"Berdasarkan data tahun 2018, 1.7% daerah di Indonesia belum terelektrifikasi dengan baik, dimana persentase sebesar 38.1% berasal dari daerah terpencil di NTT. Daerah terpencil merupakan daerah yang memiliki rasio elektrifikasi rendah. Daerah terpencil merupakan daerah dengan penduduk sedikit, memiliki ekonomi yang relatif rendah, akses ke daerah yang sulit, serta mata pencaharian utama sebagai petani atau nelayan. Pembangkit listrik tenaga air skala piko hidro merupakan salah satu solusi yang memungkinkan untuk daerah terpencil karena biaya pembuatan yang relatif murah, perawatan sederhana, dan juga konsumsi listrik pada daerah pedesaan yang tidak begitu besar. Turbin vortex merupakan salah satu jenis turbin skala piko hidro yang dapat dimanfaatkan dikarenakan banyaknya aliran sungai di Indonesia yang memiliki kondisi tinggi jatuh yang rendah. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengamati kinerja hidrolik dari sudu straight dan curved secara analitik serta numerik dengan menggunakan computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Dua buah metode dilakukan dalam studi ini, analitik dan numerik. Metode analitik digunakan untuk menghitung geometri dari saluran serta sudu, dan juga kinerja hidrolik sudu. Metode numerik digunakan juga untuk mengamati kinerja sudu. Dengan menggunakan fitur moving mesh, daya sudu dapat diamati dalam kondisi putaran yang berbeda. Putaran sudu yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah 150, 200, 250, 300, dan 350 Rpm. Studi ini menunjukan bahwa pada kondisi 250 rpm, kedua sudu dapat mencapai kinerja hidrolik optimalnya dengan nilai sebesar 0.63%. Dari hasil numerik, dapat dikatakan bentuk sudu seperti ini tidak menyerap energi kinetik dengna baik.

Based on 2018 data, 1.7% of regions in Indonesia do not yet have good electricity, with a percentage of 38.1% obtained from regions available in NTT. Remote areas are the areas that have a low electrification ratio. Remote areas have a relatively low population and economy, difficult access, and livelihoods as farmers or fishermen. Pico-hydro scale hydroelectric power plants are one of the possible solutions to create a relatively cheap budget, simple maintenance, and also electricity consumption in areas that are not so large. Vortex turbine is one type of pico hydro turbine that can be utilized because of the many rivers flows in Indonesia that has high excess. Analytic and numerical straight and curved angles use the fluid competency dynamics CFD. Two methods are carried out in this studio, analytic and numerical. Analytical methods are used to calculate channel geometry which will then discuss flow with numerical methods. Analytical methods are also used to determine the hydraulic efficiency of the blades used. Hydraulic performance is the transition between the power generated by the turbine and the fluid power used to drive the turbine. Numerical methods are also used for blades. By using the movable mesh feature, the blade can be seen in various rotational conditions. Details of the slats used in this studio are 150, 200, 250, 300, and 350 Rpm. This study produces 250 rpm, both blades can achieve optimal hydraulic performance with a value of 0.63%. From the numerical results, both of the blade shapes dont absorb kinetic energy properly.
