"This book introduces readers to the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for solving transport phenomena-flow, heat and mass transfer-in a systematic way. Providing explanatory computer codes throughout the book, the author guides readers through many practical examples, such as:
- flow in isothermal and non-isothermal lid-driven cavities;
- flow over obstacles;
- forced flow through a heated channel;
- conjugate forced convection; and
- natural convection.
Diffusion and advection-diffusion equations are discussed, together with applications and examples, and complete computer codes accompany the sections on single and multi-relaxation-time methods. The codes are written in MatLab. However, the codes are written in a way that can be easily converted to other languages, such as FORTRANm Python, Julia, etc. The codes can also be extended with little effort to multi-phase and multi-physics, provided the physics of the respective problem are known."

"Kebutuhan udara bersih menjadi keharusan di ruang kelas terlebih di era pandemi kemarin. Oleh karena itu dilakukan simulasikan laju aliran di kelas dengan menggunakan air purifier dengan tujuan untuk melihat persebaran dan distribusi dari Age of Air di ruang kelas tersebut. Metode dilakukan dengan pengukuran geometri langsung yang selanjutnya dibuat 3D Model, lalu disimulasikan di ANSYS CFX 2019. Simulasi Computational Fluid Dynamics divariasikan mulai dari ruang kelas tanpa air purifier, 2-unit air purifier dengan perbedaan penempatan dengan laju aliran pada kondisi sebenarnya dan 2 purifier dengan aliran menggunakan perhitungan dari 5 Air Change per Hour. Hasil yang diukur berupa grafik yang didapatkan dari titik koordinat yang tersebar di kelas dan visual dari kontur Age of Air dari bidang area global. Grafik menunjukan bahwa nilai Age of Air paling kecil berada di variasi 2 purifier kondisi sebenarnya dengan geometri B. Sementara nilai Age of Air terbesar dipegang oleh variasi nol purifier dan 2 purifier dengan besar aliran dari perhitungan 5 Air Change per Hour. Kecepatan tertinggi dipegang oleh kedua tipe 2 purifier kondisi sebenarnya pada geometri A dan B, dengan pada geometri A memiliki nilai terbesar pada titik 2, dan geometri B pada titik 5. Kecepatan terendah pada titik 1,3,5 dipegang oleh 2 purifier 5 Air Change per Hour dan pada titik 2,4 dipegang oleh variasi nol purifier Hal ini membuktikan terjadinya sirkulasi dengan disuplainya udara segar ke ruangan dengan visual yang ditunjukan di pintu depan dimana terdapat dua aliran yang memasuki dan keluar ruangan.

The need for clean air is a must in the classroom, especially in the era of the pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate the flow rate in the classroom using an air purifier to see the distribution and distribution of Age of Air in the classroom. The method is carried out by building a 3D model, then simulated in ANSYS CFX 2019. The Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations are varied starting from a classroom without an air purifier, 2-unit air purifier with different placements with the flow rate in actual conditions, and 2 purifiers with flow using a calculation of 5 Air Changes per Hour. The measured results are in the form of graphs obtained from coordinate points spread over the class and visuals of Age of Air contours from the global area. The graph shows that the smallest Age of Air value is in the variation of 2 purifiers in actual conditions with geometry B. Meanwhile, the largest Age of Air values ​​are held by variations of zero purifiers and 2 purifiers with a large flow from the calculation of 5 Air Changes per Hour. The highest speed is held by both type 2 purifiers in real conditions at geometry A and B, with geometry A having the largest value at point 2, and geometry B at point 5. The lowest speed at point 1,3,5 is held by 2 purifiers 5 Air Change per hour and at point 2.4 it is held by zero variation of purifier. This proves that circulation occurs by supplying fresh air to the room visually shown at the front door where there are two streams entering and leaving the room.

"This thesis presents an accurate and advanced numerical methodology to remedy difficulties such as direct numerical simulation of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), grid generation processes in tokamak fusion facilities, and the coupling between the surface tension force and Lorentz force in the metallurgical industry. In addition, on the basis of the numerical platform it establishes, it also investigates selected interesting topics, e.g. single bubble motion under the influence of either vertical or horizontal magnetic fields. Furthermore, it confirms the relation between the bubble’s path instability and wake instability, and observes the anisotropic (isotropic) effect of the vertical (horizontal) magnetic field on the vortex structures, which determines the dynamic behavior of the rising bubble.
The direct numerical simulation of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows has proven difficult in the field of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) research, because it not only concerns the coupling of the equations governing the electromagnetic field and the fluid motion, but also calls for suitable numerical methods for computing the electromagnetic field. In tokamak fusion facilities, where the MHD effect is significant and the flow domain is complex, the process of grid generation requires considerable time and effort. Moreover, in the metallurgical industry, where multiphase MHD flows are usually encountered, the coupling between the surface tension force and Lorentz force adds to the difficulty of deriving direct numerical simulations."

"Manufaktur aditif, melalui perkembangan dan penyebarannya, telah memungkinkan kebebasan yang lebih besar dalam hal desain komponen dan kemudahan untuk menguji desain tersebut. Elemen umum yang digunakan dalam desain untuk manufaktur aditif adalah mengubah geometri padat menjadi bentuk berongga dengan struktur lattice internal untuk mempertahankan kekakuan dan kekuatan bentuk awal. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah metode optimalisasi struktur lattice pada komponen yang dikenai beban, dengan tujuan meminimalisasi volume material yang digunakan serta stres yang dialami oleh komponen tersebut. FEA digunakan untuk menentukan kepadatan dari lattice pada area tertentu, menambahkan material ke area yang mengalami stres tinggi dan menguranginya pada area yang mengalami stres rendah. Kerangka ini diuji pada batang yang mengalami beban lentur. Perbandingan kemudian dilakukan dengan struktur lattice berbentuk seragam.

Additive manufacturing has, through its development and proliferation, allowed for greater degrees of freedom when it comes to the design of components and ease at which to test said designs. A common element used in designing for additive manufacturing is turning a solid geometry into one that is hollow with an internal lattice structure to maintain stiffness and strength. This study aims to develop a method of optimizing the lattice structure of a component under load, aiming to minimize both volume of material used as well as stress experienced by the component. FEA is used to determine the relative density of the lattice at a given area, adding material to areas of high stress and removing it in areas of low stress. This framework is tested on a beam that is experiencing a bending load. A comparison is then made to a lattice structure of uniform shape."
