage sludge, a clay-rich sediment, the mixtures of these materials and the lightweight aggregates manufactured with them has been determined by applying the optimezed European Community Bureau of Reference sequential extraction procedure in order to evaluate the effects of the heating process on the extraction of these elements. Additionally, preparation of efaluates by aggregate leaching has been performed in accordance with the UNE-EN-1744-3 standard. The availability of all the studied heavy metals has been reduced by the thermal treatment, since most of the heavy metals have become part of the undigested material in the lightweight aggregates. Nickel has been the heavy metal that has presented the highest concentration in the eluates obtained after completion of the single extraction procedure in the lightweight aggregates. The studied lightweight aggregates may be used in lightweight concerte manufacturing from the standpoint of heavy metal leaching. "

"ABSTRAK
Genome Sequence Analysis for genetic datasets by using ORF (Open Reading Frames) techniques is an interesting area of research for bioinformatics researchers nowadays. There is a strong research focus on comparative analysis between genetic behaviors and diversity of different species. Contrary to whole genome sequence analysis, scientists are now trying to concentrate specifically on layered analysis to get a better insight of relevancy among genetic datasets. This phenomenon will help to better understand species. An ORF statistical analysis for genetic data-sets of species Chimera Monstrosa and Poly Odontidae is presented. For completion of this analysis, we use a hybrid approach that combines a generic mechanism for statistical analysis with specific approach designed for out performance. At first instance, genetic datasets are refined for better usage at next level. These sets are then passed through layers of filters that perform DNA to Protein translation. Statistical comparison is performed during this translation. This layered architecture helps in better understanding of the degree of similarity and differences in genomic sequences. "

"In the United States, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) of 1988 describes requirements and guidelines for implementing a quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA) program for moderate and high complexity laboratories. These requirements and guidelines apply to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) laboratories as well. The general topic of QC and QA as it pertains to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer (ET) is extensively reviewed. This review summarizes many of the QC and QA events that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this biotechnological field. These events include control of the culture environment inside and outside of the incubator, as well as factors that affect culture media. This review also discusses, in considerable detail, the QC and the QA that pertain to equipment used within the laboratory and how to control for potential contaminants, which reside within the laboratory. This review provides evidence to indicate the need for laboratory personnel to monitor quality improvement issues on a continuous basis. Personnel must be willing to change as improvements in technology occur in order to meet the ever-evolving demands of a more difficult patient population. Suggestions for meeting these demands are offered."
