"This research identifies characteristics, which are the theme, idetity, functions, and authenticity of some current riverfront developments, mainly focusing in urban area. The Study began with the evolution of an urban riverfront, including understanding how early settlements were established along the river, later forming the town, leading to the present day cities and their inhernt traditional urban culture value. Case studies selected were from South East Asia within Singapore and Sarawak in Malaysia. These example will then be compared with London and Boston, USA. Much attention will be given to paying high respect to the citiescharacter and to acknowledging the historical and cultural background of the city where they are set by scrutinising their characteristics. The conclusion will be systematically analysed on design elements and careful considerations through design planning and sensitive appoaches."

"Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk membahas peran visual affordance dalam interaksi antara remaja dan lingkungan binaan mereka, khususnya dalam kaitannya dengan tempat nongkrong yang mereka sukai. Pertanyaan tentang faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keterbacaan visual affordance dan bagaimana faktor-faktor ini memengaruhi keputusan remaja tentang tempat bersosialisasi di lingkungan binaan diangkat sepanjang diskusi. Pembahasan difokuskan untuk mengkaji bagaimana remaja memproses informasi berbasis visual dari lingkungannya dalam hal persepsi visual, properti visual, pengalaman estetika, dan interactive affordance. Dalam hal ini, pembahasannya dijabarkan lebih lanjut dengan studi kasus TOD Dukuh Atas, karena dapat dilihat sebagai tempat yang sifat visualnya menarik banyak remaja untuk datang. Studi ini kemudian mengarah pada pemahaman terhadap keakraban kehadiran pengaturan dalam konstruksi elemen visual yang meningkatkan keterbacaan visual affordance. Memahami visual affordance dan remaja di lingkungan binaan dapat bermanfaat dalam menciptakan ruang yang dapat mempertahankan interaksinya dengan pengguna remaja.

This undergraduate thesis aims to discuss the role of visual affordance in the interaction between adolescence and their built environment, particularly in relation to their preferred hangout place. The question of factors that affect the readability of visual affordance and how these factors influence adolescents' decisions about where to socialize in the built environment was raised throughout the study. The discussion focuses on examining how adolescents process visual-based information from their surroundings in terms of visual perception, visual properties, aesthetic experience, and interactive affordance. In that case, the discussion is further elaborated using TOD Dukuh Atas as a case study, since it can be seen as a place in which its visual properties attract a lot of adolescence to come. The study then led to an understanding towards the familiarity of arrangement presence in the construction of visual elements that enhance the readability of visual affordance. Understanding visual affordance and adolescents in the built environment can be useful in creating a space that can maintain its interaction with adolescent users."
