This study discusses the representation of Indonesia according to the songs of the artists, namely Wieteke Van Dort, Anneke Gronloh, and the band Rosy & Andres (Rosy Pereira and Dries Holten) who are artists of Indo-Dutch descent and born in the 1930-1945 era. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method and will analyze the denotation and connotation of the meaning of the song lyrics based on the semiotic theory proposed by Roland Barthes. The purpose of this study is to get an explanation of Indonesia in the eyes of Indo-Dutch singers who lived in the early days of Dutch independence and now live in the Netherlands. In this study, the meanings contained in the songs of the three artists were analyzed comparatively and associatively to get an overview of Indonesia. The song lyrics analyzed are five songs that contain associations with Indonesia, both sensory, and additional values. It can be concluded from the analysis that Indonesia is described positively by all artists and is represented in their songs through words or phrases associated with cultural richness, natural beauty, the character of the nation, or the charm of its people and cultural products."

This paper explains the figure of speech in four most popular songs in Dutch by Wieteke van Dort according to her Spotify page and its correlation with her identity as an Indo. Wieteke van Dort is a Dutch singer born and grew up in Indonesia (it was Dutch Indies back then). The focus of this paper lies on the types of figure of speech in said songs and their correlations with the Indo identity that van Dort holds according to Stuart Hall’s theory of identity. The methodology used in this paper is qualitative-descriptive which analysis is based on Antoine Braet’s figure of speech theory to identify the styles used in the songs and the identity theory from Hall to describe the dynamics of van Dort’s identity of being an Indo. The results of this paper is that the types of figure of speech used in the song lyrics sung by Wieteke van Dort emphasize more in the memories and the beauty of Dutch Indies and compare them to the conditions in the Netherlands. These figures of speech lead to exposing how van Dort embraces her identity as explained by Hall, especially after she moved to the Netherlands."

"In search of a path, An analysis of the foreign policy of Suriname from 1975 to 1991, Roger Janssen The foreign policy of small states is an often neglected topic, which is particularly the case when it comes to Suriname. How did the young Republic deal with its dependency on the Netherlands for development aid after 1975? Was Paramaribo following a certain foreign policy strategy or did it merely react towards internal and external events? What were the decision making processes in defining the foreign policy course and who was involved in these processes? And why was a proposal discussed to hand back the right of an independent foreign and defence policy to a Dutch Commonwealth government in the early 1990s? These questions are examined here in depth, in the first comprehensive analysis of Suriname's foreign policy from 1975 to 1991. The book provides readers interested in Caribbean and Latin American affairs with a detailed account of Suriname's external relations. Moreover, the young Republic may stand as a case study, as it confronted the difficulties and challenges that small developing states often face. Roger Janssen (1967), born in the Dutch-German border region of Cleve, migrated to Australia in 1989. He received his education as a historian at the University of Western Australia where he obtained a Ph.D. in 1999. During his graduate and post-graduate studies, the main focus of his research was directed towards the social-economic and political developments of the Dutch Caribbean after the Second World War. Currently he lives and works in the Netherlands."
