"Pengaruh modernitas telah dibawa ke dalam lingkup koloni Hindia Belanda melalui proses kolonialisme yang dikemas dalam bentuk teknologi, gaya hidup, dan arsitektur. Produk-produk modern ini telah mempengaruhi penduduk lokal dengan rasa ingin tahu terhadap hal-hal modern sehingga pada akhirnya menjadi tertarik untuk menjadi bagian dari masyarakat modern. Surabaya yang merupakan kota pelabuhan terbesar di Hindia Belanda, berusaha menciptakan pameran kolonial bernama Jaarmarkt dengan tujuan untuk mempromosikan ketrampilan dan komoditas lokal. Tampilan produk dan teknologi modern yang dipamerkan dalam pameran kolonial Hindia Belanda dilakukan guna mempromosikan modernitas dan pada saat yang bersamaan juga menarik penduduk lokal yang penasaran terhadap modernitas. Berbagai upaya termasuk salah satunya meniru pakaian yang dikenakan oleh bangsa Belanda serta pengambilan gaya arsitektur khas Belanda telah menunjukkan bahwa adanya kombinasi antara rasionalisasi barat dan lokalitas timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menguraikan arsitektur heterogen yang ditemukan pada pameran kolonial Jaarmarkt dapat menyatukan dua pihak yakni yang menjajah dan yang dijajah, serta bagaimana peran pameran tersebut dalam menyediakan ruang untuk penerapan modernitas.

Modernity has been brought into the Netherland Indies colony through colonialism in the form of technology, lifestyle, and architecture. These modern products have influenced indigenous people with curiosity toward modernity and eventually become attracted to become part of the modern society. Being the most prominent city port in the Netherland Indies, Surabaya sought to create Jaarmarkt colonial exhibition aimed to promote local craftsmanship and commodities. Displays of modern products and technology were showcased in the Netherland Indies colonial exhibitions has been done to promote modernity and also attract the curious indigenous. Many attempts include mimicking clothes worn by the Dutch and adopting Dutch style architecture has shown that there is a mix of western rationalization and eastern locality. This thesis aims to analyze and elaborate Jaarmarkt colonial exhibitions heterogeneous architecture that unifies both colonizers and colonized alike and how it became a space to practice modernity.

"[ ABSTRAK
Dikarenakan oleh perubahan yang disebabkan globalisasi, yang membawa
pengaruh buruk pada kualitas lingkungan, maka penting bagi arsitektur untuk
melakukan pendekatan yang bertanggung jawab terhadap alam dengan
menyediakan lingkungan yang sehat dan berkelanjutan untuk tempat huni
manusia. Gagasan untuk menciptakan ?ruang sehat? dalam arsitektur mengarah ke
upaya untuk menciptakan desain aktif yang memicu gaya hidup sehat dan
aktivitas fisik melalui fitur seperti penggunaan lahan campuran, walkability, pusat
olahraga dan kesehatan, ruang komunitas terbuka, dan ruang hijau. Usaha lain
adalah mengintegrasikan desain dengan unsur-unsur alam dan teknologi yang
efisien untuk mengurangi konsumsi energi dan air tanpa mengurangi tingkat
kenyamanan atau standar huni. Melalui penelititan yang mendalam pada arsitektur
yang berkelanjutan, konteks dan analisis tapak, studi kasus, dan observasi
langsung, tulisan ini akan menguraikan aspek dalam mencapai gaya hidup sehat
melalui desain arsitektur, yang disajikan melalui berbagai konsep desain dan
aplikasi pada tapak. Karya tulis ini berdasarkan proyek studio penulis yang
terletak di Perth, Australia Barat.

"Pasar adalah sebuah tempat manusia untuk mendapatkan barang-barang kebutuhan sehari-hari. Kata pasar tidak akan terlepas dari kegiatan belanja. Manusia akan melakukan kegiatan belanja ketika datang ke pasar. Berbelanja adalah sebuah kegiatan konsumtif yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan barang-barang kebutuhan sehari-hari. Tidak hanya manusia yang berbelanja saja yang ada di dalam pasar. Dahulu, kegiatan belanja yang terjadi di dalam pasar melibatkan pihak pembeli dengan pihak penjual secara langsung. Selain itu, pada transaksinya juga terdapat proses tawar menawar. Dan, barang-barang yang dijual cenderung tidak tahan lama. Hal itulah yang membuat kegiatan belanja di dalam pasar cukup memakan waktu lama dan manusia harus lebih sering berbelanja. Sedangkan, manusia saat ini dapat dibilang tidak mempunyai banyak waktu untuk kegiatan tersebut.
Sesuai tuntutan zaman yang dilakukan oleh manusia-manusia modern, kegiatan berbelanja yang terjadi dalam sebuah pasar pun ikut berkembang. Kegiatan berbelanja kemudian berubah. Berbelanja saat ini dapat dilakukan secara cepat tanpa proses tawar menawar dengan pelayanan sendiri. Barang-barang yang ditawarkan juga berupa kemasan sehingga dapat disimpan dalam jangka waktu yang cukup lama.
Pola perilaku manusia yang terus berkembang menuntut segala kegiatan yang lebih cepat dan praktis. Hal ini yang mempengaruhi sikap dan tingkah laku manusia di setiap kegiatannya. Akibatnya, banyak penyesuaian yang dilakukan dan akan terus mengalami perubahan, dari tata cara manusia berbelanja yang diterapkan di pasar hingga ruang-ruang kegiatan di dalam pasar.
Penulis ingin membahas lebih jauh lagi, seberapa besar pengaruh perubahan gaya hidup manusia terhadap arsitektur pasar, baik fisik maupun nonfisik, yang terwujud akibat kegiatan-kegiatan manusia yang terjadi di dalamnya.

The market is a place for human to get their needs. The word market will not separated to shop activity. People usually do this activity when they come in to the market-place. Shopping is a consumptive activity with purpose to get the daily needs. Formerly, shopping in the market directly involve a buyer and a seller. There is also a negotiation between them in their transaction. And, the commodities are not be able to keep in storage for a long time. As a consequence, shopping in the market always take a long time and people have to spent a lot of time to get their needs. Even though, people at this period could be said that they don?t have much time for shopping.
According to the time demand with modern people, shopping activity is also change. Now, shopping can be done in few moments without the negotiation process. The sellers are offered their commodities wrapped up so it?s possible to keep their commodities for a long time and the buyers also can keep their needs for the long period of time.
Human behaviors will always growing to follow the time and it is require everything faster and practical. It will influence the human acting in their activities. And, the results of it, many things inside the market, as a human place, are changed, from the shopping system until the space-activities in the marketplace.
I want to study this case further, so we will know how far the humanlifestyle influence market architecture, either physical or non-physical, that realized from human activities in the market.

"Gaya hidup merupakan aspek yang tidak pernah lepas dari seorang individu. Gaya hidup menggambarkan bagaimana seseorang dapat hidup, bertempat tinggal, dan bersosialisasi. Gencarnya perkembangan mengenai gaya hidup melahirkan satu gaya hidup dengan prinsip kesederhanaan yaitu gaya hidup minimalis. Gaya hidup minimalis yang awalnya hadir dari aliran minimalis pada segi seni, arsitektur, dan bidang lainnya kian berkembang hingga akhirnya banyak yang mengikuti dan menyuarakan mengenai gaya hidup ini. Penulisan skripsi ini dilakukan untuk melihat bagaimana peran gaya hidup minimalis terhadap pemilihan dan kesamaan karakteristik tempat tinggal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini adalah dengan kajian literatur mengenai sejarah minimalis, persepsi pengikut gaya hidup minimalis, sampai peran gaya hidup minimalis terhadap spasial, serta studi kasus dengan melakukan observasi terhadap beberapa tempat tinggal pengikut gaya hidup minimalis. Hasil kajian literatur dan studi kasus yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa adanya peran gaya hidup minimalis terhadap pemilihan dan kesamaan karakteristik tempat tinggal seseorang. Dengan melakukan studi kasus tentang hubungan gaya hidup dengan proses perancangan tempat tinggal, didapatkan bahwa dalam proses merancang gaya hidup dan kegiatan sehari-hari yang kerap kali diabaikan menjadi penting untuk keberlangsungan rancangan.

Lifestyle is an aspect that can never be separated from an individual. Lifestyle can describes a person’s way of live, living, and socialize. The incessant search for a lifestyle among societies, minimalism, a lifestyle with the principle of simplicity was born. The minimalism lifestyle that originally came from the minimalists movement in terms of art, architecture, and others, keeps growing and make a massive crowd who joined in and voicing it. The writing of this thesis is done to see how the role of lifestyle have influence on the choices and characteristics of residences. The method used in writing this thesis is literature review on the history of minimalism, the perception of the minimalists, the role of minimalism lifestyle in spatial construction, as well as case studies with observations of several minimalist’s houses. The results of the literature review and case studies show that minimalism lifestyle take part of housing preference and characteristics. By conducting a case study on the relationship between minimalism lifestyle and the residential design process, it was found that lifestyle and daily activities is an important aspects in designing residential mainly for the sustainability of the design."

"Gen Y merupakan kelompok usia dengan rentang 20-39 tahun dan merupakan generasi terbesar pada wilayah perkotaan di Indonesia. Dengan jumlah penduduk terbesar, pasar perumahan mulai melirik generasi ini dengan menghadirkan rumah yang sesuai preferensi mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis gaya hidup Gen Y terhadap preferensi perumahan dengan ruang lingkup penelitian di Kota Depok. Dengan menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif, hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa Gen Y yang telah berkeluarga dan memiliki anak adalah kelompok yang paling dipengaruhi oleh gaya hidup saat menentukan preferensi rumah. Hasil penelitian ini turut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat paradoks gaya hidup antara dua kelompok, yakni Gen Y junior dan Gen Y senior karena dipengaruhi oleh lokasi perumahan dan aksesibilitas terhadap fasilitas pendidikan.

Gen Y is the age group with a range of 20-39 years and now is the largest generation in urban areas in Indonesia. As a result of their proportion to the urban population structure, the housing market has started to provide housing based on their preferences. This study aims to analyze the Gen Y lifestyle towards housing preferences with the scope of research in Depok City. Conducted with mixed methods, quantitative and qualitative research, the results of the study found that Gen Y who are married and are parents were the groups most affected by lifestyle when determining their housing preferences. The results of this study also showed that there is a lifestyle paradox between the two groups,Gen Y junior and Gen Y senior which affected by housing location and accessibility to educational facilities."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami pembentukan praktik konsumsi dalam gaya hidup minimalis. Gaya hidup minimalis merupakan salah satu bentuk gaya hidup alternatif yang mengkontradiksi nilai-nilai hiperkonsumerisme, dan berorientasi pada peningkatan kualitas hidup dengan memprioritaskan unsur-unsur esensial dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan menanggalkan apa yang dipandang tidak esensial dalam konteks praktik konsumsi pada kehidupan keseharian. Penelitian ini memahami gaya hidup minimalis yang dipraktikkan oleh aktor minimalisme sebagai taktik dalam berkonsumsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan strategi penelitian fenomenologi. Melalui metode wawancara mendalam terhadap tujuh informan aktor minimalisme, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa gaya hidup minimalis terbentuk melalui proses transisi, yang berujung pada implementasi dengan mengadaptasi pola pikir dan perilaku kritis terhadap setiap bentuk konsumsi keseharian baik di ranah material maupun nonmaterial. Melalui gaya hidup minimalis, aktor minimalisme merasakan dampak yang menguntungkan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan mulai dari psikis, sosial, material dan finansial.

This research's objective is to understand how consumption practice is formed in minimalism lifestyle. Minimalism lifestyle is one of the alternative lifestyles that contradict hyperconsumerism values, where it aims to enhance the quality of life by prioritizing only essential elements and eliminating what is cosidered as less essential elements in terms of consumption practice in the daily life. This research utilizes qualitative approach and phenomenological research strategy. Through in-depth interview towards seven minimalists as interviewees, this research finds that the practice of minimalism lifestyle is formed through a process of transition, culminated by adapting critical mindset and behaviour towards all forms of daily consumption, comprising of material or nonmaterial aspects. By practicing minimalism lifestyle, minimalism actors experience beneficial impacts in various aspects of living including psychological, social, material and financial."

"Saat ini jumlah media bertema lingkungan di Indonesia hampir tidak ada. Situs yang membahas mengenai gaya hidup ramah lingkungan masih terbatas pada situs resmi NGO maupun channel youtube perorangan yang peduli terhadap isu lingkungan dan tidak menyajikan informasi setiap hari. Dari segi media jurnalistik di Indonesia, belum ada situs berita yang spesifik membahas gaya hidup ramah lingkungan setiap hari.
Porsi pemberitaan lingkungan di media arus utama pun belum menjadi prioritas. Ekspos yang disajikan pihak media kebanyakan hanya mengungkapkan akibat dan dampak dari kerusakan lingkungan. Problem fundamental yang menyebabkan degradasi ekologis sangat langka dijadikan prioritas agenda pemberitaan. Boleh dikatakan bahwa pihak media lebih dominan menunjukkan sikap reaktif yang bersifat sesaat, seperti isu politik, ekonomi dan demokratisasi dan memarginalkan isu-isu dan persoalan lingkungan hidup.
Portal media berita daring yang khusus tentang gaya hidup ramah lingkungan akan bermanfaat bagi khalayak urban masa kini yang tertarik dan menerapkan gaya hidup ramah lingkungan. Di samping itu, pengelola juga akan mendapatkan manfaat jika media berita ini dapat terealisasi menjadi produk yang nyata. Sedangkan tujuannya adalah menjadi pilihan utama khalayak yang ingin mendapat informasi mengenai penerapan gaya hidup ramah lingkungan di Indonesia.

At present there are almost no specific media that discuss the eco-lifestyle in Indonesia. In Indonesia platforms that discuss eco-lifestyle can only be accessed on the official NGO website and individual YouTube channels that care about environmental issues but they don't produce daily information. there is no journalistic media in Indonesia with an eco-lifestyle theme.
In the mainstream media, the topic of eco-lifestyle is not a priority. The effects of environmental damage are more widely reported. Fundamental problems that cause ecological degradation are very rare to be prioritized in the news agenda. It can be said that the mainstream media shows more temporary reactive attitudes, such as political, economic and democratization issues. While they marginalize environmental issues.
Online news media portals that are specialized in eco-lifestyle will benefit today's urban society, that interested in and implementing an eco-lifestyle. In addition, managers will also benefit if this news media can be realized into a real product. While the goal is to be the first choice of the public who want to get information about implementing an eco-lifestyle in Indonesia.

"Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang bagaimana fenomena gaya hidup penggunaan rokok elektrik di kalangan generasi z. Berbagai studi terdahulu dengan pembahasan yang sama melihat bahwa rokok elektrik merupakan suatu gaya hidup baru bagi generasi z, yang penggunannya didasari oleh berbagai faktor seperti anggapan lebih sehat dibanding rokok konvensional, faktor harga, faktor variasi rasa, maupun faktor lingkungan sosial. Kemudian, rokok elektrik dianggap sebagai suatu tren gaya hidup kekinian yang dimaknai sebagai alat simbolis sebagai identitas diri dari sebuah status sosial. Akan tetapi, studi terdahulu tidak membahas bagaimana inovasi dari rokok elektrik menjadi daya tarik yang memicu budaya konsumen, selain itu belum banyak studi yang membahas eksistensi perempuan dalam fenomena ini. Peneliti melihat bahwa fenomena penggunaan rokok elektrik saat ini juga turut terjadi di kalangan perempuan. Oleh karena itu, peneliti berargumen bahwa rokok elektrik merupakan suatu inovasi yang memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bagi perempuan generasi z, dimana inovasi tersebut menjadi pemicu adanya budaya konsumen sehingga terdapat pemaknaan simbolis dari penggunaan rokok elektrik tersebut. Dengan menggunakan teori budaya konsumen milik Featherstone sebagai pisau analisis, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa inovasi pada produk rokok elektrik saat ini justru semakin mengarah pada kalangan perempuan sehingga terdapat kesan feminisasi produk. Selain itu, penggunaan rokok elektrik di kalangan generasi z perempuan juga merupakan perilaku dalam mengonsumsi tanda atau simbol yang kemudian dapat berperan pada status sosial. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui wawancara mendalam dengan subjek penelitian individu (perempuan generasi z) yang tergolong sebagai pengguna rokok elektrik yang sebelumnya merokok konvensional maupun hanya pengguna rokok elektrik. Pengambilan subjek penelitian akan dilakukan di lokasi fasilitas umum seperti Café, Restoran, dan tempat umum lainnya. Metode pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah Purposive Sampling dan Snowball Sampling.

This study aims to find out how the lifestyle phenomenon of e-cigarette use among generation z. Various previous studies with the same discussion saw that e-cigarettes are a new lifestyle for generation z, whose use is based on various factors such as assumptions of being healthier than conventional cigarettes, price factors, taste variation factors, and social environmental factors. Electronic cigarettes are also considered as a contemporary lifestyle trend which is interpreted as a symbolic tool as self-identity of a social status. However, previous studies have not discussed on how the innovation of e-cigarettes has become an attraction that triggers consumer culture, other than that there have not been many studies that discuss the existence of women in this phenomenon. Researchers see that the phenomenon of e-cigarette use currently also occurs among women. Therefore, researchers argue that electronic cigarettes are an innovation that has its own appeal to generation z women, where the innovation triggers the existence of consumer culture so that there is a symbolic meaning of the use of electronic cigarettes. Using Featherstone's consumer culture theory as an analytical tool, this study found that innovation in e-cigarette products today is increasingly directed at women so that there is an impression of product feminization. In addition, the use of e-cigarettes among generation z women is also a behavior in consuming signs or symbols that can then play a role in social status. This study was conducted with a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with individual research subjects (generation z women) who were classified as e-cigarette users who had previously smoked conventional or only e-cigarette users. The collection of research subjects will be carried out at the location of public facilities such as cafes, restaurants, and other public places. The sampling methods in this study are Purposive Sampling and Snowball Sampling. "
