"ABSTRAKThe Indonesian goverment places the tourism industry as one of the five priority development sectors. it has proven by the foreign exchange earnings of this sector. If in 2015 this sector was ranked fourth under the oil & gas, coal, and crude palm oil wih a value of approximately 11 USD billion , then from 2018 to 2019 was ranked first with the foreign exchange value of around 20 USD billion. Indonesia consist of 17,000 large and small island, located at coordinates 6 N - 11 08 LS andfrom 95 BT - 141 45 BT. With these conditions, the choice of small islands to be tourist destinations. This study aims to determine consumer perceptions and assessment of tourism objects, ass well as from stakeholders, and provide strategic recomendations for the development of the island tourism. the reseach method used is a qualitative and descriptive method, trough focus group discussions, interview, and in-depth discussion with various stakeholders as well as distributed questionnaires to respondent who visited and stayed at the tourist destination. Four of the islands tourist sites studied were the anambas Island in Kepulauan Riau Province, ora Beach in Maluku Province, Wakatobi Island in Shoutheast Sulawesi Province, and the Banyuwangis Red Islad in East Java Province. The selection of these four destinations because the locaqtions have a far-reaching or remote character and highlight the islands tourism are the accesbility to tourist destinations to be able to show differences and advantages in each tourist destination. Goverment support plays a critical role in building tourism destinations, both through policies and rules, as well as infrastructure fulfillment."

"The tourism industry on Langkawi and Redang islands has played an important role in improving the wellbeingof the islands’ community. This study aims to investigate the contribution of the tourism sector towardsthe well-being of the islanders through multiple indicators of well-being; employment, expenditure andownership. Qualitative methods were employed to look at the changes of the islanders well-being over 10 years,after the year 2001. Both islands had been declared tourism destinations in the 1980’s. Several techniques wereused to get data; Focus Group Discussion (FGD); Interviews; and observation. The results showed there was aclear improvement in the well-being of people on both islands, especially in terms of employment, income andexpenses. All respondents acknowledged that their well-being has changed after getting a lot of jobopportunities on the islands. Of the 30 respondents in Langkawi, most of them admitted that they have betterincome. From the aspect of spending, all respondents spent enough for their families and themselves.Ownership of the respondents on Langkawi island has also changed due to the increased income and expenses.Analysis from the FGD session on Redang island showed that most of the informants admitted an increase injobs in the tourism sector enhanced the level of community’s well-being. As on Langkawi Island, employment,expenditure and ownership for the islanders on Redang Island also increased. The increasing jobs in the tourismindustry on Langkawi and Redang Island enhance the level of spending and ownership, thus enhance the wellbeingof the community on both tourism islands."

"Dengan semakin ditinggalkannya perekonomian berbasis sektor ekstraktif, kini pariwisata menjadi salah satu sektor yang memiliki peluang sangat besar untuk dijadikan sumber pertumbuhan ekonomi alternatif mengingat Indonesia memiliki potensi wisata yang sangat besar. Pemerintah di tingkat pusat maupun daerah pun gencar melakukan usaha pengembangan sektor pariwisata. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara lebih dalam dan mendetil bagaimana peranan sektor pariwisata dalam perekonomian Indonesia menggunakan analisis Model Input-Output dengan data I-O nasional tahun 1995, 2000, 2005, dan 2008. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum, sektor pariwisata merupakan sektor yang memiliki peran cukup penting dalam perekonomian Indonesia karena memiliki angka keterkaitan dan pengganda yang relatif tinggi. Dengan kata lain, permintaan atas barang dan jasa yang diproduksi oleh sektor ini, terutama restoran, hotel dan angkutan darat akan menggerakkan perekonomian secara keseluruhan.

With the abandonment of the extractive sector-based economy, tourism has now become one of the sectors that have a great opportunity to be a new source of economic growth since Indonesia has many tourism potentials. Government at central and regional levels are now start intensively developing the tourism sector. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze more deeply how does the tourism sector affect Indonesia‟s economy using Input-Output model.

The research concludes that in general, tourism sector has an important role in the Indonesian economy because it has a relatively high linkages and multiplier. In other words, the demand for goods and services produced by this sector, especially restaurants, hotels and land transportation will drive the overall economy."

"Thesis ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi bersaing dari Tiga Gili, Karimunjawa, dan Kep Seribu sebagai suatu studi kasus yang mencerminkan industri pariwisata bahari di Indonesia. Analisis yang dilakukan menggunakan Diamond Model Porter pada masing-masing studi kasus yang dianggap sebagai suatu Klaster Bisnis. Selain itu juga dilakukan analisis kepada masing-masing studi kasus untuk mengetahui apakah tanda-tanda suatu pembentukan klaster bisnis yang sukser sudah terlihat atau tidak. Terakhir dalam penelitian ini juga akan menghasilkan suatu rekomendasi strategis kepada Stakeholder masingmasing studi kasus yang ada.

This thesis aims to analyze the competitive strategies of the three Gili, Karimunjawa, and Kep Seribu as a case study that reflects the marine tourism industry in Indonesia. Analyzes were performed using Porter's Diamond Model at each case study is regarded as a business cluster. In addition, analysis was performed to study each case to determine whether the signs of a success business cluster formation is visible or not. Last in this study will also produce a strategic recommendations to the Stakeholder each the case studies."
