"Saat ini penggunaan satelit sebagai media transmisi pengiriman video dan audio berada pada puncaknya. Kapasitas transponder C band di Palapa C2 sudah mencapai 95 persen dengan pelanggan meliputi perusahaan telekomunikasi dan broadcaster Dan hampir seluruh stasiun televisi di tanah air menggunakan satelit Palapa C2. Penuhnya transponder C band ini sangat berbeda dengan kondisi transponder Ku Band yang baru terisi kurang dari 50 persen jumlah kapasitas maksimumnya. Padahal dari segi power dan bandwidth, transponder ini lebih unggul dibanding transponder C band. Tugas akhir ini mencoba mengukur dan menganalisa kemampuan sistem SNG dengan antena flyaway 1,8 meter dan antena penerima gain menengah berdiameter 3,8 meter untuk melakukan transmisi ke transponder Ku Band, dengan tujuan mampu memperoleh kualitas BER 10 pangkat -4 dengan Eb/No 4,6 dB. Hasil minimum tersebut dapat dipenuhi saat cuaca mendung tebal dengan power pancar 200 watt. Dan hasil maksimal diperoleh pada cuaca cerah dengan Eb/No hingga 12,09 dB dan BER 10 pangkat -7 pada power 100 watt."
