"This book examines construction safety from the perspective of informatics and econometrics. It demonstrates the potential of employing various information technology approaches to share construction safety knowledge. In addition, it presents the application of econometrics in construction safety studies, such as an analytic hierarchy process used to create a construction safety index. It also discusses structure equation and dynamic panel models for the analysis of construction safety claims. Lastly, it describes the use of mathematical and econometric models to investigate construction practitioners safety."

"Here we use the term "field" to refer to a sphere of practical operation, and correspondingly the term "field informatics" describes informatics tools and methodologies that arise in the field. The components of field informatics are description, prediction, design and transfer, and the methods for those components vary widely. For example, we consider the social goal of revitalizing a mountainous area experiencing depopulation and we show how the tools and methodologies of field informatics may be used to describe such situations using remote sensing, biologging, human sensing and ethnography, the effects of various solutions can be predicted using system dynamics and multiagent simulations, the solutions can be designed using inclusive design or participatory design methods; and finally the experience gained can be transferred using case writing and outreach communication."

"Proactive accident prevention can only be efficiently and effectively implemented if hazardous conditions which may be occurred during the construction of high rise building have been clearly identified prior to construction. Safety risk assessment is an important step to quantify the risk level of hazardous conditions. The degree of control measures which will be applied, will have the same amount of the risk level of each hazards.
Statistic and probabilistic analysis are performed by computer program Crystal BaH® 2000 to decide the amount of risk each hazard has. Monte Carlo simulation is used to simulate nslt model of the data taken from 20 respondent by applying semi quantitative assessment. Data was collected from main contractors who have Significant experiences in high rise building construction.
In general, hazards which might happen during the construction of high rise building can be grouped into 3 energy sources, such as gravity, mechanic and kinetic and also electric. Gravity energy is the most dominant energy influencing, unless serious attention is given by the contractors it can bring many catastrophe. Analysis of construction fatalities from OSHA (1985-l989) and HSE (1981-1985) also show that gravity energy brings the highest contribution from all the construction fatalities.

"This proceedings volume chronicles the papers presented at the 35th CIB W78 2018 Conference: IT in Design, Construction, and Management, held in Chicago, IL, USA, in October 2018. The theme of the conference focused on fostering, encouraging, and promoting research and development in the application of integrated information technology (IT) throughout the life-cycle of the design, construction, and occupancy of buildings and related facilities. The CIB – International Council for Research and Innovation in Building Construction – was established in 1953 as an association whose objectives were to stimulate and facilitate international cooperation and information exchange between governmental research institutes in the building and construction sector, with an emphasis on those institutes engaged in technical fields of research. The conference brought together more than 200 scholars from 40 countries, who presented the innovative concepts and methods featured in this collection of papers."

"Statistics suggest that in the majority of major accidents across a range of industries, the root causes can be traced back before anybody actually started work. These include effective research, development, specification and planning."

This study discusses the management of occupational health and safety risks in the erection activities of the elevated toll road girder conducted by PT X (in one area of Jakarta in 2019). In this study, hazards were identified using Occupational Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk analysis was carried out using a semi-quantitative WT measure. Good (1971). Data were collected from direct observation and interview approaches to workers involved in girth erection activities. There are 61 work tasks performed in activities and 6 types of biological, chemical, ergonomic, physical, safety, and psychosocial hazards, with 1 biological hazard, 8 chemical hazard, 8 ergonomic hazard, 3 physical hazard, 40 safety, and 2 psychosocial hazards found in this research. Risk analysis is calculated from the value of existing risks and predictive risks, so that the level of risk in each assessment is known by considering the hazard controls that have been applied and recommendations for the controls given."

The construction of high-rise buildings, particularly in major cities in Indonesia, is one of the alternative development approaches undertaken to address land limitations. The construction of high-rise buildings involves hazardous work due to the unique characteristics and complexities of the work environment, which can potentially lead to construction accidents. The high incidence of construction accidents is closely related to the parties directly involved in construction projects, commonly referred to as stakeholders. In Indonesia, construction stakeholders include contractors, subcontractors, structural consultants, architectural consultants, owners, and supervising consultants. This study aims to analyze the stakeholders' perceptions or understanding of construction safety risks in high-rise buildings using the photographic Q-methodology. Additionally, Kendall's W coefficient, Friedman's χ2, and Kruskal-Wallis analyses are used to measure stakeholders' understanding. Overall, contractors, subcontractors, structural consultants, owners, and supervising consultants have a moderate level of understanding, while architectural consultants have a low level of understanding. Based on these findings, the author formulates recommendations to enhance the understanding of all stakeholders regarding construction safety risks in Indonesia."
