"We use more than 100 000 chemicals in our daily lives to promote health, treat disease, facilitate transportation, use in industrial processes, grow food and access clean water. While these developments have improved human lives, many of these compounds ultimately end up in our seas and oceans where they represent a threat to marine life, ourselves and our continued use of the oceans to treat our waste, provide us with food and offer us recreation. Many of the pollution problems of previous decades seem to have been resolved, in the developed world, or at least managed to minimise their environmental impacts. However, despite treatments being available that reduce their damaging qualities, a potent mixture of toxic compounds enter the marine environment every day along with other potentially harmful additions including heat, noise and light and non-native species. The question thus arises: is pollution a problem that has really been solved? How well are we managing traditional pollutants? What are the challenges we still face today? What are the upcoming marine pollution challenges that face society? This volume describes the different marine pollutants, the science behind measuring their ecological impacts and how they are monitored in the environment, including traditional and new management approaches. This is an up-to-date account of marine pollution within the broad ecological and social context of a growing, technologically advanced, global population."

"The purpose of this study is to clarify the ecosystem quality of Bayur Bay based on heavy metallic elements in surface sediment. Samples were collected using grab sampler from four stations in Bayur Bay. Concentration of heavy metallic elements were determined using ASS. Results of linier regression analysis show negative correlation between Cd concentration and mean size diameter. COntrastingly, Pb has correlation with size diameter. Cd and Pb concentrations in surface sediment of Bauyr Bay are lower than the ERL and ERM indicating it is not yet polluted."

"Tumpahan minyak di perairan telah menimbulkan pencemaran di lingkungan laut maupun di daerah pesisir pantai, sehingga perlu dilakukan penelusuran kejadian tumpahan minyak dapat digunakan untuk mitigasi bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sebaran dan pergerakan tumpahan minyak di perairan Cilacap, Jawa Tengah tahun 2008, serta hubungannya dengan angin, arus, dan pasang surut. Identifikasi tumpahan minyak dilakukan dengan interpretasi citra Modis surface reflectance dengan melihat penurunan nilai spektral dan diikuti oleh peningkatan nilai fluorescence index. Tumpahan minyak menyebar di sekitar pesisir pantai Teluk Penyu Kecamatan Cilacap Selatan, Kecamatan Cilacap Utara, Kecamatan Kesugihan dan Kecamatan Adipala, dengan luas total area yang tercemar sebesar 1.378 ha. Angin merupakan faktor dominan yang berpengaruh terhadap pergerakan minyak dibandingkan dengan arus dan pasang surut. Pergerakan tumpahan minyak menyebar menjauhi lokasi sumber tumpahan dan bergerak searah dengan arah angin menuju ke arah timur. Dari kondisi oseanografis menunjukan bahwa jenis penyebarannya termasuk kedalam jenis difusi gabungan ekspansi dan relokasi.
The oil spill in the waters has occurred pollution in the marine environment as well as in coastal areas, so needs to do investigation of occurrence oil spill which can use for disaster mitigation. This research is going to describe the distribution and movement of oil spill in Cilacap coastal, Central Java in 2008, and its relation with the wind, currents, and tides. Identification of oil spill conducted by Modis image surface reflectance interpretation by looking at the impairment of spectral and was followed increase in fluorescence index value. Distribution of oil spill spreading around at Teluk Penyu coast of south Cilacap, North Cilacap, Kesugihan, and Adipala, with a total area of 1.378 ha contaminated. Wind is the dominant factor influencing the movement of oil compared with currents and tides. The movement away from the spreading oil spill and the spill source location moves in the direction of the wind toward the east. Of oceanographic conditions indicate that the type of distribution, including the type of diffusion into the combined expansion and relocation."

"[ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami kekuatan NGO melalui strategi
advokasi kampanye yang dilakukan untuk mengubah perilaku atau
kebijakan aktor-aktor lain. Dalam penelitian ini akan dianalisa strategi
advokasi Greenpeace Detox Campaign on Fashion dalam mengadvokasi
polusi air di Tiongkok tahun 2011 hingga 2013. Strategi advokasi yang
digunakan oleh Greenpeace adalah kampanye?meliputi information
politics, leverage politics, symbolic politics serta accountability politics.
Dalam penelitian ini juga dianalisa bagaimana hubungan antar aktor,
terutama Greenpeace sebagai aktor NGO dengan aktor target kampanye,
yaitu perusahaan fashion global, masyarakat global dan Tiongkok.
Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa strategi advokasi berupa kampanye
berhasil mempengaruhi kebijakan aktor target kampanye terkait persoalan
polusi air di Tiongkok.

"Salah satu negara di dunia yang mengkhawatirkan permasalahan pencemaran laut akibat limbah plastik adalah Indonesia, dimana Indonesia merupakan negara penyumbang limbah plastik laut terbanyak kedua di dunia setelah Tiongkok. Penyebab dari permasalahan tersebut adalah kapasitas pengelolaan limbah Indonesia saat ini belum mampu menangani besarnya jumlah limbah yang dihasilkan. Produksi limbah plastik ini berpotensi terus mengalami kenaikan seiring dengan meningkatnya populasi dan pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia. Pemerintah telah menyusun beberapa strategi untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, salah satu di antaranya adalah mendorong peralihan pendekatan pengelolaan limbah yang digunakan dari ekonomi linier menjadi ekonomi sirkular. Salah satu perusahaan yang turut berpartisipasi dalam pendekatan ini adalah PT Tridi Oasis yang merupakan sebuah perusahaan yang mendaur ulang botol plastik berbahan PET (polietilena tereftalat) menjadi bentuk serpihan. Untuk terus mendukung peningkatan daur ulang limbah di Indonesia dan mengembangkan bisnisnya, PT Tridi Oasis harus mengatasi permasalahan yang sedang dihadapinya saat ini, yaitu ketidaktercapaian hasil produksi terhadap target produksi yang telah ditetapkan, sehingga perusahaan perlu meningkatkan kinerja produksinya. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) merupakan salah satu pengukuran kinerja yang dapat membantu perusahaan dalam memahami seberapa baik kinerja dari proses manufaktur dan mengidentifikasi hal apa yang menghalangi kenaikan efektivitas tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, nilai OEE masih tergolong rendah, yaitu sebesar 4,30%, sehingga OEE belum memenuhi target perusahaan maupun standar kelas dunia. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kinerja produksi PT Tridi Oasis masih belum optimal karena ada kerugian (losses) yang terjadi selama proses produksi yang menyebabkan nilai OEE menjadi rendah. Kerugian yang paling berpengaruh terhadap kinerja produksi PT Tridi Oasis adalah speed losses sebesar 55,03% dan quality losses sebesar 32,18%. Selanjutnya, dilakukan identifikasi mode kegagalan pada kedua losses tersebut yang menghasilkan 5 mode kegagalan untuk speed losses dan 6 kegagalan untuk quality losses. Kemudian, ditentukan tindakan perbaikan yang dapat dilakukan oleh perusahaan untuk mengatasi setiap mode kegagalan.

One of the countries in the world that is concerned about the problem of marine plastic debris is Indonesia, where Indonesia is the second-largest contributor to marine plastic debris in the world after China. The cause of this problem is that Indonesia's current waste management capacity is not able to handle the amount of waste generated. The production of plastic waste has the potential to continue to increase along with the increasing population and economic growth in Indonesia. The government has developed several strategies to overcome this issue, one of which is to encourage the shift of the waste management approach used from a linear economy to a circular economy. One of the companies participating in this approach is PT Tridi Oasis, a company that recycles plastic bottles made from PET (polyethylene terephthalate) into flakes. To continue to support the increase in waste recycling in Indonesia and to develop its business, PT Tridi Oasis must overcome the problem they currently face, namely the failure to achieve the production target that has been set, so the company needs to improve its production performance. Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a performance measurement that can help a company understand how well the manufacturing process performs and identify what hinders the increase in effectiveness. Based on the calculation results, the OEE value is still relatively low, at 4.30%, so that OEE has not met the company's target or world-class standards. The results indicate that the production performance of PT Tridi Oasis is still not optimal because there are losses that occur during the production process which causes the OEE value to be low. The losses that affect the production performance of PT Tridi Oasis the most are speed losses of 55.03% and quality losses of 32.18%. Furthermore, the identification of failure modes for the two losses resulted in 5 failure modes for speed losses and 6 failures for quality losses. Then, the recommended actions that can be taken by the company to overcome each failure mode are planned."
