Obat hanya boleh diproduksi oleh industri farmasi yang memiliki izin industri. Industri farmasi harus memiliki izin industri dan mengimplementasikan Cara Pembuatan Obat yang Baik CPOB . Pembuktian implementasi dari CPOB ditunjukkan dengan diperolehnya sertifikat CPOB untuk industri tersebut. CPOB mengatur 12 aspek yaitu manajemen mutu, pesonalia, bangunan dan fasilitas, peralatan, sanitasi dan higiene, produksi, pengawasan mutu, inspeksi diri dan audit mutu, penanganan keluhan dan penarikan kembali produk, dokumentasi, pembuatan dan analisis berdasarkan kontrak, kualifikasi dan validasi. Sebagai bekal untuk memahami penerapan kompetensi Apoteker di industri farmasi dan aktivitas praktis profesi Apoteker di industri farmasi, maka PT Merck Tbk. memberikan kesempatan kepada calon Apoteker untuk melaksanakan Praktik Kerja Profesi Apoteker.
