Pimlott, Mark
"The idea of this new publication by Mark Pimlott originates from a series of lectures given to students of the course 'The Architecture of the Interior' at Delft University of Technology. As the public interior dominates the experience of public environments in our time -- realms currently dominated by infrastructure or commercial interests -- its consideration is essential for all those involved in their making and use. The public interior, as a place in the world for people to be themselves with others, has been designed, and is thus inscribed within culture and its ideas. It seems very important to attend to and discuss these ideas of the public interior -- congruous with those of architecture -- as they have been embodied within it, across time and function. 'The Public Interior as Idea and Project' is a follow up of 'Without and Within: essays on territory and the interior"

Time plays a crucial part in the transformation of something the change, or the development of something. Comprehending the significance of change in architecture and interior are needed in order to have a better understanding of a buildings identity, because without proper understanding of the change over a building, that presumed building ceases to have its identity. This thesis discusses the mechanism of interpreting change diachronically."

Research and Production Management of Ventilator Transport Covent 20 Project: From Idea to CommercializationA ventilator is a medical device that gives air flow (ventilation) and controls a patient’s breathing pattern based on a pneumatic system. The device was invented during the covid-19 pandemic in 2020 named COVENT-20 (Covid Ventilator 2020). This device is designed to be easy to transport and suitable for emergencies. The advantages of COVENT-20 is that it has two operation mode: (1) CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), which works during the patient’s conscious state, supporting the lungs’ oxygenation, and (2) CMV (continuous mandatory ventilation) which works during the patient’s unconscious or difficult to breathe state and control the breathing function system. Both modes can be used at home or during mobility (in an ambulance) but not in the isolation room. The research team and developer of Ventilator UI, which I lead, are a collaboration of the researcher at the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) and Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia (FKUI), Cipto Mangunkusuomo National Central General Hospital (RSCM), Persahabatan Central General Hospital (RSUP), Electromedical Engineering Study Program of Politeknik Kesehatan Kementerian Kesehatan Jakarta II, and Alumni association of FTUI (ILUNI FTUI). The product testing phase of COVENT-20 is done in the Hall of Health Facility Security (BPFK) Jakarta, Directorate General of Health Service, Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia, and is stated to pass the product testing on 4th Mei 2020 with the Product Testing Report number YK.01.03/XLVIII.2/1312/2020. The clinical testing for COVENT-20 is done and stated to pass the test from the Directorate General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices, Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia on 19th June 2020 with Distribution Permit number KEMENKES RI AKD 20403021003. In the donation phase, 300 COVENT-20s are produced by several collaborators for medical device producers consisting of PT Enesers Mitra Berkah, PT Graha Teknomedika, and PT PINDAD and calibrated by several collaborators of Medical Device Calibration Companies. The crowdfunding is done under the coordination of ILUNI FTUI, followed by distribution and supervision to many designated hospitals in Indonesia from Aceh to Papua. The long road to the commercialization phase started with UI regulations and rules adjustment. Supported by the Directorate of Innovation and Business Incubator Universitas Indonesia (DISTP UI), now the COVENT-20 has been commercialized by CV. Bartec Utama Mandiri and successfully included in the Medical Devices E-Catalog Republic of Indonesia so that the device can be used widely by society."
