One term widely heard in digital platform-based businesses, namely sharing economy, has brought new ways for people to obtain the goods or services they need. Many business platforms are successful due to the implementation of the sharing economy, which allows them to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth. Unfortunately, there is much controversy behind this success regarding the investor-owned platform and the sharing economy these platforms implement. Although there are still no clear boundaries regarding the concept of sharing economy, several actions of investor-owned platforms, which tend to be exploitative, monopolistic, and extractivist, are far from the board concept of the sharing economy and lead to platform capitalism. This study aims to explain that platform co-op—as a part of the platform cooperativism that criticizes the implementation of extractivist sharing economy by investor-owned platforms—can better show the concept of sharing economy. This study uses a qualitative method with the desk study approach, by collecting data and information through examination and analysis using secondary data derived form books, journals, articles on the internet, and websites of research institutions and related platforms. Based on the five criteria by Rachel Botsman to identify whether the sharing economy truly drives a company, platform co-op can prove their advanteges over investor owned platforms by meeting four criteria. This can be a consideration for anyone in choosing a digital platform-based business model with a fairer, democratic, and transparent system without the need to feel the negative implications of the platform capitalism system."

Howard, Billee
""In WE-Commerce, visionary marketing strategist Billee Howard lays out her plan for a new vision of success and long-term, purposeful profitability in the new global, sharing economy Today, the most successful businesses and entrepreneurs thrive through connectivity, socialization, and sharing. It is an age of WE-Commerce, an economy centered on the power of "we" instead of "me," focused on the needs of the many over the few. Booming companies such as Uber and Airbnb leverage technology to create platforms that rely largely on social media and community feedback to facilitate people's ability to collaborate with one another. Instead of traditional business strategies, companies must now inspire belief and trust in their communities; collaborate with their customers; create business models that are socially and environmentally responsible; find opportunities for creative collaboration with large, global markets; and become a new generation of innovators--"artists of business." With advice from "stay small but include all" to "profit with purpose" and "embrace disruption," Billee Howard gives readers the reinvented business toolkit that they will need to effectively collaborate, co-create, and succeed in a WE-Commerce landscape, and to acquire a new set of skills that will position them as leaders in the transformed economy"--"

With a growing number of people living in urban areas, there's an increasing need to have sustainable cities. The sharing economy has emerged in the past decade, making impacts in cities while being promoted as a way to achieve sustainable cities. By sharing a city's idle resources, the new economic model is deemed to sustain a city's economy, community, and environment. Past studies have normatively discussed the linkage between sustainability and the sharing economy as a whole. However, empirical studies on sustainability coming from certain forms of the sharing economy, particularly space sharing, are still limited. Moreover, while quantitative studies linking some forms of sharing economy with sustainability exist, such in the field of space sharing is also scarce. Filling the gaps in research, this study would like to study the impact of sharing economy on sustainability through the case of coliving that utilizes vacant apartments in Jakarta. This study will identify the sustainable values arising from coliving through in-depth interviews with tenants and operators. This study will also try to understand the extent to which the sustainability of coliving is valued."

"ABSTRACT
This research is intended to explore sharing economy, particularly ride sharing. The study aims to identify the impact of four factors -economic, social, environmental, and technological- on individuals' motivation and decision to use three ride sharing platforms: UBER, GRAB and Go-JEK in Indonesia. Based on available literature, four research hypotheses are tested, namely that (1) economic factors; (2) social factors;(3) environmental factors; and (4) technological factors have positive influence on individuals' motivation and decision to use ride sharing services. Primary and secondary data are used to answer the research questions. Primary data were obtained through an online survey of 355 respondents, while secondary data were obtained from various related literatures. The research is both descriptive and quantitative in nature, the empirical analysis suggest that economic, social, environmental, and technological factors are positively associated with users' decision to use ride sharing."

ABSTRACT
This study examines sharing economy business model in GO-FOOD service. The service has transformed the process of buying and selling food into a modern way by ordering and delivering via application. Transactions that have emerged in GO-FOOD require more than two economic actors, the role of drivers as intermediaries from merchant to customer. This study presents the importance of social relations between merchant and driver as third party in building trust in this economic activity. By using an ethnographic approach, this study analyzes the interactions between them in responding the dynamic changes on GO-FOOD service. Economic activities that occurred in the reality of social relation between driver and merchant, shows that there are some considerations of non-economic aspects in determining their economic actions. This phenomenon has been defined by Granovetter (1985) as social embeddedness, an economic action which is attached to the social relationship that occured between the economic actors."
