"Less than 30% of psychologists report familiarity with transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) clients' needs. The clients, in turn, report a lack of support in their gender journeys. There is clearly a large gap in knowledge, skill, and competence in this area of practice. This clinical guide aims to fill that gap by providing mental health practitioners with an affirmative approach that emphasizes a collaborative partnership guided by client-driven goals. An expert panel of contributors teaches readers strategies for working with a diverse array of TGNC clients, including adolescents, older adults, parents, and people of color. Client factors, including sexual orientation, religious and spiritual beliefs, and traumatic experiences, are also given special attention. Readers will learn how to address the impact of the injustices TGNC people face in everyday life, work with clients' strengths to enhance their resilience and coping skills, and advocate for their rights to obtain mental and physical health services. Readers will also learn how to negotiate complex issues, such as interdisciplinary care, ethical and legal obligations, and gender-affirming surgeries and medications. The chapter authors draw from evidence-based theories and APA's "Guidelines for Psychological Practice With Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People (PDF, 462KB)" to help readers meet the latest standards of care"

Self efficacy is a person 39 s belief when performing a form of control over his or her function and events in the environment, which is described as determining how a person feels, thinks, motivates himself or behaves. Transcultural nursing is an area of science and culture that in its learning and nursing practice focuses on cultural differences and similarities and values the beliefs, values, and lifestyle in providing meaningful and useful nursing care.
The objective of the study was to identify self efficacy on transcultural nursing in hospital nurses. The research design was cross sectional with total sampling method, the number of research samples of 190 hospital nurses in Palangka Raya. The questionnaire used is the Transcultural Self Efficacy Tool TSET that has been tested with the value of Validity Alpha Cronbach 0.760. The average nurse is predominantly 32 years old, female type, Christian religion, Dayak ethnicity, Nursing DIII Education level, PK 2 career path and average 10 years of service.
The results showed high self efficacy by 79.5 , moderate self efficacy of 20., and no low self efficacy. High self efficacy is a challenge for hospitals to continue to improve and maintain it as a capital on the quality of nursing services. Further research is expected to be conducted by qualitative methods by exploring the self efficacy of transcultural nursing on the nurses in certain tribes by linking to the provision of nursing care.
