ABSTRACTASEAN leaders proclaimed to create an ASEAN Economic Community by 2015. But achieving the target requires cooperation and coordination both within and among the ten ASEAN economies. Currently, with countries having varying considerations towards complete liberalization, protectionism still persists in certain sectors of the economies. A lot of work needs to be done in addressing the domestic reforms, the gaps in infrastructure, the lack of human resources and adequate institutions. Moreover, it is the businesses whose decisions and actions will help the region to achieve an effective integration. The policymakers have vital roles to play in raising the engagement of the private businesses in ASEAN matters. As time is limited, one way for ASEAN is to focus on "core" elements of integration and implement them earnestly in the shortest possible time. The rest of the process, as envisaged in the AEC Blueprint, can follow beyond 2015. This book examines the state of readiness of the member countries for regional integration and discusses the challenges to ASEAN businesses. It gives policy recommendations to address some of the issues faced by the key stakeholders. "

"Dengan diberlakukannya ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) pada tanggal 31 Desember 2015 membuat perdagangan internasional antar negara ASEAN menjadi tidak ada hambatan. Untuk dapat meningkatkan pangsa pasar ekspor dan mempertahankan pasar dalam negeri khususnya pada sektor industri elektronika agar industri elektronika lokal dapat tumbuh maka diperlukan kebijakan industri untuk menjaga iklim usaha nasional. Oleh karena itu diperlukan peta daya saing masing-masing negara ASEAN. Dalam penelitian ini akan digunakan empat metode pengukuran daya saing industri yaitu Trade Specialization Index (TSI), Acceleration Ratio (AR), Market Share (MS), dan Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). Penelitian ini menghasilkan peta daya saing industri produk elektronika dan posisi industri elektronika indonesia dengan negara-negara ASEAN lainnya.

With the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) on December 31, 2015 make international trade among ASEAN countries will be no tariff barriers. To be able to increase exports and maintain market share in the domestic market, especially in the sectors of the electronics industry that the local electronics industry can grow, industrial policy is needed to keep the national business climate. Therefore we need a map of the competitiveness of each ASEAN country.

In this study will be used four methods of measuring the competitiveness of the industry, namely Trade Specialization Index (TSI), Acceleration Ratio (AR), Market Share (MS), and the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). This research produced a map of the competitiveness products of industrial electronics and Indonesian electronics industry position with other ASEAN countries."

"Pariwisata telah menjadi sektor penting dalam perekonomian selama beberapa dekade terakhir, namun dampak pariwisata terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi masih diperdebatkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti hubungan jangka panjang antara pariwisata dan pertumbuhan ekonomi di negara-negara ASEAN serta hubungan sebab akibat di antara keduanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (panel ARDL) dan data dari World Tourism Organization dan World Development Indicator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pariwisata memiliki dampak yang signifikan dan positif terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi dalam jangka panjang. Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kausalitas dua arah antara pariwisata inbound dan pertumbuhan ekonomi.

Tourism has become an important sector in the economy over recent decades, but the impact of tourism on economic growth is still debated. The purpose of this paper is to investigates the long-run relationship between tourism and economic growth in ASEAN countries as well as the causal linkages between them. This study uses panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (panel ARDL) and data from the World Tourism Organization and the World Development Indicator. The results suggest that tourism has significant and positive impact on economic growth in the long run, supporting the tourism-led growth hypothesis. Furthermore, the results also indicate that there is bidirectional causality between inbound tourism and economic growth."
