"In multi-storey steel frame structure, the requirements of lateral load resistance are very critical in the design. Shear wall, core wall and bracing system are commonly applied to resist the lateral loads. However for some case, due to the architechtural requirements, the design of unbraced frame which utilized only the stiffness of connections, columns and beams could not be avoided. As loads in unbraced frames are to be resisted by bending action of the frames's members without the need of a bracing system, the most common design approach is to use rigid joints. The objective of this paper is to compare the design of unbraced frames bending on major axis with rigid connections using S275 and S355. The frames were designed to satisfy the ultimate limit state and service limit state based on the BS 5950-1:2000. The limit of the sway-deflection is ht/300 for rigid connections. The analysis has shown better construction design for continuous with the total steel weight saving for frame design for frame design with steel S355 was up to 17% less than the frame design using steel S275."

"Desain sebuah struktur bangunan dimulai dari menganalisis terlebih dahulu gaya-gaya yang terjadi akibat beban yang bekerja pada struktur tersebut. Semakin kompleks sebuah struktur maka akan semakin sulit untuk menganalisisnya. Seorang Insinyur Sipil umumnya menggunakan program-program berbayar untuk menganalisis struktur yang kompleks seperti SAP2000, namun pada dasarnya para mahasiswa belum mampu untuk membeli program tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menggantikan program berbayar tersebut dengan membuat sebuah modelisasi perhitungan analisis dan struktur dengan sebuah bahasa pemrograman open source bernama Julia. Perhitungan dan desain yang dimodelkan berbasiskan pada operasi perhitungan matriks dengan metode elemen hingga yang kemudian akan dibandingkan hasil dan kecepatan perhitungannya dengan program SAP2000. Dari hasil perbandingan tersebut, diharapkan didapatkan hasil yang cukup akurat sehingga bahasa pemrograman Julia nantinya dapat digunakan di dalam bidang keilmuan teknik sipil.
Design structure of a building starts with analysis forces that occurs because of load that works on the structure. The more complex the structure is, the harder it will be to analyze it. A Civil Engineers generally uses paid programs to analyze complex structures such as SAP2000, but basically students cannot afford to buy that paid programs. This research was conducted to replace the paid program by making a model of analysis structure calculation with an open source programming language named Julia. Calculations and designs are modeled based on matrix calculation operations with finite element methods and the result and running speed will compare with the SAP2000 program. From the comparasion results, is expected to obained an accurate results so Julia programming language can be used in the field of civil engineering."

"Peristiwa gempa bumi yang cukup sering terjadi di Indonesia seketika dapat merusak bahkan meruntuhkan seluruh komponen bangunan. Maka selayaknya bangunan yang dibangun di Indonesia memiliki sistem struktur penahan gempa dimana salah satu sistem struktur penahan gempa yang paling sering digunakan ialah Special Moment Resisting Frame dikarenakan daktilitasnya yang lebih tinggi. Mekanisme keruntuhan SMRF diawali dengan proses pelelehan yang ditandai dengan munculnya sendi plastis. Pengaruh target sendi plastis pada kolom dasar dengan mekanisme leleh lentur terhadap perilaku struktur secara keseluruhan terlihat dari analisis pushover dimana daktilitas struktur akan menurun. Selain itu, digunakan dua profil yang berbeda untuk membandingkan penggunaan profil CFST dan baja WF dimana profil WF memiliki kekuatan, kekakuan, dan daktilitas yang lebih tinggi. Penggunaan sambungan semi-rigid untuk suatu struktur memiliki pengaruh dimana kekuatan dan kekakuannya menurun sedangkan daktilitasnya akan meningkat. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua program yaitu ETABS untuk perancangan bangunan serta DRAIN-2DX untuk analisis kinerja struktur.
The earthquake phenomenon that usually occur in Indonesia can ruin or even destroy building components immediately. Therefore, buildings that constructed in Indonesia should have an earthquake resistance system, one of them is Special Moment Resisting Frame. This system has widely used in many buildings because it has high ductility and ability to dissipating energy. Collapse mechanism of SMRF building starts with yielding that marked by the existence of plastic hinge. The effect of plastic hinge that occur in column bases with flexural yielding mechanism on behavior of the overall structure can be seen from pushover analysis results which the ductility of structure will be reduced. Furthermore, the use of different profile Wide Flange and Concrete Filled Steel Tubes in the same building can affect the performance of that building, which the building with WF profile has higher strength, stiffness, and ductility. The type of connection that used is also affect performance of the buildings. Strength and stiffness will reduce while the ductility will increase. This research use two programs which is ETABS for designing the building and DRAIN 2DX for performance building analysis."
