"ABSTRAKStudi ini adalah bagian dari studi terjemahan yang berfokus pada permainan kata, lebih khusus lagi, terjemahan aliterasi, yang merupakan bagian dari perangkat retoris. Hal ini bertujuan untuk memberikan perbaikan dalam studi terjemahan, khususnya, dalam menerjemahkan aliterasi yang membutuhkan beberapa strategi yang harus dilakukan. Penelitian ini menganalisis terjemahan aliterasi pada judul buku dengan karakter Tuan Lockhart yang disebutkan dalam Harry Potter dan Kamar Rahasia HPKR karya J.K. Rowling. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk menyelidiki pendekatan yang diterapkan oleh penerjemah bahasa Indonesia dalam menerjemahkan aliterasi di HPKR dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Ada delapan sampel yang mengandung aliterasi yang dianalisis dari dalam penelitian ini. Ditemukan bahwa tujuh sampel mengandung nama makhluk mitos sebagai kata benda yang tepat dipasangkan dengan kata benda atau gerund. Terjemahan permainan kata terutama dalam hal aliterasi adalah mungkin untuk dicapai meskipun ada tantangannya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa permainan kata dalam sampel diterjemahkan ke dalam perangkat retoris yang terkait dan tidak ada konsistensi dalam hal pengasingan dan domestikasi.

ABSTRACTThis study is part of translation studies that focuses on wordplay, more specifically, translation of alliteration, which is a part of rhetorical devices. It aims to give improvement in the translation studies, particularly, in translating alliteration which required several strategies to be done. This research analyzes the translation of alliteration on the titles of the books by the character of Mr. Lockhart that are being mentioned in J.K.Rowling rsquo;s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets HPCS . This study tries to investigate the approach applied by the Indonesian translator in translating the alliteration in HPCS by using qualitative research method. There are eight samples that contain alliteration being analyzed from in this study. It is found that seven of the samples contain the names of mythical creatures as proper nouns paired with nouns or gerunds. The result shows that the samples translate the wordplay into related rhetorical device and there is no consistency in terms of foreignization and domestication approach by the translator."

"Penelitian ini membahas salah satu fenomena diskriminasi berbasis ras, yaitu rasisme simbolik modern sebagai praktik yang tercermin melalui novel fantasi remaja terkenal Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets karya J.K. Rowling. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan dilakukan dengan membedah teks secara komprehensif melalui metode analisis wacana kritis Theo Van Leeuwen (1996) yang berfokus pada strategi representasi aktor-aktor sosial. Dengan paradigma kritis-konstruktivis, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: praktik rasisme simbolik modern yang dikonstruksi melalui cerita dipraktikkan melalui berbagai strategi wacana; fenomena ini tidak dapat dilepaskan dari latar belakang dan pola pikir penulisnya; serta perlu adanya sensitivitas pembaca terhadap konsumsi bacaan sehingga internalisasi gagasan yang bersifat diskriminatif terhadap kelompok tertentu dapat dihindari.

The study focuses on a form of racial discrimination, modern-symbolic racism as practices which emerge in one of the most popular fantasy teenlit novel Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. The research uses qualitative approach by analysing text comprehensively using Theo van Leeuwen’s critical discourse analysis (1996), focusing on representation strategies towards social actors. By using critical-constructivism paradigm, the result of study shows: modern-symbolic racism were constructed in the text in various discourse strategies; this phenomenon cannot be separated with the author’s background and ways of thinking; and people need to be more sensitive in consuming communication text (e.g. novels) in order to avoid discriminative ideas towards certain group of people.
