"This manual is a user-friendly, comprehensive description of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) model of autism treatment, the latest scientific information on what truly works in treating autism in an integrated, organized, consumable format. The book details effective early behavioral intervention, covering topics such as challenging behavior, visual modification, parental involvement, improving language, cognition, and social skills, and ends with a section that explains how all of the treatments can be put together in real-life service provision organizations. The CARD model is highly comprehensive and provides useful clinical information to form cutting-edge treatment programs."

"Comorbidity and complexity of cases seen in clinical work form a basis for discounting the applicability and generality of evidence-based treatments (EBTs). The authors evaluated treatment outcomes in 2 samples of clinically referred children who met criteria for oppositional defiant disorder (n = 183; 42 girls, 141 boys; ages 3-14) or conduct disorder (n = 132; 35 girls, 97 boys; ages 7-14) but varied in comorbidity (up to 5 additional disorders). In addition to comorbidity, 4 domains of case complexity were evaluated: scope and severity of child dysfunction, socioeconomic disadvantage, parent and family functioning, and barriers that emerged during treatment. Comorbidity was associated with greater therapeutic change. Children who varied in comorbidity did not differ on outcome measures at the end of treatment. Complexity was either unrelated or positively related to therapeutic change. As an exception, perceived barriers were associated with less child improvement, but, even with high barriers, effect sizes for these children were large. The findings suggest that comorbidity or complexity of cases does not necessarily influence outcome or limit the applicability of EBTs."

"This book sets out criteria for identifying practices and programs as evidence. The book?s detailed blueprint is based on extensive research into organizational factors (e.g., management buy-in) and external forces (e.g., funding, resources) with the most impact on the adoption of evidence-based practices, and implementation issues ranging from skill building to quality control. With this knowledge, organizations can set realistic, attainable goals and achieve treatment outcomes that reflect the evidence base."

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorders that causes a hyperglycemia. Diabetes is caused by an absolute or relative insulin deficiency or both which could lead to acute and chronic complications. A medical approach is not the only approach used in the diabetes management. A multidisciplinary approach including nursing approaches have been considered useful in managing the diseases. The implementation of the Roy?s adaptation model in the nursing care of diabetic patients is one of the examples. Utilization of results from previous studies as the basis for the practice of evidence-based nursing about insulin education showed an increasing of patients? insulin injections ability. Whilst the implementation of a nursing innovation on patient?s knowledge about diabetes self-care."

Diabetes Mellitus as a group of chronic metabolic disturbances which is identified with hyperglicemia caused by malfunction of insulin secretion or both which in long term could damages some parts of body. Diabetes Mellitus is not only managed through a medical approach. Nursing science approaches have been contributed to diabetes prevention and management. One of them is a theory of nursing based on Levine?s conservation.
Results derived from previous research on patient?s adherence to diabetes diet were utilized as basis for a practice of evidence based nursing. Nursing innovation regarding patient education on self care delivered through an audiovisual showed improvement on patient's knowledge."
