Moore, Ramon E.
"This unique book provides an introduction to a subject whose use has steadily increased over the past 40 years. An update of Ramon Moore previous books on the topic, it provides broad coverage of the subject as well as the historical perspective of one of the originators of modern interval analysis. The authors provide a hands-on introduction to INTLAB, a high-quality, comprehensive MATLAB toolbox for interval computations, making this the first interval analysis book that does with INTLAB what general numerical analysis texts do with MATLAB.
Readers will find the following features of interest: elementary motivating examples and notes that help maximize the reader chance of success in applying the techniques; exercises and hands-on MATLAB-based examples woven into the text; INTLAB-based examples and explanations integrated into the text, along with a comprehensive set of exercises and solutions, and an appendix with INTLAB commands; an extensive bibliography and appendices that will continue to be valuable resources once the reader is familiar with the subject; and a Web page with links to computational tools and other resources of interest."

Social and economic changes in Indonesia show that there is a transformation in fertility behavior including the pace of having first birth. This study aims to know the role of environment wherein women growing up during their first birth interval for three cohort groups. The categories of women rsquo s birth cohort are 1961 1970 cohort group, 1971 1980 cohort group, and 1981 2005 cohort group. This study uses the 2015 Intercensal Population Survey SUPAS 2015 and the survival analysis approach with Cox proportional hazard regression model.
The results show that women in the younger cohorts have first birth earlier than the older cohorts after marriage, especially for the recent cohort. Through age at first marriage as the intermediate variable, socioeconomic variables in fertility behavior are significantly associated with the pace of having first birth in three cohort groups. Thus, the environment wherein women growing up plays a major role at the pace of having first birth through age at first marriage."

"Fractal-based methods are at the heart of modeling the behavior of phenomena at varying scales. This volume collates techniques for using IFS fractals, including the very latest cutting-edge methods, from more than 20 years of research in this area. The second chapter on basic iterated function systems theory is designed to be used as the basis for a course and includes many exercises. This chapter, along with the three background appendices on topological and metric spaces, measure theory, and basic results from set-valued analysis, make the book suitable for self-study or as a source book for a graduate course. The other chapters illustrate many extensions and applications of fractal-based methods to different areas.

"The purpose of this book is to present some basic results in analysis that can
be used to solve various problems, so it may serve as a kind of toolbox. We do
not intend to give a complete panorama of the field. In particular, we concentrate
on real analysis and leave complex analysis aside; however we consider complex
functions now and then. Although we cannot claim that this volume is devoted to
applied analysis, our choice of topics is driven by our wish to present results that
can be applied to concrete problems. It is in this sense that this book could be called
“Motivated Analysis”. This expression is due to J.-P. Aubin and means that we shall
gather some results of analysis that may be useful in applications, even if the nature
of these applications is not the focus of the text. Thus, our route is not the choice of
some important problems that occur in applications, as in [22, 62, 87, 88, 101, 129,
130, 140, 178, 191, 236, 241, 245], but neither is it the panorama of deep advances
in mathematical concepts presented in [100] and [101]."

""The objective of this book is for readers to learn where approximation methods come from, why they work, why they sometimes don?t work, and when to use which of the many techniques that are available, and to do all this in an environment that emphasizes readability and usefulness to the numerical methods novice. Each chapter and each section begins with the basic, elementary material and gradually builds up to more advanced topics. The text begins with a review of the important calculus results, and why and where these ideas play an important role throughout the book. Some of the concepts required for the study of computational mathematics are introduced, and simple approximations using Taylor?s Theorem are treated in some depth. The exposition is intended to be lively and "student friendly". Exercises run the gamut from simple hand computations that might be characterized are "starter exercises", to challenging derivations and minor proofs, to programming exercises. Eleven new exercises have been added throughout including: Basins of Attraction; Roots of Polynomials I; Radial Basis Function Interpolation; Tension Splines; An Introduction to Galerkin/Finite Element Ideas for BVPs; Broyden?s Method; Roots of Polynomials, II; Spectral/collocation methods for PDEs; Algebraic Multigrid Method; Trigonometric interpolation/Fourier analysis; and Monte Carlo methods. Various sections have been revised to reflect recent trends and updates in the field"-- Provided by publisher."

"The book presents a comprehensive exposition of extension results for maps between different geometric objects and of extension-trace results for smooth functions on subsets with no a priori differential structure (Whitney problems). The account covers development of the area from the initial classical works of the first half of the 20th century to the flourishing period of the last decade. Seemingly very specific these problems have been from the very beginning a powerful source of ideas, concepts and methods that essentially influenced and in some cases even transformed considerable areas of analysis. Aside from the material linked by the aforementioned problems the book also is unified by geometric analysis approach used in the proofs of basic results. This requires a variety of geometric tools from convex and combinatorial geometry to geometry of metric space theory to Riemannian and coarse geometry and more. The necessary facts are presented mostly with detailed proofs to make the book accessible to a wide audience.
