"Penelitian ini menggambarkan komunikasi informal yang digunakan ilmuwan bidang kedokteran dalam kegiatan penelitian dan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan komunikasi ilmiah informal dalam bidang kedokteran. Faktor-faktor yang diduga berhubungan adalah tahap-tahap penelitian yaitu tahap identifikasi dan penetapan masalah, perumusan hipatesis, persiapan dan implementasi penelitian, analisa hasil dan tahap diskusi atau evaluasi hasil penelitian; Latar belakang keilmuwan yaitu ilmuwan yang mengkaji teori dan mengkaji penyakit; pengalaman kerja ilmuwan yaitu pangkat fungsional Asisten Ahli, Rektor dan Rektor Kepala serta Guru Besar; tingkat pendidilcan yaitu Sarjana, MegisterfSpesialis dan Doktor; serta pendapat kesesuaian teman, efektif, efsisien, fleksibilitas, kemurahan biaya komunikasi informal dan pendapat ketepatan tempat komunikasi informal.Hipotesis penelitian adalah:1) Terdapat hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan tahap-tahap penelitian;2) Terdapat hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan latar belakang keilmuwan; 3) Terdapat hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan jenjang pangkat fungsional ilmuwan;4) Terdapat hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan tingkat pendidikan ilmuwan; serta5) Terdapat hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan pendapat ilmuwan mengenai komunikasi ilmiah informal.Sampel penelitian sebanyak 70 responden diambil secara acak stratifikasi. Pengambilan data dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan pengolahan data secara deskriptif anahtis. Pengujian adanya hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan tahap-tahap penelitian, latar belakang keilmuan, jenjang pangkat fungsional, tingkat pendidikan serta hubungan komunikasi ilmiah informal dengan pendapat ilmuwan mengenai komunikasi ilmiah informal, digunakan uji khi-kuadrat dengan a. = 0,05.Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa dalam kegiatan penelitian ilmuwan kedokteran lebih sering berkomunikasi dengan teman satu bidang ilmu dalam sekali seminggu; cara komunikasi yang sering digunakan adalah kontak pribadi langsung. Tempat komunikasi lebih banyak di fakultas dengan menggunakan waktu 2 - 3 jam dalam sekali seminggu untuk komunikasi langsung pribadi dan kelompok. Komunikasi melalui telepon, email dan diskusi internet lebih banyak dilakukan sekali sebulan dengan waktu kurang dari satu jam. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa:1) Terdapat hubungan frekuensi komunikasi sesama teman fakultas lain yang signifikan dengan tahap-tahap penelitian,2) Terdapat hubungan lama diskusi kelompok internet yang signifikan dengan latar belakang keilmuan,3) Terdapat hubungan frekuensi komunikasi dengan teman satu bidang ilmu dalam satu fakultas dan teman satu bidang ilmu pada perguruan tinggi lain yang signifikan; terdapat hubungan frekuensi komunikasi di fakultas dan di pertemuan ilmiah yang signifikan serta terdapat hubungan lama diskusi kelompok langsung yang signifikan dengan pangkat fungsional ilmuwan,4) Terdapat hubungan frekuensi komunikasi dengan teman fakultas lain dan teman satu bidang ilmu pada perguruan tinggi lain yang signifikan; terdapat hubungan frekuensi komunikasi melalui telepon dan email yang signifikan; terdapat hubungan frekuensi diskusi kelompok langsung yang signifikan; terdapat hubungan frekuensi komunikasi di rumah yang signifikan serta terdapat hubungan lama komunikasi melalui telepon dan diskusi kelompok melalui internet yang signifikan dengan tingkat pendidikan ilmuwan,5) Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kesesuaian teman komunikasi dengan frekuensi komunikasi informal; terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemurahan Maya dengan frekuensi komunikasi informal; terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara efektif, efisien, kemudahan komunikasi informal dengan frekuensi komunikasi kontak langsung pribadi dan kelompok pada tahap-tahap penelitian; serta terdapat hubungan yang signilikan antara kesepakatan tempat, komunikasi dengan frekuensi komunikasi informal pada tahap-tahap penelitian.

Informal Scientific Communication Study of Medicine This research describes informal communication used by scientists in medicine in-research activities and factors related to the informal communication in medicine aspect. The factors assumed to be related are stages of research, namely identification and identification of problems, formulation of hypothesis, preparation and implementation of the research, results of analysis and discussion stage or evaluation of research results; background of the scientists, namely the scientists who study the theory and diseases; work experience of the scientist namely the functional position of expert Assistant, Lecturer, Head Lecturer and Senior Lecturer; education level, namely Graduate, Magistrate/Specialist and PhD; and compatibility of friend, effectives, efficiency, flexibility, the low-cost of informal communication and the appropriate place of informal communication.

The research hypotheses are:

1) There is an informal communication correlation with the stage of research;

2) There is an informal communication correlation with the scientific background;

3) There is an informal communication correlation with the functional grade of scientists;

4) There is an informal communication correlation with the education level of the scientists; and

5) There is an informal communication correlation with view of the scientists regarding the informal scientific communication.

The research samples are 70 respondents taken with stratified random. Using Questioners does the data collection and the data processing is done with analytic descriptive method. The testing of the correlation of the informal scientific communication with the stages of research, background of knowledge, grade of functional position, education level and informal scientific communication and view of the scientists regarding the informal? Scientific communication in done by chi square test with a = 0.05.

It is obtained from the results of the research that in the research activities, scientists in medicine more often communicate with 'their friends in the some field of knowledge; the communication method they often use is direct personal contact. The place of communication mostly is the faculty by using 2.3 hours for personal and group direct communication, less than 1 hour for communication on the phone, e-mail and internet discussion.

The results of statistic test indicate that:

1) There is a correlation of communication frequency among the faculty colleagues and the stage of research,

2) There is a significant correlation of length of internet group discussion and the back ground of knowledge,

3) There is a significant correlation of frequency of communication with friends in the same field in the same faculty and friends of the same field in other universities; there is significant correlation of communication frequency in the faculty and scientific meeting and there is significant correlation of length of direct group discussion with the scientists functional position,

4) There is a significant correlation of communication frequency with friends from other faculties and fiends from the same field of knowledge in other universities; there is a significant correlation of frequency of communication with phone and e-mail; there is a significant correlation of frequency of direct group communication; there is a significant correlation of communication frequency at the house and length of communication through the phone and group discussion through internet with the education level of the scientist,

5) There is a significant correlation between the compatibility of counterpart in the communication with the communication frequency of informal communication; there is a significant correlation between the low-cost of communication and the frequency of informal communication; there is a significant correlation between the effectiveness, efficiency, the ease of informal communication and frequency of personal and group direct contact; and there is a significant correlation between the agreed place of communication and frequency of informal communication during the research stages."
