"This volume brings together studies that explore the richness of the Arabic literary tradition and of Islamic intellectual life, from the beginnings of Islam to the present. The contributors cover an unusually wide range of subjects, including such topics as guile in the Quran, marriage in Islamic law, early esoterica, commentaries on al Hariris Maqamat, Hellenistic philosophy in Arabic, medieval music and song, scurrilous poetry, Arabic rhetoric, cursing, the modern social and legal history of the Middle East, al Kharrats modernist project, and contemporary Islamic thought and responses to it.
The volumes range reflects the enormous breadth of Everett Rowsons scholarship and his impact over a lifetime of publishing, editing, teaching, and mentoring in the many fields that constitute the Arabic humanities and Islamic thought. "

"Islamic intellectual thought is at the center of this collection of articles honoring Dimitri Gutas by friends, colleagues, and former students. The essays cover three main areas: the classical heritage and Islamic culture; classical Arabic science and philosophy; and Muslim traditional sciences. They show the interconnectedness between the Islamic intellectual tradition and its historical predecessors of Greek and Persian provenance, ranging from poetry to science and philosophy. Yet, at the same time, the authors demonstrate the independence of Muslim scholarship and the rich inner-Muslim debates that brought forth a flourishing scholastic culture in the sciences, philosophy, literature, and religious sciences. This collection also reflects the breadth of contemporary research on the intellectual traditions of Islamic civilization. "

This research is motivated because in Q.S. Al-Insān there is no progressive assimilation as occurs in the other suras. So this research formulates what consonant sounds are assimilated in Q.S. Al-Insān and how it relates to the rules of the science of recitation. The purpose of this study was to determine the assimilation process that occurred in Q.S. Al-Insān in order to be able to read it correctly in accordance with the rules of recitation. The main data source is the Q.S. Al-Insān, books and relevant articles. The method used by the author in conducting this research is a literature study method with a qualitative approach. The theory used is the assimilation theory by Lina (2019). In Q.S. Al-Insān, the author found regressive homorgan assimilation in tanwin vowels or consonants ن/n/ near س/s/, ك/k/, ق/q/, ف/f/, ج/j/, ث/ṡ/, د/d/, ط/ṭ/, ز/z/, and ش/sy/ related to tajwid law ikhfa; and total regressive assimilation of tanwin vowels or consonants ن/n/ or ل/l/ near ب/b/, ر/r/, م/m/, ن/n, و/w/, ي/y/,د/d/, س/s/, ط/ṭ/, dan ظ/ẓ/ related to tajwid law iqlab, idgām bilagunnah, idgām bigunnah, and idgām syamsiyyah.
