"This title provides shortcuts to the key information on the structure and fabric of buildings. It distils all the technical guidance you need on a particular topic - be it basement construction, flat roofing, or sustainable urban drainage solutions. It is an invaluable information source for a wide range of construction professionals - from architects and builders to non-specialist DIY enthusiasts. It summarizes all the relevant technical detail, guidelines, and regulations. It features technical sketches, cartoons, authoritative information, as well as off-beat humor."

This thesis discusses about the behavior and the performace of a office high rise building that be designed according Indonesian code by using lateral load resisting structure system combination concrete sway special frame and prestressing steel brace frame. Structure system is designed in two models. Model that apply tension-only to the diagonal member of brace (TO model) and not (non-TO model). Furthermore, the building structure is been analysis by using FEMA 356 pushover to be analysing its behavior and performance. From the result of the research is obtained model that apply tension-only to the diagonal member of brace (TO model), produces more economical dimension of diagonal member of brace and smaller prestressing force without decreasing the performance of the structure."

A well-designed structure that goes through proper construction stages will reduce the risk of losses that may be apparent in construction work. Consequently, the development of BIM technology becomes a solution for achieving it through the ability of information integration that it offers. In this study, analysis and design of a multitower structure are conducted with BIM usage during the design process. The study is carried out by designing two separately designed structures when a skybridge connects them. The study is started by joining both structures without any changes in element sizes to compare the changes in the structural behavior consistently. The study is then continued by doing design evaluations on the connected structure with response spectrum and time history analyses. BIM integration is then used to obtain concrete and bar volumes necessary for cost calculations. The results show that two separate structures will have changes in their dynamic behaviors when they are connected, which will affect their design, especially in resisting lateral forces like earthquake load. Further, this study shows the potential of BIM in helping structural designs process despite its imperfections and further developments needed.

"This book reports on a comprehensive analytical, experimental and numerical study on the flexural response of post-tensioned masonry walls under in-plane loads. It explores an important mechanism in this new generation of structural walls, called “Self-centering”. This mechanism can reduce residual drifts and structural damage during earthquake ground motion, and is particularly favorable for structures which are designed for immediate occupancy performance levels. The book reports on the development and verification of a finite element model of post-tensioned masonry walls. It describes a detailed parametric study to predict the strength of post-tensioned masonry walls. New design methodologies and expressions are developed to predict the flexural strength and force-displacement response of post-tensioned masonry. Experimental study is carried out to better understand the behavior of post-tensioned masonry walls and also to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed design procedure and expressions. The book also includes an introduction to current research on unbounded post-tensioned masonry walls, together with an extensive analysis of previously published test results."

"This volume contains the proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions (SAHC) that was held in Cusco, Peru in 2018. It disseminates recent advances in the areas related to the structural analysis of historical and archaeological constructions. The challenges faced in this field show that accuracy and robustness of results rely heavily on an interdisciplinary approach, where different areas of expertise from managers, practitioners, and scientists work together.
Bearing this in mind, SAHC 2018 stimulated discussion on the new knowledge developed in the different disciplines involved in analysis, conservation, retrofit, and management of existing constructions. This book is organized according to the following topics: assessment and intervention of archaeological heritage, history of construction and building technology, advances in inspection and NDT, innovations in field and laboratory testing applied to historical construction and heritage, new technologies and techniques, risk and vulnerability assessments of heritage for multiple types of hazards, repair, strengthening, and retrofit of historical structures, numerical modeling and structural analysis, structural health monitoring, durability and sustainability, management and conservation strategies for heritage structures, and interdisciplinary projects and case studies.
This volume holds particular interest for all the community interested in the challenging task of preserving existing constructions, enable great opportunities, and also uncover new challenges in the field of structural analysis of historical and archeological constructions."
