"ABSTRACT
The television serial Siung Macan Kombang (The Panthers Fang), produced and broadcast by TVRI Stasiun Yogyakarta in 1992, has lived on in the collective memory of Javanese television audiences. Likewise, Indosiars Javanese drama programmes, broadcast in the mid 1990s, retrieve reminiscences of past times, when private broadcasters served specific ethnic and linguistic audiences with local entertainment linked to tradition. However, since most Indonesian television stations have not archived their audiovisual collections, the public no longer has access to audiovisual content from a deeper past. Hence these cultural resources have become intangible heritage; when the programmes cease to be recollected in tales and blogs, they vanish from Indonesian media history and fall into oblivion. This lack of archives affects historical research significantly. As I demonstrate in the main part of this article, resources like scripts and the print press could assist television scholars to approximate historical broadcasts and broadcasting history as closely as possible. Nevertheless, however useful they are, they do not disclose the performative and televisual aspects of the programmes. To demonstrate the value and riches of audiovisual archives, in the final part I show how a small collection of Javanese language television programmes in a Dutch university library could reveal a wealth of information concerning performance on Indonesian television and about television itself."

"One of the factors that affect Indonesia?s economic growth is the existence of business firms. Most business firms in Indonesia are in the form of family-owned firm, and they are considered to constitute the backbone of the economic development. Family firms represent the most enduring business model in the world. The continuing success of family firms through the generations relies on ensuring the next generation. However, the issue of family firms is rarely discussed in particular from the perspective of corporate law. In fact, from legal perspectives, there are some issues dealing with this type of firm, among other, the lack of an overall definition of the term ?family business?. It is because family businesses and small medium enterprises (SMEs) are widely understood synonymously in spite of the fact that they exist in every size class. Other issue is the question of its legal basis or legal framework in terms of its corporate governance. Many Indonesian business players lack the basic understanding of corporate law. It is partly because obligations set out in the corporate law are incompatible with the values and cultures in Indonesia where ?kinship principle? is deeply rooted. This article aims to describe the characteristics and the legal frameworks for family firms in Indonesia. It also recommends the government to take progressive measures by providing clear regulations on family firms in Indonesia. This will reinforce family firms? contribution to economic development of Indonesia in the future.

The roles, approaches and methods of archiving in both places are different as I elaborate in this essay. However, one fundamental cause is the same, that is the shared belief that is the importance of art archiving and how it is needed in showing the relations between art practice and the challenges of society in this region. My work straddles between two modes of approach and my belief is that both can go together and complement each other, to find the place for the art archives and provideresources for spaces of debates in building art history and its relevance in the development of contemporary society, Southeast Asia and the world."

"Discussions on post-coloniality are often situated either in the centre of the colonizer or colonial metropole or the centre of the former colonized. The local perspective, especially in Indonesia, seems overlooked in existing literature, whereas it could be regarded as the cultural archive of the colonial era to post-independence Indonesia. Edward Said (1994) has said that cultural archives are a storehouse of a particular knowledge and structures of attitude and a reference to and structure of feelings. Gloria Wekker (2016) elaborates on the cultural archive; it has influenced historical cultural configurations as well as current dominant, cherished self-representations and culture. This paper examines the role of two provincial museums in Indonesia: Mpu Tantular Museum Surabaya and the Sonobudoyo Museum Yogyakarta, as cultural archives for each region. Since their foundation in the colonial era by the Europeans and local elite figures, these museums have seen many political changes. This paper delves into the archives and exhibitions of the museums to assess how they deal with their exhibition narratives as a colonial legacy, and to what extent these provincial museums have been involved in decolonization discourse. It proposes another way of looking at the post-colonial situation in Indonesian museums, not at the centre but more on the periphery."
