"ABSTRAKPenggambaran seseorang dengan disabilitas di produksi film Holywood selalu bermasalah karena sering kali mereka digambarkan sebagai seseorang yang lemah dan tidak berdaya. Pada artikel ini, penulis membahas tentang masalah agensi untuk penyandang disabilitas di film, Me Before You 2016 khususnya pada hubungan antara tindakan bunuh diri dan agensi yang dicontohkan oleh tokoh utama yaitu Will Traynor. Jika bunuh diri selalu dilihat sebagai tindakan menyerah dan pertanda ketidakberdayaan, berdasarkan analisis pada unsur sinematik, penulis berpendapat bahwa bunuh diri di film dapat dipahami sebagai bentuk agensi yang dimiliki oleh tokoh utama sebagai hasil negosiasi dengan diri dan sekitarnya.

ABSTRACTRepresentation of persons with disability in Hollywood movies have always been problematic, as most of the time they are portrayed to be vulnerable and powerless. In this article, the author examines issues of agency for persons with disability in the movie Me Before You 2016 in particular the relationship between the act of suicide and agency exemplified by the main character Will Traynor. If suicide has always been seen as an act of surrender and a sign of helplessness, based on analysis of cinematic elements the author argues that suicide in the movie can be understood as a form of agency possessed by the main character as a result of negotiation with the self and surroundings. "

"Makalah ini meneliti efek dari rumah tangga yang berantakan terhadap seorang remaja di dalam film Catch Me If You Can(2002), sebuah film karya Steven Spielberg. Cerita ini berdasarkan kisah nyata yang terjadi pada sekitar tahun 1960. Film ini menceritakan tentang seorang penipu muda yang berhasil mencairkan dana hampir sebesar empat juta dolar dengan cek palsu. Alasan mengapa dia menjadi seorang penipu adalah kunci utama analisis makalah ini. Diasumsikan bahwa dia terpengaruh oleh keadaan rumah tangganya yang berantakan. Makalah ini menyimpulkan bahwa rumah tangga yang berantakan menyebabkan efek negatif terhadap anak.

This paper examines the effect of broken family to a teenager in Catch Me If You Can movie (2002), a film by Steven Spielberg. The plot is based on true story which took place around 1960s. It is a story of a young conman who successfully cashed almost $4 million dollar in fraudulent checks. Why he became a conman is the main key of this paper's analysis. It is assumed that he was influenced by his broken family. To be able to fulfill this objective, review on previous researches has been done. This paper concludes that broken family cause a negative impact to the children."
