Thiel, Peter A.
"Peter Thiel is the co-founder of PayPal and the first outside investor in Facebook. In the Spring of 2012, he gave a lecture course at Stanford for software engineers, calling on them to think boldly and broadly about how they might use their skills to shape the future, and imparting the lessons he has gleaned from his own experience. One of the students in that class Blake Masters took notes and posted them online. The blog posts became a huge success, with hundreds of thousands of hits, and became the basis for Zero to One. We live in an age of technological stagnation, even if we're too distracted by our new mobile devices to notice. Progress has stalled in every industry except computers, and globalization is hardly the revolution people think it is. It's true that the world can get marginally richer by building new copies of old inventions, making horizontal progress from '1 to n'. But true innovators have nothing to copy. The most valuable companies of the future will make vertical progress from '0 to 1', creating entirely new industries and products that have never existed before. Zero to One is about how to build these companies. A business book that also provides insight into the world of start-ups from a Silicon Valley icon, Thiel shows how to pursue your goals using the most important, most difficult, and most underrated skill in every job or industry: thinking for yourself"

Bradberry, John, 1961-
"Over six million Americans start businesses every year. That's 11 startups a minute launched by passionate dreamers hop ing to transform their lives for the better. But a huge gap exists between the skyrocketing levels of desire and what entrepreneurs actually achieve. The harsh reality is that most new businesses fail within a few years of launch. Why do so few startups make it? And what distinguishes those that do succeed? Entrepreneur, consultant, and investor John Bradberry set out to discover the answer and came to a surprising conclusion that the passion that drives and energizes so many founders is also the very thing that leads many of them astray. Filled with compelling real-life stories of both success and failure, this groundbreaking book reveals the key principles entrepreneurs must follow to ensure their big idea is on the right track. In "6 Secrets to Startup Success", readers will learn how to: convert their passion into economic value with a moneymaking business model; improve their readiness to launch and lead a new venture; manage funding and cash flows; chart a path to breakeven and beyond; avoid the pitfalls that often accompany unfettered passion; and, build the stamina needed to persevere over time. Complete with indispensable tools including an assessment to gauge a venture's strengths and weaknesses, "6 Secrets to Startup Success" will help entrepreneurs everywhere turn their dreams into reality."

"Volume 18 will focus on approaches to thinking about and creating the start-up. Both theoretical and empirical manuscripts that consider all aspects of start-up planning, thinking and action will be considered. We also encourage practice-based research and manuscripts that explore cutting-edge pedagogical approaches. The papers in Advances reflect many state-of-the-art topics and approaches, and are written by leading researches in the field, making each volume an important source of information for virtually all entrepreneurship researchers. One of the distinctive competences of research volumes such as Advances is that the chapters can be published without page restrictions allowing for greater detail in the background, development, and implementation of ideas than is possible in journal articles. This provides authors with the opportunity to fully express their key ideas, provide much more complete support, and include relevant multi-page appendices. In effect, the Advances series provides authors the opportunity to publish an "article of record" of their major theoretical or empirical ideas, and see it disseminated to a wide audience. "

The agricultural sector holds significant potential in Indonesia, yet it still faces challenges such as limited access to technology, markets, and financing as well as the phenomenon of climate change. Agricultural start-ups are starting to emerge by developing innovations to answer these challenges within the sector. This idea has been accepted by both the Indonesian public and government as a solution for the agricultural sector. However, agricultural start-ups encounter problems in developing and sustaining their businesses. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the critical success factors of agricultural start-ups in Indonesia. The research began by identifying factors that influence the success of agricultural start-ups, then validated using the Content Validity Index (CVI) and Modified Kappa methods. This study employs the DEMATEL-ANP method to analyze relationships and determine the priority of critical success factors. The total number of factors identified in this research is 37, across 7 dimensions, with the dimension having the highest priority being the process dimension, and the factor with the highest priority being digital data analytics. The results of this study can be used to provide recommendations to business owners and stakeholders in formulating policies related to factors that should be considered to support the success of agricultural start-ups in Indonesia."
