"ABSTRAKTesis ini membahas tentang arsitektur nokturnal. Nokturnal yang dimaksud merupakan arsitektur yang memiliki kondisi kurangnya cahaya alami seperti sinar matahari dan bahkan tanpa cahaya sama sekali. Karena nokturnal mempunyai karakter ruang yang berbeda dari diurnal atau waktu siang hari, maka perancangan arsitektur pada tesis ini dilakukan dengan mencoba metode layering data konteks pada programming dari forces atau indikator yang menjadi basis seperti, deteksi kelembapan atau suhu, cahaya gelap dan getaran atau gelombang suara yang didasari juga dari perpindahan komunal atau juga kebutuhan hidup dari para pengguna ruang pada konteks malam hari. Pendekatan yang dilakukan pada konteks malam hari yang dilakukan ditujukan untuk memahami aspek-aspek kehidupan nokturnal yang juga dengan cara mengambil perspektif ruang malam hari dari dunia hewan dan tumbuhan yang diantaranya seperti, kalelawar dan noctiluca scintillans. Perancangan arsitektur nokturnal ini dilakukan pada sebuah tempat yang sudah memiliki karakter seperti malam hari, yaitu goa. Goa yang memiliki variasi dari intensitas cahaya yang telah didata dan dianalisa dalam tesis ini, yaitu Goa Pindul di Yogyakarta. Tidak hanya keberagaman intensitas cahaya yang akan dikembangkan pada tesis perancangan ini, tetapi juga pola pergerakan tumbuhan, hewan dan juga manusia secara individu yang mampu menelususi ruang nokturnal dan hal ini juga dikenal dalam siklus nychthemeron.

ABSTRACTThis thesis is about nocturnal architecture. Nocturnal in this meaning is an architecture that has a condition of lack of natural light such as sunlight and even no light at all. Because the nocturnal has a different space characters than diurnal or day time, the architectural design of this thesis is done by trying the layering method of context data on the programming of the forces or indicators on which to base such as, humidity or temperature detection, dark light and vibration or sound waves which is also based on the communal displacement or the living necessities of space users in the context of the night. Approaches made to the night context are intended to understand the aspects of nocturnal life as well as by taking the perspective of night spaces from the animal and plant world such as, bats and noctiluca scintillans. Nocturnal architecture design is done on a place that already has a characters like the night, namely cave. That cave has variations of the intensity of light that has been recorded and analyzed in this thesis, namely Pindul Cave in Yogyakarta. Not only is the diversity of light intensity to be developed in this design thesis, but also the pattern of movement of plants, animals and humans individually capable of tracing the Nocturnal space and this is also known in the nychthemeron cycle."

"ABSTRAKFlood Myth merupakan sebuah Archetype narasi yang menceritakan mitologi bencana alam yang menyebabkan kehancuran dunia dan bagaimana dunia baru bisa terlahir kembali melalui adanya sebuah 'Hero'. Archetype merupakan sebuah pola dasar komposisi yang berada di alam bawah sadar kita. Sehingga, setiap archetype mampu dipersepsikan dalam bentuk narasi oleh setiap orang secara kolektif.Dari basis Archetype, timbul pertanyaan; APakah setiap cerita yang pernah disampaikan merupakan cerita yang sama dan diulang namun dengan tokoh Hero yang berbeda? Pertanyaan tersebut yang kemudian memicu tugas akhir ini untuk mengkontrusikan narasi berdasarkan Flood Myth seperti Noah's Ark, Yu the Great, dalam medium narasi maupun arsitektur. Dengan potensi narasi sebagai medium dan manifestasi dari archetype dan keadaan bencana pada zaman sekarang yaitu Great Pacific Garbage Patch di Samudra Pasifik, di mana samudra pasifik adalah rumah bagi orang Polynesia. Kajian ini akan membahas bagaimana membangun narasi dari 'Hero' yaitu orang Polynesia mampu melalui 'Plastic Flood' dan membayangkan keadaan arsitekturnya sebagai medium dalam bercerita.

ABSTRACT

Archetype as a thought pattern can be perceived as narration by all human brains collectively. Flood myth Archetype is a narrative structure that tells the story of the destruction of the owrld through flood (disaster) and how a new world arose from the role of a Hero.

From this statement, the question arises wheter every stories we ever perceived the same strong only with different heroes? So that we can construct our own story from the basis of Archetype such as the flood story of Noah's Ark, Yu the Great, and Manu Satyavrata with the condition of our current disaster, The Great Pacific Garbage Parch. Where the pacific ocean is the heart of the Polynesian People as their everyday living environment. With the potential of narrative meidum and architecturel setting to tell the stories. This final project will discuss on how the polynesian people became the 'Hero' to conquer the 'Plastic Flood' and to imagine the architectural settings as a medium to tell the story."

Architecture and film in this modern era are inseparable concerning the generation of perceptual spaces. Architecture is built in and around spaces, which may provide the setting for a film, whereas film stands as a two-dimensional medium to explore and present architecture as a narrative framework. Architecture is a fundamental component in order that film can deliver its narrative.

This thesis discusses how architectural representation is conveyed to encase the spatial narrative of a film and the important role they hold in conveying messages, underlying narratives, and the spatial experiences in a film. It discusses the workings of real to reel, borrowing Nezar AlSayyad's term in reference to the reality and the cinema, using the modern architecture in Jacques Tati's Playtime (1967) as a case in point. The real and reel stand as the main focuses of this thesis. Finally, it observes the concept of reel to real, how the architecture and film can affect our perspectives in life and be used as parameters for design."

The matter of identity has always been an on-going discussion through out the history of Indonesian Architecture. For a long time now, the idea of identity changes from one period to the other, and architecture grows in accordance to its society and recent happenings. This thesis is a descriptive writing discussing the identity of Indonesian Architecture; finding a common denominator as we look through the history of Indonesian Architecture. This thesis aims to understand further on what identity of Indonesian Architecture is in the contemporary era, and how the identity of Indonesian Architecture is represented in the current era by looking at some of the newly renovated buildings in Gelora Bung Karno as examples."
