"ABSTRAKMeningkatnya minat untuk menjadi tenaga kerja imigran ilegal menjadi latar belakang dibuatnya film semi dokumenter Dispereert Niet. Film ini mengangkat kisah keseharian para pekerja imigran ilegal Indonesia dan bagaimana mereka bertahan hidup di Belanda. Jurnal ini membahas tentang daya tarik Belanda sehingga menjadi negara yang dituju para pekerja imigran Indonesia menurut film semi dokumenter Dispereert Niet. Selain itu, beberapa kompromi yang dilakukan para pekerja imigran Indonesia untuk bertahan hidup di Belanda juga menjadi fokus dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari analisis ini menunjukkan satu-satunya daya tarik Belanda bagi para pekerja imigran ilegal Indonesia adalah penghasilan yang mereka dapatkan bisa jauh lebih baik di Belanda tanpa memerlukan banyak syarat serta pengalaman kerja yang seimbang. Keadaan ini juga diikuti dengan besarnya kemauan para pekerja imigran Indonesia untuk memperbaiki nasib dan taraf hidup mereka. Beberapa kompromi yang dilakukan mereka untuk bertahan hidup di Belanda antara lain, rela tinggal di tempat yang tidak layak, menerima upah yang tidak sesuai dengan pekerjaannya, hidup dalam kekhawatiran karena takut ditangkap polisi, serta rela jauh dari keluarga di tanah air. Mereka tidak dapat menolak atau mengubah keadaan tersebut karena status mereka yang ilegal.

ABSTRACTThe growing interest in becoming an illegal immigrant worker became the background of the semi documentary film Dispereert Niet. The film is highlighting the daily story of Illegal Indonesian immigrant workers and how they survive in the Netherlands. This journal discusses the attractiveness of the Netherlands so that it becomes the destination country of Indonesian immigrant workers according to the semi documentary film Dispereert Niet. In addition, there are some compromises by Indonesian immigrant workers to survive in the Netherlands are also the focus of this research. The results of this analysis show that the only appeal of the Netherlands to illegal Indonesian immigrant workers is the ease of obtaining higher incomes in the Netherlands without the need for a diploma and a balanced work experience. This situation is also followed by the large willingness of Indonesian immigrant workers to improve their fate and standard of living. Some of the compromises they have made to survive in the Netherlands are willing to live in unfit places, receive unfit wages, live in anxiety for fear of being caught by the police, and willingly away from family in the country. They cannot refuse or change the circumstances because of their illegal status"

"Salah satu upaya dalam penjagaan budaya masyarakat Maluku di Belanda adalah dengan mengetahui identitas asal usulnya. Diharapkan setelah mengenali sejarah masa lalunya, masyarakat Maluku di Belanda dapat lebih berperan dalam menjaga identitas budayanya. Dari sekian banyak hasil kebudayaan masyarakat Maluku di Belanda, ada satu hal yang mungkin lebih menonjol dan dikenal oleh seluruh masyarakat di dunia yaitu klub motor Satudarah. Saat ini, ada satu karya film dokumenter yang membahas tentang kehidupan anggota klub motor Satudarah dan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sebuah pilihan untuk menambah pemahaman atas identitas kebudayaan masyarakat Maluku di Belanda. Tulisan ini membahas pemertahanan budaya masyarakat Maluku di Belanda melalui film dokumenter atudarah: One Blood. Film dokumenter ini mengobservasi etnis Maluku khususnya para pendiri dan pemimpin dari klub motor Satudarah. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengamati film tersebut. Dalam proses penelitian diimplementasikan pendekatan semiotika Peirce yaitu model segitiga makna: objek, representamen, dan interpretan. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa bentuk pemertahanan budaya orang Maluku di Belanda dapat ditemukan di dalam klub motor Satudarah ini dengan banyak sekali atribut-atribut Maluku dan perilaku kebudayaan Maluku yang dipertahankan. Bahkan kebudayaan Maluku tersebut tidak hanya dipraktekan oleh orang Maluku tetapi dilakukan juga oleh orang-orang atau anggota dari ras lain yang bukan Maluku. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa masyarakat Maluku di Belanda masih mempertahankan nilai-nilai asli Maluku yang bahkan di Kepulauan Maluku sendiri beberapa kebudayaan tersebut sudah jarang dilakukan.

One of the efforts in preserving the culture of the Maluku people in the Netherlands is to know the identity of their origin. It is hoped that after recognizing their history, the Maluku people in the Netherlands can play a more role in maintaining their cultural identity. Of the many cultural products of the Maluku people in the Netherlands, there is one thing that is perhaps more prominent and known by all people in the world, namely the Satudarah motorcycle club. Currently, a documentary film discusses the lives of members of the Satudarah motorcycle club. This is expected to be an option to increase understanding of the cultural identity of the Maluku people in the Netherlands. This paper discusses the preservation of the culture of the Maluku people in the Netherlands through the documentary film ‘Satudarah: One Blood’. This documentary observes the ethnic Moluccas, especially the founders and leaders of the Satublood motorcycle club. The analysis was carried out by observing the film. Peirce's semiotic approach is implemented in the research process, namely the triangle model of meaning: object, representamen, and interpretant. This study shows that the form of cultural preservation of the Moluccan people in the Netherlands can be found in this Satudarah motorcycle club with a lot of Maluku attributes and Maluku cultural behavior being maintained. Even the Maluku culture is practiced by the Moluccans and by people or members of other races who are not Moluccans. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the Moluccan community in the Netherlands still maintains the original values of the Moluccas, which even in the Maluku Islands itself is rarely practiced."

"Penelusuran terhadap sejarah masa lalu terkait dengan identitas menjadi penting untuk diketahui orang Indo dalam kaitannya dengan penjagaan budaya. Dengan mengetahui asal-usul mereka, orang Indo dapat lebih berperan dalam menjaga identitas budayanya. Saat ini, karya film yang membahas kehidupan orang Indo dapat menjadi pilihan untuk menambah pemahaman atas identitas Indo. Tulisan ini membahas identitas budaya Indo lintas generasi yang dihadirkan pada serial dokumenter I.N.D.O. Serial tersebut merupakan sebuah dokumenter yang mengobservasi etnis Indo dari masing-masing generasi. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengamati 3 episode dari seri 1 (2015). Penelitian ini mencerna diksi, gambar, serta elemen suara yang dihadirkan pada serial dokumenter untuk menemukan makna yang terkandung di dalamnya. Dalam proses analisis, diimplementasikan pendekatan identitas budaya (Hall, 1996). Dari hasil analisis, ditemukan penanda identitas Indo dihadirkan melalui narasi yang dibangun orang Indo tentang praktik keseharian serta kisah masa lalunya. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan penanda identitas Indo generasi ke-1 bersifat lebih komunal dibandingkan generasi ke-2 dan ke-3. Hal ini disebabkan Indo generasi ke-1 memiliki keterkaitan pada konteks ruang dan memori.

A search of past history related to identity is important for Indo people in relation to cultural preservation. By knowing their origins, Indo people can play a greater role in maintaining their cultural identity. Nowadays, films that discuss the lives of Indo people can be an option to increase understanding of Indo identity. This paper discusses cross-generation Indo cultural identities presented in the documentary series I.N.D.O. The series is a documentary that observes the ethnic Indo of each generation. Analysis was done by observing 3 episodes from series 1 (2015).

This research focused on diction, pictures, and sound elements that were presented in the documentary series to find the meaning contained in them. In the process of analysis, an approach of cultural identity is implemented (Hall, 1996). From the results of the analysis, it was found that the Indo identity markers were presented through narratives built by Indo people about their daily practices and past stories. The results of this study also show that the 1st generation Indo identity markers are more communal than the 2nd and 3rd generation. The reason is that the 1st generation Indo has a connection in the context of space and memory."

"Disertasi ini membahas representasi imigran oleh Uni Eropa di booklet Festival Film Europe on Screen Indonesia. Data diambil dari lima booklet festival dari tahun 2008 hingga 2011. Tujuannya adalah untuk melihat bagaimana imigran dalam masyarakat multikultur UE direpresentasikan kepada Indonesia dan apakah latar belakang ideologinya. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan teori sirkuit budaya sebagai kerangka teori dan representasi konstruksionis dengan semiotik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pola dan ideologi orientalis kepada Indonesia pada data penelitian.

This dissertation discusses immigrant representation by the European Union in Indonesian Europe on screen Film Festival booklets. Data are obtained from five booklets from 2008 until 2011. The goal is to see how immigrants in European Union multicultural society are represented to Indonesia and to discover the ideological background of the representation. This research adopts circuit of culture the grand theory, with constructive representation approach, using semiotic method. Research results arising from data analysis suggest a pattern of orientalist ideology towards Indonesia found on the research data verified."

"Permasalahan kondisi masyarakat sebagai potret sosial bukan lagi hal yang asing untuk diangkat dalam bentuk film. Gambaran banlieue sebagai aspek yang berkaitan dengan isu sosial di Prancis sudah menjadi potret sosial, seperti permasalahan yang terjadi di kelompok imigran. Pada perkembangannya, film Prancis banyak mengambil isu-isu mengenai imigran, terutama imigran kulit hitam. Film Banlieusards: Street Flow (2019) karya Leïla Sy dan Kery James mengisahkan tiga bersaudara dari Senegal yang tinggal di banlieue wilayah Paris dengan konflik dan permasalahan rasial yang terjadi di dalamnya. Berdasarkan paparan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperlihatkan usaha tokoh melawan stigma dan bentuk tindakan rasisme imigran kulit hitam yang dihadirkan dalam film. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan struktur naratif dan sinematografis Boggs dan Pettrie untuk kajian film, teori interaksi simbolik George Herbert Mead untuk menganalisis konsep rasisme, serta teori stigmatisasi Erving Goffman untuk menganalisis konsep stigma pada film. Hasil dari analisis, ditemukan bahwa rasisme dan stigma negatif terhadap tokoh Soulaymaan, Demba, dan Noumouké dapat dilakukan oleh siapa pun tanpa memandang status dan kedudukan yang bisa mengarah pada tindakan diskriminasi. Stigma negatif dan tindakan rasisme yang Soulaymaan, Demba, dan Noumouké dapatkan sebagai imigran kulit hitam pada film Banlieusards dapat didobrak dan dibantah dengan prestasi tanpa harus mengubah budaya asli asalnya dan tradisi.

The issue of the condition of society as a social portrait is no longer a strange thing to be raised in the form of a film. The image of banlieue as an aspect related to social issues in France has become a social portrait, such as the problems that occur in immigrant groups. In its development, many French films took issues about immigrants, especially black immigrants. The film Banlieusards: Street Flow (2019) by Leïla Sy and Kery James tells the story of three brothers from Senegal who live in the banlieue area of ​​Paris with conflicts and racial problems that occur in them. Based on this explanation, this study aims to show the character's efforts to fight the stigma and forms of racism of black immigrants that are presented in the film. This study uses a qualitative method by using Boggs and Pettrie's narrative and cinematographic structure for film studies, George Herbert Mead's symbolic interaction theory to analyze the concept of racism, and Erving Goffman's stigmatization theory to analyze the concept of stigma in films. The results of the analysis, it was found that racism and negative stigma against the characters Soulaymaan, Demba, and Noumouké can be done by anyone regardless of status and position which can lead to acts of discrimination. The negative stigma and acts of racism that Soulaymaan, Demba, and Noumouké get as black immigrants in the film Banlieusards can be broken and refuted with achievements without having to change their native culture and traditions."

"ABSTRAKEtika seringkali menjadi masalah yang membentur pembuat film dokumenter. Dilema terjadi antara mana yang harus atau tidak harus dimasukkan ke dalam film, hingga perlakuan sang sutradara terhadap narasumber dokumenternya. Salah satu kasus yang cukup ramai di tahun 2012 adalah pengakuan dari Anwar Congo, tokoh utama di film The Act of Killing, bahwa Ia merasa ditipu dan menganggap film yang dibuat oleh Joshua Oppenheimer tentangnya lebih banyak merugikan dirinya. Sehingga terlihat bahwa ada indikasi pelanggaran etika di dalam film ini.Namun pendapat lain akan muncul ketika membawa perspektif utilitarianisme dalam keputusan Joshua untuk membuat film The Act of Killing, bukan untuk menyulut kemarahan orang Indonesia atau untuk membuka apa yang sering disebut luka lama, melainkan mencoba menyelesaikan perihal masalah sejarah yang tidak diceritakan secara lengkap atau perihal penindasan terhadap kelompok tertentu yang masih meninggalkan luka hingga sekarang.Analisis etika yang dilakukan ingin melihat apakah terbukti The Act of Killing sebagai film dokumenter melanggar beberapa nilai etika film dokumenter dan kemudian melihat etika tersebut dalam perspektif utilitarianisme, apakah tak apa melanggar etika jika untuk sesuatu yang lebih besar dan bermanfaat bagi banyak orang.ABSTRACT

Ethics often become a problem that afflicts documentary filmmaker. The Dilemma of ethics occurs between what are should or should not be included in the film, to how the director treats the sources. One significant case on this subject appears in 2012, when Anwar Congo, the main cast of The Act of Killing, confesses that he felt cheated and considers that the film made by Joshua Oppenheimer about him brings notoriety. Thus, it is apparent that there are indications of a violation of ethics in The Act of Killing movie.However, another opinion will arise when viewing Joshua rsquo s decision to make The Act of Killing from the perspective of utilitarianism. The film is not intended to ignite the anger of Indonesian people or to open the lsquo old wounds rsquo , but rather trying to resolve the subject matter of history that was not told in full package, or about oppression against certain groups that still left them traumatized.The analysis wanted to see the proof that there are some violations of documentary ethical values in The Act of Killing and then look at the ethics from the perspective of utilitarianism, does it still violate ethics when it brings something more substantial and beneficial for many people."

"Sebuah film berjudul "Joy" yang disutradarai oleh Sudabeh Mortezai merupakan film drama Austria yang menceritakan isu prostitusi oleh imigran gelap dari Nigeria dengan menampilkan ruang sosial kota Wina, Austria. Kajian ini menggunakan konsep ruang sosial, arena, modal, dan habitus dari Pierre Bourdieu serta keberadaan uang sebagai budaya objektif yang mendominasi masyarakat perkotaan oleh Georg Simmel. Analisis tersebut membahas bagaimana ruang sosial kota Wina pada abad ke-20 ditampilkan melalui praktek prostitusi oleh para imigran gelap. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan praktik prostitusi yang terjadi di Kota Wina didalangi oleh beberapa kelompok. Kelompok-kelompok ini memegang peran utama sebagai agen yang posisinya didukung oleh modal dan peranannya yang sesuai dengan dinamika yang terjadi dalam ruang sosial.

A film titled "Joy" directed by Sudabeh Mortezai is an Austrian drama film that tells the issue of prostitution by illegal immigrants from Nigeria by showing the social space of the city of Vienna, Austria. This study uses the concepts of social space, arena, capital, and habitus from Pierre Bourdieu and the existence of money as an objective culture that dominates urban society by Georg Simmel. The analysis discusses how the social space of the city of Vienna in the 20th century was presented through the practice of prostitution by illegal immigrants. This study concludes that the practice of prostitution that occurs in the City of Vienna is masterminded by several groups. These groups play the main role as agents whose positions are supported by capital and their roles are in accordance with the dynamics that occur in the social space."

"Pada tahun 2016, kasus kopi sianida mendapatkan perhatian luas hingga ke kancah internasionalyang kemudian diangkat menjadi film dokumenter oleh Netflix dengan judul Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso. Film ini mempertanyakan proses pidana yang telah selesai berjalan. Persepsi baru yang berbeda dari wacana dominan masa lalu pun mulai bermunculan hingga menimbulkan pertanyaan besar dari publik terkait kebenaran kasus dan keadilan untuk Jessica. Penulisan ini berfokus pada reaksi sosial nonformal (kaji ulang masyarakat) terhadap reaksi sosial (film dokumenter). Film dokumenter ini memicu reaksi sosial nonformal dalam bentuk video pada media baru, seperti YouTube. Unit analisis tulisan ini adalah narasi dari beberapa video konten buatan pengguna yang mengulas film Ice Cold pada media sosial YouTube. Narasi-narasi tersebut dianalisis menggunakan konsep encoding dan decoding dari Stuart Hall, dilengkapi dengan analisis pembingkaian narasi (pembingkaian semantik, kognitif, dan komunikatif). Perspektif yang digunakan untuk mencermati konteks ini adalah kriminologi budaya. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa narasi film dokumenter Ice Cold dapat diterima dengan baik oleh penonton dengan posisi dominan dan negosiasi. Dari reaksi penonton, terlihat kepanikan moral terhadap sistem peradilan pidana, dengan pandangan bahwa Jessica tidak bersalah sehingga terjadi demonisasi terhadap pihak Mirna sebagai setan rakyat yang baru.

In 2016, the cyanide coffee case received widespread international attention and was later made into a documentary by Netflix titled "Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso." This film questions the completed criminal process. New perceptions that differ from the dominant discourse of the past began to emerge, raising significant public questions regarding the truth of the case and justice for Jessica. This paper focuses on non-formal social reactions (public reviews) to social reactions (the documentary film). The documentary triggers informal social reactions in the form of videos on new media platforms, such as YouTube. The unit of analysis in this paper is the narratives of several user-generated video contents that review the documentary "Ice Cold" on YouTube. The narratives are analyzed using Stuart Hall's concept of encoding and decoding, complemented by narrative framing analysis (semantic, cognitive, and communicative framing). The perspective used to examine this context is cultural criminology. The results of the analysis show that the narrative of the documentary "Ice Cold" can be well received by audiences with dominant and negotiated positions. From the audience's reaction, there is a moral panic towards the criminal justice system, viewing Jessica as innocent and resulting in the demonization of Mirna's side as the new folk devil."
