"We investigate the impact of the presence of women in top management on bank performance
controlling for bank specific factors, ownership and governance. By making use of sample of 70 Indonesian
banks in a cross section study, we find strong evidence that the presence of women in the
executives is negatively associated with firm performance. Moreover, we examine the moderating
effect of TMT organizational tenure and TMT age. However, only little evidence is found in the effect
of our moderating variables."

"This paper empirically examines the effect of banks' revenue diversification on the stock-based
return and risk measures using data on the ASEAN-5, and addition from China, Japan, and South
Korea banking sector. This paper use panel Fixed Effect and robustness test with Random Effect and
TSLS. We use non-interest income share as a measure for revenue diversification. We find that revenue
diversification has no effect on bank’s market value but significantly decrease bank total risks. Whennon-
interest income is decomposed, we find that fee-income business has significant positive effect on
bank value. Furthermore, it’s important to see characteristic of banks that practice diversification,
such as bank size and capital. Overall, we provide evidence that banks, especially larger oneswith
good condition on capital, could increase their value and lower their risk by diversifying non-interest
income, especially with fee income as well as other types of non-interest income."

"This paper examines market efficiency of foreign exchange markets in South East Asia (Indonesia,
Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Philippines) after the global crisis period 2008. The time span
covered by the samples are from 2009 to 2014, with the total number of observations for spot and forward
exchange rate data amounting to 1565 data points. This study uses three different approaches
to examine efficiency within countries and across countries. The result of this study shows that foreign
exchange markets in the ASEAN-5 countries are efficient within countries, but have not been efficient
across countries, especially when the country has a bivariate relationship with Thailand’s foreign
exchange market. The main implication of this study is that investors in the ASEAN-5 market cannot
obtain abnormal returns using technical analysis on within countries foreign exchange market. In
addition, there is no significant differences for participants in the foreign exchange market whether
they are using hedging or not hedging."

"This study develops a model of expropriation through real earnings management (REM) in the
Indonesian Islamic banking industry. The purpose of this study is to test a new model by examining
the relationship between REM, bank ownership types, and performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia
in the period of 2006 - 2013. This study finds that there are significant differences in REM and
performance scores in banks with different ownership types. The REM and performance scores for
family-owned banks and private-owned banks are relatively similar. However, Islamic banks with
government as the controlling shareholder have the highest REM scores and the lowest performance
scores. In contrast, foreign-owned banks have the lowest REM scores and the highest performance
scores. The indications of expropriation can be seen from the magnitude of REM. A high REM can
lower profitability and efficiency while increasing the risks faced by Islamic banks in Indonesia."

"We examine how the level deposit insurance coverage affects bank liquidity. We also test the role
of ownership in the relationship between deposit insurance coverage and bank liquidity. This study
uses quarterly data of Indonesian banks from Q1:2002 - Q2:2008. We argue that the presence of explicit
deposit insurance changes a bank‘s behavior in liquidity management in the form of decreasing
asset liquidity. We find some evidence on the negative impact of deposit insurance coverage on bank
liquidity. However, little is found on the role of ownership structure. The credibility of deposit insurance
system and implicit guarantee are the main policy implications."

Bastiat, Frederick
"Frédéric Bastiat wrote numerous essays or pamphlets which the used to promote his ideas and to combat errors. Many of his important essays or pamphlets are included in this volume. Of these, “The Law” and “What Is Seen and "What Is Not Seen” are well known; others are not so familiar. Henry Hazlitt in his Economics in One Lesson said this regarding “What Is Seen and What Is Not Seen”: “The following work may, in fact, be regarded as a modernization, extension, and generalization of the approach found in Bastiat’s pamphlet.” The Editor is responsible for the arrangement of the essays in the present volume. This translation follows as faithfully as possible the original
French standard edition of the complete works of Bastiat. Cross references have been included among the three volumes of the present translation. Three types of notes are included: Translator’s notes are directed at the general reader and are mainly about persons and terms. Editor’s notes refer to notes by the editor of the French edition; Bastiat’s notes stand without such notations. Only the Translator’s notes are at the bottom of the page; Editor’s notes and Bastiat’s notes are at the end of the volume. The latter two are more important but were put at the back to avoid cluttering the pages and to promote readability. in either economic harmonies or economic sophisms."
