"ABSTRAKThe purpose of the present paper is to distinguish and compare several ways of articulating and defending the policy ideal of multiculturalism. It distinguishes three approaches: the culturalist approach, the domination/oppression approach, and the community rebuilding approach. After briefly looking at the former two approaches, the present paper examines the community rebuilding approach in more detail. The community rebuilding approach attracts relatively little at- tention in political theory literature, but it is nonetheless informing important policy debates and practices of multiculturalism today. Finally, the paper com- pares the merits and demerits of the three approaches, and considers the appro- priate way of articulating and applying multiculturalism in particular situations."

"This paper aims to show that the traditional governance system, Lampik Empat Merdike and Sindang merdike (free men) established by the Besemah society in the past is the source of enthusiasm and democratic spirit in Besemah ethnocratic society. Besemah people's lives have changed through many different periods, from the megalithic, to the imperial, the colonial and to post-colonial (independence) periods. The kind of change that has taken place is concerned with the society?s view of diversity in various aspects, such as culture, knowledge, the world outside the ethnic community of Besemah, and education. Thus, multiculturalism is a unique characteristic of the Besemah community. There are two important aspects of multiculturalism in the Besemah community, namely: (1) interaction and communication between different cultures (Besemah and Dutch), (2) changes in public perception regarding the Besemah from local to global perceptions. These demonstrate that the community has a unique type of multiculturalism based on ethnocracy and the traditional governance system.The research shows that multiculturalism in Besemah society still exists in their daily lives and has a pragmatic function to improve the quality of life in various sectors."

"ABSTRAKKrisis imigran yang melanda Eropa berdampak pada negara anggota, salah satunya Denmark. Denmark memberlakukan kebijakan dalam Asylum Packet 2016 untuk menghentikan Denmark sebagai negara yang menarik bagi para pencari suaka. Kebijakan Asylum Packet 2016 banyak menuai kontrovesi dengan adanya peraturan ldquo;Jewellery Law rdquo;. Kebijakan ini berkaitan dengan upaya pengendalian sosial dalam masyarakat Denmark. Keadilan dalam proses pembuatan dipertanyakan karena kebijakan ini melanggar hak asasi manusia dan diskiriminasi. Terdapat campur tangan politik sayap kanan dalam pembuatan kebijakan dan penyebaran stigma negatif imigran. Adapun pada perspektif multikulturalisme, hal ini menjadi penghambat proses integrasi, apabila pada prakteknya masyarakat dominan di Denmark tidak dapat mengakomodir fasilitas dan kebutuhan minoritas. Kymlicka menetapkan lima karakteristik dan jika kondisi fasilitas ini terpenuhi, maka multikulturalisme dapat dijadikan pilihan dengan risiko yang rendah dan hasil multikulturalisme dapat digunakan untuk mengakomodasi keragaman. Kebijakan ini juga telah menentang ketentuan directive Uni Eropa. Pada sisi lain, kebijakan Asylum Packet 2016 menunjukan bahwa hukum Uni Eropa memiliki kelemahan dan kelonggaran hukum di dalamnya.

ABSTRACTImmigrant crisis that hit the European impact on the Member States, including Denmark. Denmark enacted a policy in Asylum Packet 2016 to stop Denmark as an attractive country for asylum seekers. The policy of Asylum Packet 2016 reaps a lot of controversy with the rule of ldquo Jewellery Law rdquo . This policy is concerned with the attempts of social control in Danish society. Justice in thr process of making make it questionable because this policy violates human rights and discrimination. There is a right wing political interference in policy making and the spread of negative stigma of immigrants. As for the perspektive of multiculturalism, it is becoming a barrier to the process of integration, if in practice the dominant society in Denmark can not accommodate the facilities and the needs of minorities. Kymlicka set five characteristics and if the conditions of this facility are met, then multiculturalism can be a low risk choice and multicultural result can be used to accommodate diversity. This policy has also opposed provisions of the EU directive. On the other hand, Asylum Packet 2016 policy indicate that EU law has weaknesses and legal looseness in it. "

"Skripsi ini membahas tantangan tersendiri yang ada pada multikulturalisme kontemporer dan bagaimana mengatasinya, dengan menjabarkan penelitian yang dilakukan atas pemikiran Bhikhu Parekh, khususnya pada bukunya yang berjudul Rethinking Multiculturalism. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan interpretatif-analitis. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa multikulturalisme kontemporer membutuhkan suatu wadah khusus, berupa struktur politik yang berperspektif multikultural, sehingga mampu mengakomodasi keadilan, kebudayaan kolektif majemuk, dan identitas nasional untuk hidup di dalamnya. Jaminan atas ketiga hal ini yang mampu menjawab tantangan atas multikulturalisme kontemporer.

"ABSTRACTPerpindahan penduduk di zaman ini tidak terelakkan. Di satu sisi, hal ini dapat berdampak positif bagi perkembangan ekonomi di sebuah wilayah. Namun di sisi lain, secara psikologis, banyaknya kelompok pendatang dapat berpotensi menimbulkan gesekan antar kelompok, yang salah satunya disebabkan oleh adanya persepsi bahwa eksistensi dan identitas dari kelompok lokal-mayoritas terancam akibat keberadaan kelompok pendatang. Oleh karena itu, untuk menjaga keharmonisan antar kelompok, penting untuk memahami upaya-upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengembangkan outgroup attitude yang positif. Penelitian ini berusaha melihat pengaruh persepsi ancaman terhadap outgroup attitude. Lebih lanjut, penelitian ini juga ingin melihat peran multikulturalisme dan polikulturalisme dalam memoderasi hubungan antara persepsi ancaman dan outgroup attitude. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan tersebut, 302 partisipan yang merupakan masyarakat Hindu-Bali dengan rentang usia 18 ndash; 64 tahun, dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil utama penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi ancaman memiliki hubungan yang negatif dan signifikan dengan outgroup attitude B = -0,50, 95 CI [-0,6, -0,39], p < 0,01. Hasil penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa polikulturalisme dapat memoderasi hubungan antara persepsi ancaman dan outgroup attitude secara signifikan B = -0.29, 95 CI [-0.49, -0.09], p < 0.01. Namun demikian, tidak ditemukan efek yang signifikan pada multikulturalisme dalam memoderasi hubungan antara persepsi ancaman dan outgroup attitude B = 0.08, 95 CI [-0.10, 0.25], p > 0.05. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi ancaman yang dipersepsi individu, maka semakin negatif outgroup attitude atau sikap yang ia tunjukkan kepada kelompok luar. Selain itu, hasil analisis moderasi menunjukkan bahwa polikulturalisme merupakan salah satu ideologi budaya yang efektif dalam menanggulangi dampak persepsi ancaman terhadap outgroup attitude.

ABSTRACTIn todays world, migration is inevitable. On the one side, this phenomenon has positive impact for the economic development of that respective region. But on the other side, from the perspective of psychology, this massive amount of immigrants could potentially give rise to intergroup conflict, due to the perception that local majority group rsquo s existence and cultural identity are being threatened because of the immigrants presence. Therefore, to maintain intergroup harmony, it is essential to understand how positive outgroup attitude could be developed. This study aimed to examine the effect of threat perception on outgroup attitude. Furthermore, this study also seek to understand the role of multiculturalism and polyculturalism in moderating the effect of threat perception on outgroup attitude. To answer these questions, 302 participants of Balinese Hindu people with the age range of 18 ndash 64 years, are involved in this study. The result of this study found that threat perception has negative and significant relationship with outgroup attitude B 0,50, 95 CI 0,6, 0,39, p 0,01. This study also found that polyculturalism can significantly moderate the relationship between threat perception and outgroup attitude B 0.29, 95 CI 0.49, 0.09, p 0.01. However, there is no significant moderating effect found of multiculturalism on the relationship between threat perception and outgroup attitude B 0.08, 95 CI 0.10, 0.25, p 0.05. These results may indicate that the higher the threat an individual perceives, their outgroup attitude toward other groups would also be more negative. Moreover, moderation analysis shows that polyculturalism is one of cultural ideology that could effectively overcome the impact of threat to outgroup attitude."

"Tesis ini meneliti tentang konsep dan implementasi gaya kepemimpinan multikulturalisme dalam organisasi kepemudaan nasional dengan mengambil studi kasus pada Dewan Pimpinan Pusat Komite Nasional Pemuda Indonesia periode 2011-2014. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan design penelitian deskriptif-analitis.Hasil penelitian ini adalah kepemimpinan multikulturalisme sudah cukup dijalankan dengan baik dalam organisasi KNPI. Hal itu dapat terlihat dengan terciptanya perasaan saling menghargai keberagaman suku, agama, budaya, latar belakang organisasi dan lainnya yang ada dalam kepengurusan. Selain itu para pemimpin organisasi ini sudah berusaha maksimal mempengaruhi dan mengajak anggota atau kader lain untuk menjalankan kepemimpinan multikultural.Dalam persoalan multikulturalisme yang berkaitan dengan pola komunikasi antar budaya, para pengurus berusaha mengelola dinamika yang terjadi dalam kepengurusan selama tiga tahun. Ada beberapa kekurangan yang harus dibenahi seperti masih adanya pandangan kepemimpinan dijalankan dengan sistem politik uang, belum adanya standar baku kepemimpinan setiap kepengurusan, masih adanya program yang belum berjalan, pola komunikasi yang harus lebih efektif lagi dan masih menguatnya maskulinitas dalam kepengurusan sehingga posisi perempuan atau pemudi belum mendapatkan porsi yang seimbang dalam kepengurusan.

This thesis examines the concept and implementation of leadership style multiculturalism in the national youth organization with a case study on the Central Executive Board of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth 2011-2014 period. This study is a qualitative study with descriptive-analytic study design.Results of this study are leadership multiculturalism run well enough in the organization KNPI. It can be seen with the creation of mutual respect diversity of tribe, religion, culture, background organizations and other that exist in the management. Besides the leaders of this organization has been trying to maximum affect and invite members or other cadres to run a multicultural leadership.In issues related to multiculturalism intercultural communication patterns, officials are trying to manage the dynamics that occur in the management for three years.
