"Tesis ini berusaha melihat pengaruh opini publik terhadap dalam proses perumusan kebijakan luar negeri Indonesia. Tesis ini berusaha menjawab pertanyaan bagaimana pro-kontra RCEP di dalam negeri mempengaruhi keputusan Indonesia menyepakati RCEP walaupun terdapat protes dari Kelompok Masyarakat Sipil. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan melakukan metode pengumpulan dokumen berupa yang melaui desk study dan juga wawancara. menyepakati RCEP. Hasil Penelitian ini menyebutkan bahwa opini publik yang terbentuk di masyarakat justru didominasi positif. Walaupun demikian opini publik bukan satu-satunya yang membentuk kebijakan luar negeri Indonesia. Hal ini juga dipengaruhi sistem masyarakat sipil yang lemah. Hal ini didukung dengan sistem politik yang terpusat dan juga jejaring yang kuat antar elit politik dan juga bisnis dalam konteks pembuatan kebijakan bergabungnya Indonesia di dalam RCEP.

This thesis aims to see the influence of Indonesian public opinion in Indonesian foreign policy making. This thesis attempts to answer the question how various domestic opinions about RCEP affect Indonesia position to involve in RCEP. This research based on qualitative method by collecting documents by doing desk study and interviews. The results of this study finds that public opinion towards RCEP is dominantly positive. This caused by weak civil society system. This is supported by a centralized political system and also strong relationship between domestic business and political elites in the context of policy making for Indonesia's agreeing the RCEP."
