"Catamaran resistance is very complex compared to monohull resistance, so it is particularly worthy of research. The below-water-level hull form influences the fluid flow characteristics around the ship, which either increases or decreases the total resistance. This study focuses on developing a new hull form by using the Lackenby Method to modify an existing hull form in such a way that reduces the total resistance. The total resistance was calculated using computational fluid dynamics, since the Navier-Stokes equation is built into the Tdyn software.
The research results show that hull form changes can in fact decrease or increase the ship?s total resistance. The best new hull form was chosen for its value of least total resistance.

"Ballast is one of the
main structures for the railway tracks. It can resist the lateral movement
under dynamic loading transferred by the passing trains with repeatedly. Under
some circumstances, ballast can suffer degradation or breakdown due to the
repeated loading and maintenance. Ballast is easily exposed to the weather
because it is laid on the track. Acid rain affects the performance of the
railway track near the industrial and urban
area. As a result, it starts to foul and the small chips from ballast filled
the void, as well as reduce the shear strength of ballast particles. This
situation can contribute into the increasing of maintenance frequency and
costing. This paper examines the potential of rubber inclusions in increasing
the shear resistance of rubber-ballast composites in simulated water and acid soaked
conditions with several configuration. This lab-based exploratory work is only static load simulation in conventional shear box
setup measuring 60 mm × 60 mm.
The aggregates size is 10 times smaller than actual size of ballast. In order
to identify the shear resistance deterioration of rubber-aggregates mixture
under poor drainage conditions by soaked a batch of aggregates in water and
acid solution for 2 weeks to simulate accelerated weathering effects. The shear
resistance did not rise dramatically with the rubber reinforcement. This
susceptible shear strain plots indicate ductile behaviour on the
aggregates-rubber composites. This is evident by the linear rise of shear
stress with strain up to approximately 10% for the control samples (CS) until
it reaches a constant value. Note that all the specimens including CS are in a
loose state during the testing because there were no tamping been applied on
the samples. Overall the circular patch (CP) specimen was the most favourable
than the other configurations. Both mechanisms contributed to the reduced
overall subsistence, accompanied by an increase in the shear resistance. The
inclusion of rubber elements apparently prevented the dilation of the granular
material when approaching the shear failure and the reducing the settlement."

"The relative significance of
the parallel middle body and stern form in the wake formation of single-screw
large ships and their contribution to the ship?s viscous resistance are studied by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A
10450-DWT tanker is considered by varying the ratio of the
parallel-middle-body?s length to the ship?s length (Lmb/L) and by varying the shape of the stern form from a
V-like to a U-like underwater stern transom section. In all the calculations,
the principal dimension and the displacement of the ships are kept constant. A
larger value for the parallel-middle-body relative length (Lmb/L) of ships with the same stern form results in a
larger drag coefficient but does not affect the nominal wake fraction
significantly. A change in the shape of the underwater stern form,
from a V-like to a U-like section, results in a much larger drag coefficient
ascribed to the much larger wake fraction. The stern form dominantly affects
the nominal wake fraction and the ship?s viscous resistance compared to the
parallel-middle-body relative length."

"Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat pengaruh El Nino 1997 terhadap variabilitas ozon total Indonesia 1997-2005. Data ozon global dari TOMS (Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer) Satelit NASA pada rentang tahun 1997-2005 diekstrak untuk wilayah Indonesia (90W-150E, 12.5S-12.5N). Hasil plot deret waktu menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi ozon total rata-rata bulanan bervariasi antara 242 hingga 275.38 (Dobson Units). Konsentrasi tertinggi terjadi pada Bulan September-Oktober dan terendah terjadi pada Bulan Desember-Januari. Konsentrasi ozon total di Indonesia meningkat pada saat terjadi El Nino kuat, yakni mencapai 275.38 DU. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa pada tahun terjadi El Nino lemah, yakni tahun 2002 dan 2004, konsentrasi ozon juga meningkat pada Bulan September yakni berturut-turut 271.40 dan 274.64 DU. Pada tahun-tahun tidak terjadi El Nino, yaitu 2001, 2003, 2005, konsentrasi ozon tertinggi berturut-turut pada September adalah: 270.06, 268.14, 262.68 DU. Wilayah di Indonesia yang dipengaruhi El Nino kuat selama September- Oktober 1997 adalah Halmahera, Sulawesi Utara, dan Papua Utara dengan konsentrasi ozon sebesar 282-294 DU. Pada wilayah lainnya konsentrasi juga meningkat menjadi 286-290 DU, yaitu Sulawesi Utara, Sulawesi Tengah, Maluku."

"Cosmic rays is energetic particles from space. These particles to the lower atmosphere and influence the earth's global electricity and magnetism. Cloud forming can be accelerated by the electricity and cloud thermodynamic. These basic knowledge are used in making correlation analysis between cosmic ray and total cloud/upper cloud cover in the region of Indonesia in the period 1979 to 1995. The analysis of the correlations in this report including total correlation, annual correlation, and the correlation in maximum and minimum solar cycle.

"Resistance or drag is one of the most important factors in ship design, in particular in connection with the development of more efficient and environmentally friendly vessels. The shape of the hull under water will affect the fluid flow characteristics around the ship, hence causing the resistance to increase or decrease. If the resistance increases, the size of main engine and subsequently, the fuel consumption increases accordingly and this is not often anticipated by ship designers and operators. The use of a catamaran for passenger carriers is well known and its application for fishing vessels has received serious attention in the last few years, due to its advantages to produce wider deck area and smaller size of engine at the same displacement as the monohulls. The conversion of monohull fishing vessels in Cilacap the waters into a catamaran hull is an interesting topic in association with the development of better fishing vessels in this region. The resistance investigation of the conversion vessel was carried out by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) approach and this is combined with classical slender body theory. In terms of mathematical calculation, the results between CFD and the combination of empirical formulas and slender body theory shows such a good agreement and the difference between the two is less than 5%. In terms of naval architecture, the results showed that the modification of a monohull vessel into a catamaran can increase the payload capacity up to two times. Conversely, this causes the resistance to increase about almost four times and this is certainly unpopular for the fishermen."

"Iptek bagi Masyarakat ini dilakukan pada KWT Rindu Alam dan KWT Suka Tani di Desa Barengkok Kecamatan Leuwiliang Bogor, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan ketrampilan dalam memanfaatkan kulit manggis, sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan petani manggis. Metode Pelaksanaan Kegiatan menggunakan metode Penyuluhan, Pelatihan dan Pendampingan dengan tahapan kegiatan : 1) Memberikan penyuluhan khasiat kulit manggis secara umum, 2) Pelatihan Proses Pembuatan Ekstrak Kulit Manggis sesuai (SNI 06-1842-1995), 3) Pelatihan Pembuatan Ekstrak Kulit Manggis dengan cara destilasi di Laboratorium, dan dengan cara metode penyederhanaan, 4) Pelatihan Proses Pembuatan Larutan Pembersih Lantai, 5) Penyuluhan Teknik Pengemasan, 6) Pelatihan Analisa Usaha dan Menetapkan Harga Pokok, 7) Penyuluhan Strategi Pemasaran, 8) Pendampingan membuat produk serta memasarkan secara mandiri. Luaran IbM ini adalah produk pembersih lantai dengan bahan aktif dari ekstrak kulit manggis dengan spesifikasi sesuai SNI 06-1842-1995. Hasil kegiatan IbM ini dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan ketrampilan wanita tani dalam mengolah kulit manggis. Mereka mampu membuat ekstrak dan produksi cairan pembersih lantai secara mandiri, dengan kapasitas produksi dalam dua minggu menghasilkan 120 botol kemasan 250 ml atau 240 botol per bulan, sehingga target kemampuan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan petani manggis Desa Barengkok telah tercapai."

"Total Quality Management (TQM) menjadi relevan karena wujud pendidikan tinggi sebagai sebuah perangkat yang didasarkan pada penciptaan dan penyebaran pengetahuan dan pemahaman memang disinyalir mengalami kemerosotan mutu. Perbaikan mutu merupakan salah satu komitmen pemerintah di sektor pendidikan. Sistem akreditasi program studi yang dilakukan oleh Badan Akreditasi Nasional (BAN) dan sistim pengawasan yang dilakukan oleh Inspektorat Jenderal (Itjen), Badan Pengawasan Keuangan dan Pembangunan (BPKP), dan Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan (BPK), yang memfokuskan pada pengawasan fungsional, terasa kurang tepat untuk dijadikan jaminan bahwa perguruan tinggi sudah memberikan pendidikan yang bermutu bagi mahasiswanya. Total Quality Management (TQM) didefinisikan sebagai konsep perbaikan yang dilakukan secara terus menerus, yang melibatkan semua karyawan di setiap level organisasi, untuk mencapai kualitas yang ‘exellent’ dalam semua aspek organisasi melalui proses manajemen. Dalam rangka usaha perbaikan mutu, evaluasi program yang dilakukan sudah mencakup evaluasi terhadap tujuan-tujuan dari universitas atau tridarma perguruan tinggi. Akan tetapi, sampai sejauh ini, belum bisa disimpulkan bagaimana pencapaian mutu suatu universitas atau mutu sistim pendidikan tinggi secara keseluruhan. Hal ini diduga antara lain karena praktek-praktek TQM yang ada saat ini belum dikembangkan dengan optimal. Alasan lainnya adalah karena prinsip-prinsip TQM yang lain, yaitu penilaian tentang pencapaian mutu tidak dilakukan. Untuk itu diperlukan kajian ulang sasaran-sasaran mutu universitas, komitmen yang kuat tentang pencapaian mutu dalam renstra setiap universitas dan diselenggarakan quality audit secara rutin untuk menjamin terselenggaranya pendidikan yang bermutu."
